Forgetfulness, look at this -

There are much better Akumas out there, but this will give you some idea as to what you should be doing. A lot of things went wrong in this match, I will be covering the video with annotations when I get home from work.

I liked how you were dashing underneath the demon flip kick. Its seemed to be worth the risk to land the SPD. You seemed like you were a little frazzled, but you still pulled on some nice combos that gave him something to be scared of.

I wouldn’t call it a risk per se, it’s more what you have to do in the match to survive/do damage. You will see later on he was doing dive kick to sweep, I’m not sure if that is guaranteed on backdash. Not sure what you mean by frazzled, that’s a bit ambiguous. I did LOSE the match (rather than just being beaten) by doing stupid stuff and not doing stuff, so I assume that is what you mean.

That akuma was awful, don’t even bother watching

That was an awesome post. The part I found helpful was where you (in one sentence) trashed someone else’s advice and didn’t actually qualify your statement with reason. You fail and I’m blocking your posts. I don’t have time for children.

Instead of saying “frazzled” I should have elaborated. What I should have said was that I saw a lot of potential in some of the moves you did, but it didn’t seem to carry through the whole game. I’m sure if you fellas meet again it would be a whole different match.

Shut up that akumas just really aggressive. money match challenge 20 bucks first to five next time I see you.

Worse: you can SPd the rh if he does it too close to you learn the range and it will stop the double rh pressure. Also he likes to vortex you if you pick u2 this shuts this option down for him and it’s not like you came close to landing u1 so I would switch it up.

Is cr.jab the correct o_s for thwarting the double hk? The jab seems to always get stuffed. I can never get out of that dam pressure unless he gets too greedy.

Yeah, landing u1 in this match seems very hard to land, he always has a way out and tick can only go so far. But i cant do the insta-air u2 at all. Wish it was like the shangrila, i do that in my sleep.

worst gief - you can punish teleport with chasing lp hand, ex-hand. I’m not sure if you knew that already, but I didn’t see you do this once against that akuma, except maybe you tried for it at the end? If akuma has U2, however, don’t do it; they will try to bait you.

Yeah, I’ve only just started chasing teleports and haven’t looked into the options after green hand so thanks for the tip.

amoco, i will learn the spacing - I was unsure on spd after roundhouse so i only do it very occasionally. I thought Akuma was always at 0 frames on block with the roundhouse.

Forgetfulness - you need to make sure you are space correctly for cr.lp option select. If you are too close it will get stuffed.

I’m going to Paris this weekend for Bushido Impact solo & 2v2 so hopefully I’ll have some better videos, they have the top crop of players in Europe at the moment.

That sounds like a lot of fun WorstGiefEVER. I can’t wait to see the videos

Gief (me) vs. some vega.

I think the last round was pretty cool.

Nice anti air headbutts:) It looks like you did pretty well against that Vega overall. Off the top of my head my only suggestions would be to try and focus absorb/backdash a few of those Flying Barcelona Attacks.

wutongshu posted in the video match up thread and I thought I should respond here because it looked like he was asking for a critique rather than posting examples of how to handle the specific characters he was fighting. It’s rather late for me so I will post the comments I wrote down about each fight rather than give a complete written breakdown. I hope you still find it useful.

Uhhhhh. This is as nice as i can put it but you have a ways to go.

Your number one issue is the lariat spam. Honestly i have no idea how that worked even against sub par comp. Lariat is SUPER punishable.

 1. use PPP only for AA. You will also need to learn AA timing, it can be difficult against better players though
 2. Punish point blank whiffed moves with spds, not lariats
 3. wheres the tick throws? all i see is jab jab jab, jump. Now not every player can be tick thrown, but you have to test the waters early
 4. matchup knowledge. More than any other character Gief needs in depth info on who he is facing. There is no one size fits all like a Ryu. Spacing and punishes are matchup specific, you have to learn them.
 5. hit training mode and try to learn at least one combo. cr.lpx2, crlk, ex gh is a 2-frame link and is “fairly” easy to do
 6. crossup splash, for the life of me i cant understand why those guys kept eating a lariat after these. Lariat is duckable you know. vary the splash with down lk “knees” and when you land mix it up between low pokes to spd or low pokes to block to bait out a reversal.

Once you get those you’ll then need to learn option select stuff. Check the stickies for more info on that.

The Mike Ross match…his “EXGH” bait xx ultra was NICE. Now I hae to make sure I odn’t try that myself…because I’ll overdo it and die from doing that too much…but a great trick. I guess in that same situation you can pull out EX SPD.
