For pad players: Your gamepad of choice

there are some crazy collections in here, kiger’s especially. Ha ha. I’m going to get a couple of those SFC Fighting Commanders soon and the PS1 Fighting Commander 10B (which was the proper name for that controller I linked either) to add to mine. I didn’t know they released a version of the PS2 Saturn controller in the white color scheme!

On another note, I just found out in searching that there is a new PS3 version of the Fighting Commander coming out this month from Hori:

Unlike the HoriPad EX Turbo 2, this controller seems very uncluttered, more like the SFC Fighting Commanders.
I know this forum is more stick centric, but this seemed to fly RIGHT under the radar. Play-Asia is selling them, I wonder if they’ll come out here.

hmmmm… n64 pads? not sure bout you guys but anyone else used to get mega blisters off those joysticks with no rubber coating on them? Especially after intense game of Smash Bros or Mario party haha. As for my choice i would go for the 360 pad or gamecube since i prefer joysticks over d-pads.

@Batsu: nice find! Can’t believe this wasn’t mentioned before, those pads look awesome.

@Phatty: N64-pad players generally use the D-pad for arcade fighters like SF. AFAIK there’s preference for non-official pads, too.

As of a few days ago, I have already preordered the Fighting Commander 3 (blue). My one worry is the d-pad (which is always my worry for any pad), but the fact that it’s a “+”-shaped d-pad as opposed to a round one has my hopes high at least. Probably the only way they can screw this up is by making it too mushy (like, say, the DS Lite’s).

This could well be the best pad ever made, and presumably it will also be usable on PC.

As for it being less cluttered, heck yeah; this looks to be an amazingly well-designed controller. Even the SNES Fighting Commander is too cluttered for my tastes, which I remedied by taking out the turbo switches and replacing them with strips of black foam rubber to keep dust out of the holes.

Plus it’s wired, which makes it way better than the MatCatz pads with their dongles and alkaline batteries (what were they thinking?!).

And the old pads that this descended from:

That is a SWANKY pad! I’m sad the 360 version of the same has a genetic condition.

I’ve got a Blanka Fight Pad. It’s a fine thing! I play slightly different on it than with a stick, though.

I have already pre-ordered 4 from play-asia! Get em while they are hot!

Why there are answers here other then the Saturn pad I have no idea.

Hi kiger remember me from TGH.com  your saturn pad collection dude, makes you king in my eyes.

HAH! We’re at all the good sites eh? Anyway, thanks for the compliment.

Well, I’m really psyched about those new Hori Fighting Commander pads because aside from the real arcade pro sticks, the HFC pads have always been the cream of the crop. Also, given the fact they are USB they will probably work great with Windows.

Actually i work for that other site so i have to go there lol.

I’m also looking forward to the new ps3 hfc pads, i was thinking of getting one for use with platform games (such as the sega collection) and casual retro gaming. isn’t there any real pics of em yet?

Those new Hori pads look like hot sex. And finally, the PS3 pad players have an alternative to the MadCatz FightPad, and it’s not wireless so that will cause way, way, WAY less headaches for tournaments.

I’m the only stick player in Florence but I’m jealous.

Are people just forgetting the saturn usb pads exists?

Oh I know they exist. I also know they’re hard as hell to find nowadays, if you’re talking about the same Saturn USB pad I’m thinking of - the Sega-made one that was made five or six years ago and is discontinued.

Na, it’s impossible to find them. If only I had some saturn pads I would be set… maybe someone will sell me some. ;p

Actually, the USB saturn pads are extremely easy to find - just import them from Hong Kong.

I’ve bought three different ones from different resellers all situated in HK, spent about 15 bucks each, free shipping. Arrived at my doorstep (in Sweden) within 10 days, all three of them.

Having used both saturn pads and fightpads extensively (along with my TE stick…) I personally like the 360 fightpad the best, especially the buttons are a big step up from saturn pads in my opinion.

Aren’t the HK USB Saturn pads pretty much ripoffs (as in, not Sega manufactured)?

I guess you couldn’t sense my sarcasm ;p

Some people just don’t look at previous post lol. You have enough saturn pads to please a street fighter nation.

there is a big difference between those usb knock offs and the real saturn ones.

I’m not sure if this has been posted, but saw it browsing ebay. Neat concept.
