For pad players: Your gamepad of choice

That is the button layout for playing Guilty Gear.

I saw at wal-mart a new PS2 Dual Shock with a round D-pad

If it was wireless it’s that Katana thingy. Third Party created but endorsed by Sony. So now Sony doesn’t have to make a wireless dual shock 2.

I’ve been a Saturn pad fan since the Genesis where the 6 button pad got it’s birth. So by the Saturn days I was sold. I’m still honestly waiting on some angel to descend from heaven with a 6 face button Xbox 360 controller with the Saturn d-pad. No really, I want that bad! I’ll never need another controller again in my life.

MarkMan! Yo. Can you answer if the SF IV Pads will be a regular d-pad like the Saturn or the clicky nub thing like the SFAC/NGCD pads?

Definitely the Saturn pad.

PS2 Dual Shock works but sometimes it can be a pain for me. Since I sold my Saturn controllers away I regret not keeping at least one.

Saturn pad…

has any one ever played with one of these? http://www.chinagameware.com/display/ft2e92_pc-usb_game_controller.shtml

The d-pad looks decent and I love the idea of retractable usb cord. i was looking for a usb controller that was small but good for fighters, cause i travel a lot. any help is greatly appreciated!

Christ, if the shipping on that ASCII pad wasn’t so steep (and I didn’t have 2 Saturn pads on customs-delayed order), I would be all over that.

Well, I just got sniped on eBay on the only auction on the site for a PS2 Sega Saturn Pad. I didn’t realize they were this incredibly hard to find. I expected them to be expensive, sure, but no where near this rare. Guess I have no choice but to rely on the Trade Outlet.

Yeah, ended at almost $110. Kinda makes me want to sell one of mine considering I only use it once in a blue moon, but then again I don’t want to have to hear my friend’s mouth complaining about why he lost because I got the good controller.

Ha, controller Johns. A classic no matter what system they make excuses on. Well SlaughterX, if you ever do decide to sell yours, PM me or something and I can negotiate a good price with you. A very good price, you’ll find, if your Saturn pad is either black or a Darkstalkers one.

See, those bootleggers need to bootleg the PS2 pad, there’s cash money to be made there!

Just wanted to point out that the retailer “TOYS N JOYS” listed above has tons of bad feedback. Tread carefully.

Those pics are old + those pics are from an early mock up. I’ve said many times in that thread. Nothing from the GameStop show was final.

Just a heads up for you would be internet detectives.

So I got the neogeo pad 2 and it’s good, I can’t tell HOW good yet, but I wasn’t having the same ease that I do with the Saturn pad. Maybe it will come but for now my shoryuken motion isn’t as consistent. Very easy and I’ll probably use this for PS RPGs.

Play a 360 character like Gief or Hugo and you’ll instantly see how nice those Neo pads are.

Ah yeah, I can see that. I’m a shoto whore so it might not make too much diff there, but I can totally see the advantage.

Why would the Neo-Geo Pad be good for 360 characters? Does the D-Pad have a really short throw or something?

The d-pad isn’t a typical d-pad, it’s a clicky thumbstick. Hard to describe, I get the impression from using it that it’s what the NES max SHOULD have been. Doing a 360 with it is as simple as dragging the stick to all 8 corners. I never had a NG/NGCD/NGPC so I’ve never used this before but it’s pretty cool.

Oh, so it’s a circular sliding disc. Wow, that’s pretty nifty! So it’s basically a mini-arcade stick for your thumb.
