Disney won’t give them a movie if they get them back. The four will be regulated to supporting characters and their villains and side characters can appear elsewhere. I need Skrulls for Guardians.
NAAA Marvel will do their own FF movie if they get the rights, and they’ll do it properly. No way would Marvel not make a movie with Galactus and Silver Surfer in it.
So i “viewed” this movie yesterday to see just how bad it was going to be. Like any trainwreck, as horrible as it may sound or be, you want to see it for yourself. As a sci-fi movie with characters names, special powers, and movie title changed it would be an entertaining flick on it’s own. However, as a fantastic four film, it was missing a lot of somethings, but i can’t put my finger on it exactly. My mind is still warped on how gimped Doom was. It was like he got the short end of the movie budget.
That movie won’t come for a long time. After 3 terrible movies I don’t see Marvel giving the F4 their own movie until the stink of the last one goes away. They can salvage the characters by putting them in supporting roles. Galactus and Surfer can show up in some other movie.
Daredevil stunk and as soon as Marvel had it back, they started working on the Netflix universe.
Marvel knows that when they get it back in their hands, people won’t care about the previous movies. All you have to do is have Tony Stark and Reed Richards in a scene, and fans will go ballistic.
Actually, it’d be best for Doom to get his start in a movie WITHOUT the FF. One of the biggest pitfalls so far, just in general even for Marvel, is the incessant impulse to connect the hero and villain’s origins too hard. Doom should be established as the ruler of Latveria with all the badass traits that come with him. Let Doom be Doom, and bring in his hatred of all things RICHARDS later.
Fox let the rights to Daredevil revert though. There was nothing done with the Daredevil property for over 8 years. The stink of his movie and Elektra’s long pass when Marvel got the rights back.
Let’s say Marvel gets the rights back by the end of the year. That’s a fair assumption, although it’s more likely to happen in a year or so. I’d say they would take about three years to get a movie scripted, and shot. In theatres within four years. That gives them more time then they had with Spider-Man.
Nobody will give a fuck about the previous 3 movies, when Marvel gets their hands on it. Every FF movie, you knew would be isolated. With a Marvel one, it would be joining an already powerful universe, and would be setting up epic characters for use across the universe. Doctor Doom, Skrulls, Uatu, Galactus, Kang, Annihilus, all characters that would likely require an introduction from FF (although Annihilus could just be a villain that shows up in like GotG 3).
If you do a Fantastic Four movie right, it’s a fucking nonstop adventure. Doom alone is reason enough to get FF included into the MCU.
You don’t need the FF to introduce any of those FF villains. Skrulls can be just another alien race you see in Guardians, Annihilus can be the main villain of whichever cosmic movie adapts Annihilation, Kang is an Avengers villain, and Doom can appear in every movie he damn well pleases. Uatu, Galactus and Surfer are the only characters you need the F4 in order to introduce.
