some comments… you’re using too much lariats and not hit-confirming after a cross-over splash or jump-in.
practice the bnb combo. gief has many. here are the easiest to hardest:

that’s not a combo it’s was a glitch, specifically for guy. You could combo into a grab while he was crouching … i forgot exactly how it works but i know on the first frame of his crouching position you could grab him… but that has been taking out now and you can’t do that anymore.

This match wasn’t even competitive, no idea what the Ryu was doing. you should kick lariat past his fireballs, punch lariat is much longer and leaves you exposed. Learn Splash, cr.lp cr.lp cr.lk xx EX GH. Then when your combo is blocked you can try a tick SPD instead and your game will improve.

You are jumping around too much. In the words of Alioune, “This is not Super Mario Bros”. You’re eating too much damage jumping at Balrog and you’re not really posing any threat by doing it. Watch out for sweep when you are close to balrog and use standing medium punch. You should generally use standing medium punch in most/all matches. Don’t push buttons for the sake of pushing buttons because it leaves you open to counter hits and bonus damage. Careful with those EX green hands you are not comboing into. That’s more useful vs people throwing fireballs.

if you are a green hand away from abel and he pops ultra, jump back and either try to spd if you think you have the right distance or just hold up and don’t push buttons before you jump again. Why are you doing EX green hand on wakeup? you can backdash or neutral jump to avoid wakeup throws. EX green hand leaves you in recovery frames your opponent will punish. abuse standing medium punch when you are both walking around in this match. When you are in the corner and he wheel kicks from half screen, do reaction EX green hand.

you don’t seem to use any normals in matches. when viper is in the corner like that, you can just walk up to her and do LP SPD, or whiff standing hard kick over her head then to lp spd.
in general, learn the proper combos, stop spamming lariat as better players will punish you
He enjoys pressing PPP. Even for normals. I have no idea what the logic behind that is. I see it in replays online as well where people will just be pressing all 3 punch buttons and all 3 kick buttons. They’re not plinking, they just push all the buttons. People love to mash those PPP and KKK I guess…

I need to learn the punishers for this match up in training mode. LP/LK option select green hand is critical here - I did not do it because I cannot do it consistently yet with LP or standing LK. Cr. LK is fine but I think you will have more opportunities with LP or standing LK here. His spacing does not allow me to EX GH fireballs for knockdown. I think in the last round I should have tried EX GH when he was using the kick-poke, I had enough bars to cancel.

I noticed that with certain conditions, you can jump over Juri’s high fireball and fierce punch her in the head. On hit you should be able to combo into EX GH, which I will be trying next time we have a set. I need hit training mode to find the correct spacing for jumping over the high fireball as this can lead to huge damage.
I wasn’t sure WHEN I should pop LP SPD after blocked pinwheel so you can see some mashing there… I’m not sure if LP SPD is guaranteed in every blocked pinwheel scenario. If she is close when she pops it then yes, however if there is a bit of distance and only the tip of her pinwheel is hitting you, I’m not so sure. I tried and failed to grab a blocked EX pinwheel as you will see, however this may just be down to my timing, I will check in training mode.
There are also times where I could not finish my combo because 3 LPs would push her too far away to land a cr.lp, so I will be investigating these scenarios and start doing st.lp st.lp cr.lk xx EX GH instead.

He wouldnt need to get through it if he built his meter up before going in for the attack. Its like ryu you need 1 bar before you go in vs juri because it limits them charging that fb bullshit. Once you have a bar the match is in your favor. but without it she can f u up.
yeah i agree with u and i’m not saying he played great or anything but it’s just frustarting when u see vids like that. the non gief players have no idea how hard it is for us sometimes. all they do is bitch about how op he is which is a freaking joke. just sad that capcom listened to moronic scrubs instead of good players.
