Yeah, I’m really struggling to figure out what he could have done in that match. It just seemed like his only hope was for Ricky to make mistakes, of which he made too few to capitalize on.

Honestly looking at vangiefs matches its pretty easy to see that vance was taken off guard my infiltrations akuma. Hell infiltration is one of the most interesting akumas i have seen.
Although i feel van could have done better against ricky since ricky was spaming hk couldnt he have just used crouching jab into ex hand i think that would made the match much easier

I know other than the Hawk match up, this is “suppose” to be in Gief’s favor, but these characters seem to have very good zoning tools adn AA’s against Gief.

Ouch, yeah, it’s really bad if gief is at the distance of Rufus’ cr.HP. That’s the distance he wants gief at because he can pretty much react to everything gief does. You have to get next to him so gief’s st.mp or cr.lp/cr.lk will beat out his pokes.
Joe needs to STOP jumping. There’s no need to jump at that point, it’s just impatient. He has 99 seconds to win the match. I would only use lariat on reaction if possible as if you guess with it you will get punished.
focus backdash the cr.hp to build ultra, or mix between st mp - st mk, or just block. damage limitation. He walked into too much stuff.

Vangief vs Alex Valle (Ryu) 08/01/2010 - [media=youtube]jq7YmDslMpQ[/media]
I’m having serious problems with good Ryus lately. I know that Ryu is a tough match for Gief, but lately I just can NOT get past the zoning. I see this match and it mirrors the same things I’m seeing in my matches. Is there ANYONE out there taking down GOOD Ryus recently, and more importantly, consistently? Doesn’t matter if I use U1 or U2, I just face these same problems that Vangief has in here.
I think he could have taken it if he didn’t drop his combos. He got a little greedy on that first combo. He also screwed up on the cr.lk into exgh that one time and ppp lariat came out. When I used to use pad, I used my right thumb and index fingers to hit the pp but I think vangief uses left trigger for ppp so if he screwes up, he gets lariat. I’m glad I moved onto stick now though.
