"For Mother Russia!" Zangief Video Thread

Ultradavid, you got any videos from bouya?

cantona’s just ridiculous. he would’ve taken the match if the ultra came out instead of the ex-spd in round 1.

1 1/2 hrs of straight casuals me (gief) vs various other nor cal players from iplaywinner.com  enjoy

bouya deleted his sf4 card, so i doubt there won’t be any more vids of him:-(

‘anymore vids’ means that there had to be videos of him playing to begin with…

this vid shows alot of difrent ways you can punish and stuff moves, things you dont see quit often even in high level play.

… There’s a reason you don’t see those punishes in high level play.

Here are a couple of vids of me playing that I found online. Enjoy

Me vs TKNBoosted

Does normal throw beat Rose’s wake up ex spiral?

haha, TKN BOOSTED loves to mash on those buttons. I don’t know how people play like that.

what do mean, like as a joke or as a negative comment? For the most part, i don’t mash i double tap alot to insure my input is actually taken lol. There’s several times, where i swear down that i did the input but nothing happens sometimes… natural lag eats some of my inputs. Plus i have my camera right next to my chair so, it sounds really loud lol. I have calmed down on that but in that particular video or videos i didn’t know how do the o_s green hand, so, i was basically buffering in a forward downforward lk then inputing the two punches on reaction. How hopeless was i then lol. I have pretty much got it mastered not to point where i think about it but to the point that i know, how to do it on reaction.

Well, i just recently played o rico suave o the beast abel player and i got some of our matches we only played like 5 games, because he had to go but the score was 3 for him 2 to me. I know that doesn’t mean anything unless it’s offline, where there’s zero lag but the last time i fought him, whichs was like a month ago he beat me 6 to zero lol… man, i was so free. In the last match we played he woop my ass in the corner. I guess the better players i play the better i get overtime…

I wasn’t trying to be negative. It was just an observation. I’m not sure why button presses wouldn’t register for you. Is it just online or does it happen with offline play as well? It just seems like an inefficient way of playing and you’re wasting a lot of your energy. Plus extra inputs means extra chances for something to come out that you didn’t intend to come out. I just thought it was funny because I’ve never seen anyone play like that. But whatever works for you. It’s all cool.

I have noticed a couple of times online when my jabs wouldn’t come out during my combo and I’d either just be standing there or I’d eat a mashed reversal. But that’s pretty rare. I think it happens when I transition from a laggy match to a no lag match. But that’s playing online for you.

Double tapping and tripple tapping is something most top end players do. When you do your ultra, especially on an empty jump, if you don’t double or triple tap you’re gonna miss it every once in a while. The buffer window is 23 or 24 frames. So it’s stupid not to.

Also, I beat Rico in a First to 10, I had a 6 game win streak to close it out. Abel is free. And Rico is an amazing Abel.

i got some matches with orico suaveo that sick abel player. i want you guys to critique it for me … thanks but it’s not alot though. The first time i played him which was like a month ago he beat me 6-0 lol

I think you have to time your meaty jump ins better. I noticed he was AAing you with s.HP. He wasn’t quick standing and I think that was throwing you off. And you could have won a couple of those rounds there if you o-s SPD on your jump ins. Instead, he was able to get away with ex rolls. That’s a really great tool against Abel. It really limits his wakeup options.

bro… man i was trying to do the o-s ex spd but i don’t have it mastered yet, so a few times i know for sure i could have won the round because of that only.Damn, i really have to get my o-s spd down fucccccccccck … damn i me trying to catch up with everyone is fucking really hard man. I just started to get serious with this game for the past 3 months. Damn i need to get this down … damn i need to get this down

I finally beat Alex Valle the other night… 20-17 very close games… shit was going back and forth the entire time. Wish I could have recorded it. :frowning:

bro, ur doing that shit on a pad? i gotta give u some respect for that. it’s funny cause after watching ur matches i went to training mode with my dual shock just to fuck around a little and i don’t know how u do it lol. dash to ultra was impossible, cr.short-ex gh was impossible, and regular spd was maybe 50-50.

There were a few times were you used attacks that felt like “he’s pressing that to press it” more than “pressing it for a specific purpose”, once you try countering him with a s.fp (it hits, but you IMO had better options), and another time on knockdown you tried to trip him up with I believe c.mk (can’t remember if it was mk or rh) and it was right before he rolled - when as mentioned the c.lk 0-s would have been more beneficial, even if you havne’t mastered it, I’d rather risk a c.lk than any other crouching kick. The rest of the major/main things were things you ‘mentioned’ yourself during the video (execution related stuff).

yea… I’ve been playin on pad since SNES sf2 turbo lol it comes pretty natural to me. I can’t play as well on a stick because of muscle memory and it doesn’t feel as natural to me, but I also prefer a pad since my thumbs are faster than my wrist.

Doing 360 and 720 on pad isn’t that hard at all, especially for SFIV. And dashing is easier on pad too. I had no problems with bnb, 360, or 720s when I played on pad. But I forced myself to switch over to stick. I sucked major balls at first and it was really frustrating, but now that I’m used to the stick, I can do a lot more stuff than I could with pad, especially the o-s stuff and the kara GH. I’m also much better at doing the cr.lk buffer 720 on stick since I can do the 720 motion a lot faster. I now finally see why everyone says stick is superior.
