You opponent was not scared of you, because he didn’T feel like you would pull out any SPD attempts during those mashy-jabs pokes. I agree with you that you need to stop mashing those jabs.
Don’t use so many Focus attacks, let alone ever letting a lvl3 go. Baiting has it’s limits, esp. with a ranged character like Vega. I really didn’t see him jump-in on you much, but basically you have three options against those types of jump-in attacks. Very late cr. Lariat, EX Hand to beat / dodge it or depending on the attack / range instant air Headbutt. Against Vega, the 3rd option is unlikely, so I’d stick to the first two.
Of course you could also just block since the worst that can happen is you get into a tick throw situation.
If you want to hit Vega in those situations where he was just neutral jumping and waiting for an attack, you can always just space out an early jump-fierce which as far as I know will beat out or trade with anything Vega has. Alternatively, just throw a boot in has face on the way down if he keeps doing it. If you want to be really sneaky, inch just into his range and immediately neutral jump Headbutt and watch the fun commence if he hit the wrong button.
Otherwise yeah, like you said, you spam jab too much.

Edit: That combo against gouken is straight murder. If you can do that consistently, it will make headbutt that much more dangerous.

You fell for the same stupid trick twice, where eric does tiger, tiger, crouch MK and you jump. Bye, Bye 30% health.
Use C.MK and KKK lariat through high and low tigers, then use the threat of the EX GH to calm him down once you get close.
Learn your EX GH ranges better. You only got the 1 hit twice.
NEVER go for naked SPD on the first mixup. EVERYONE is going to make you punish them for jumping or backdashing first. And that’s not including the aggressive players that would uppercut you.
Splash on hit-> Neutral jump Headbutt is not a mixup.

I played a few games over at China Town Fair this weekend. It was my first time playing SFIV at an arcade actually. I think the arcade has better sound than the home ports. The block sound effects just sound so much crisper. I also wasn’t used to having the screen so close to my face either. I found myself not noticing how much health of meter the opponent or had because my eyes weren’t focused on it. Overall, I thought it was a lot more fun than playing the game online at home. But I think the mp button on the 2P side of the left cabinet was starting to go. It wasn’t registering my inputs and that was very annoying. I guess this really had nothing to do with zangief videos. But aquasilk’s post reminded me and I think he’s from NY and plays up there.

you ate too many focus attacks. spd, cr short xx exgh would have been better answers than just to chop away or block.
and you left a few things unpunished like his cod and cod fadc, which all could be spd on reaction after block and you kept trying to go head butt into throws or just strong chops instead of comboing. lastly first few rounds i noticed he was rolling a lot and i thought you finally caught on to it… (when you P’d on him) but it was only for one round… he didnt learn after that and still kept trying to roll out of your cross ups and you just let him.

round one started off decent for you. you went wrong on the 3rd knock down, you went for a cross up… when your opponent was in the corner, leaving YOU in the corner and with viper with full screen access and room to breathe would have been ok if you guess right and just did another 360k right there or did a better job ticking into spd, but that could have been avoided with a regular/safe jump attack instead of going for the cross. After that, viper jumps around your head around your lariat range and you didnt do it which would have gotten another knock down also im pretty sure you could have done an SPD after that thunder knuckle but you decided to back dash instead.
