Good stuff. You were totally in his head by the end. I can’t believe her ultra hit you from that far. I guess the lariat hurtbox was what did it. I remember playing Luffy now and then on PSN when I was on the east coast. He definitely konws the matchup very well.
Yeah, your reads were great once you had the hard knockdown, mad kudos for that.
You got flustered like hell at the end of the first match, ran into a ton of anti-airs and pokes, then you got like 2 jump-ins in and he stopped challenging your jumps, which was weird all things considered but it’s not a knack on your game. Also, sometimes you relied too much on getting the knockdown through a jump-in or getting in with LP GH, I’d do some kick lariats in there to try and catch a st.HK/st.MK, at worst you’d eat the exact same poke you would eat by pressing a button and at best you get a soft knockdown and some good pressure.
That being said, I’d love to have a win on my belt like beating Louffy in a ft.3. Great job, man.
The jumping in game 1 looks bad. But im beeing outread. J.hp will beat sf.rh and empty jump instant c.lp will beat rose f.shp. jumping from far on Rose is very rewarding because she has no answer for all jumps. So most of the time nothing happens.
I just wanna point out some of the lp gh that might look random: In neutral i hit 4lp greenhands 3 of them are intentional raw greenhand whiffpunishes on sweep and shk and one of them is an unintentional proximity os from a c.lk.
On knockdown vs. Rose in ultra its true 50/50 because rose got nerfed so bad with her ex-spiral. So imo baiting is only good if she has ultra stocked and you dont need it.
I have no advice since you played the matchup well and adjusted. I was surprised luoffy didn’t use more wakeup s.mk
Props Veggey!
Didnt mean to be defencive, just wanted to explain the GHs and far jumps.
haha ty!
i hope you dont mind but im stealing that early cross up splash to ultra…
Playing vs. a Chun Li at VSF in brackets:
thanks for uploading Explåååyeudesune
that match was really informative thank you
Very solid play from you Veggey but that Chun was terrible.
Yeah, im gonna upload the MM vs. Valmaster aswell, he beat me 3-2. I play the same way(But I get angry sometimes, and play stupid.), but he counters jumps more effective, and he does better in footsies. I just wanted to post the last match, because it shows how to deal with the pokes. I think Chuns buff to flip-kick put the matchup from 5-5 to 4-6 in Chuns favor. Any thoughts?

[/quote]Finally got a chance to watch it. That was some great stuff.
Really liked your cross up splash o/s GH against his wakeup back dash
First match during yesterday’s Capcom Pro Tour Rank Tournament in Costa Rica I will post the remaining matches as they get uploaded.
I guess they will not upload the remaining matches here is grand finals:
Dude. Please anti-air PPP Lariat those jumps. So many missed jump opportunities!!!
Punishment for the blocked cannon spike is reversal forward dash into HP SPD/U1
You need to work on your footsie movement, need to make cammy whiff more of her far st.hk
Otherwise, good game
Take a game off of PRBalrog, almost a perfect second round.
lots more gief on
Lost a tournament game against my sparring partner, any advise is appreciated
Why are you throwing out random focuses in his face? Don’t do that. I guess you can try to bait something but you just released it. And he can just ball you on reaction so it’s not even worth it. Also too many of the same tick throw setups. It worked once and never again. You need to finish your combos. Also use cr.lp os GH. cr.lp beats out a lot of Blanka’s pokes. If you want to be really pro, practice doing kara EXGH so you can punish his exballs. It’s pretty tough but definitely doable with enough practice.
Don’t do random EX GH’s, huge risk, even more vs Blanka who you should be saving red focus for, since you can hit him while crouching. You’re also not playing footsies, learn cr.HP’s range and whiff punish it with st.MP or cr.LP xx LP GH. There’s almost no reason to fish with focus attack vs Blanka, you’re only hoping to catch cr.HP (which is better to just whiff punish) or slide (which is better to block and punish), no real payoff there.
Nice U2 read in the first round. Not so good reads in the next rounds, you had already taken jumps away by doing the first U2, he wasn’t doing anything that made him commit to being in the air so it was a huge read that was mostly going to be wrong.
Overall, your neutral game needs work, you almost never played footsies outside of some attempts to stuff his pokes, your SPD’s could be seen from a mile away (those 2 cr.MK whiffs in the final round are a good example of that). But there’s good things, you always kept it safe in your mixups (even if you got predictable down the road, honestly) and got mostly good rewards off them and you never dropped your combos when you commited to them (although I think you need to do more cr.LK links, they are pretty easy now and do better damage, and I also think that vs Blanka you should almost always finish your combos with LP GH to make more meter, hitting Red Focus while Blanka is crouching is great).
Chulo el patrocinio de Bayer, por cierto.
Top Notch Stuff.
You used some kind of whiff option select cr.lp/LPGH vs Chun Li’s back dash near the corner? It was a great play.
Your buttons are loud. Is that you practicing some links between rounds? Might need to invest in some silent Sanwa buttons,
Good hit confirms.
- cr.lk cr.lk st.lk xx LPGH
- cr.lp xx cr.lk st.mp st.lk xx LPGH
Your links are very consistent compared to last time. So you’ve been practicing
its c.lp ~lpgh~ c.lk/c.lp It should catch anyones backdash if done right. My inputs are df,d,df, clk
yeah that Eryu links match was a mess, I dunnop who I thought clk clk smp slk would work vs. Eryu, but I had the c.lks down pretty good in AEv.2012, and I just LOVE the +5 change in usf.
Yeah I dont mind making noice, I usually mash buttons and stick motions in any reset or wakeup situation(without doing anything.) just to scare my opponent. And when I play sagat, I use loud sounds to throw them off my fireballgame.
