whoever ok’d the peacekeeper is fucked in the head
108 revenge gear + bleed debuff
oh shit my entire team got 2 shot with a blocked zone attack
can’t even escape them in duels because they infest that too
I’d rather deal with warden every game
this game is so shit why do i keep playing it
ubisoft got the hard read on my life
I didnt understand it when I heard they were buffing peacekeeper. Doesn’t really make sense.
Also I didnt play the beta but are guard breaks going to be too easy now? As of now I can guard break on reaction pretty consistently but sometimes it just doesn’t seem to work for some reason. How much bigger are they actually making the window?
Dominion is a shitshow. Not just because of gear stats. Feats are absolutely ridiculous against specific characters. Not to mention that most people just don’t know how to play. I’m sure SRK is better than the average mouthbreather, but for those of you who may have missed it: you get double points every tick for the two points to the sides as long as someone is standing inside them. So holding a single point with a person fortifying it is just as good as holding the other two combined in terms of point generation. This also means that the most effective strategy by far is ignoring the center point, which is the most difficult to hold and will only ever generate 1 point per tick, and focus on fortifying/contesting the other two. Incidentally, this will also give you a level 4 feat fairly quickly. This also means that rolling around in a giant gank squad is a supremely bad idea most of the time since you optimally should always have two people on the two points.
Also, being ganged up on is a great thing in Dominion, because defending against multiple opponents is actually fairly easy, and every second you tie up more than one of their dudes is a second they can’t do something actually useful. And any halfway decent player should be able to tie them up for at least half a minute. This means that you’re either playing Dominion optimally, which is just maxing out on defensive stats (preferably Revenge mode since it gives you free life and a knockdown) and feats that allow you to inflict unavoidable damage, or poorly, which means your team is doing dumb shit like rolling in a 3-4 man gank squad at the middle zone. Both are really, really boring.
Duel has the problem with horrible match-ups, way too long rounds, time-outs ending in a tie for some fucking reason, running away being way too easy. All Deathmatch modes are absolute dogshit for the same reason as Dominion and Duel, plus like fifteen others. So you just have Brawl left, but there you have to deal with the man-children and their imaginary rules.
I’m going to suggest that maybe your view of Dominion isn’t wide enough.
First, yes standing in a control point is worth +2 instead of +1. Players do gain Renown from standing in control points as well, but only Heavies can use that as a primary source of Renown gain. As far as the strategy you’ve outlined, relying on +2 on a control point is a fragile strategy at best. You’re ignoring the possibility of the enemy team having a player on their control point, points for enemy KOs and you’re completely overlooking the importance of the Front because yeah, you can’t boost it to +2, but not only does the team gain points from soldier KOs, but controlling the Front also forces the enemy team to spawn more soldiers than otherwise, which generate more points. I will give credence to the idea that on some maps, you can go for controlling the two boostable points, but that requires very specific team makeup and a backup plan for when it inevitably turns around.
Regarding Revenge and outnumbered fights, Revenge is a bit out there, but doesn’t guarantee knockdowns on good players. Getting outnumbered is also a great source of Renown and is pretty easy to do against uncoordinated teams, but giving the enemy team free points for what will be more like fifteen to twenty seconds seems a bit strange. Gear stats are pretty bad though, and I think you’ll find little disagreement about that anywhere.
Duel does suffer, but mostly because I don’t think it’s a primary game mode. Great for grinding out matchups and stuff, but that’s the only purpose it serves really. I think maybe you just don’t like the game. Seems like when it comes to 4v4 modes, you and your team haven’t put in the time necessary to plan properly.
See, my experience is that the front simply isn’t a stable enough source of points. A single dude can tear through soldiers about as effectively as three guys because they’re fucking grunts. It’s simply not worth committing to it unless you’re already holding down the other two zones for 200 points plus the four per tick. This is particularly true since defensive play is so ridiculously strong in the game, making it ridiculously easy for one guy to hold off multiple enemies simultaneously. It’s almost never worth the commitment to gang up on someone unless 1) you’re insta-killing him with feat spam, or 2) they’re already breaking.
I’d have to check, but I’m fairly sure I have a 80-90%+ win rate in Dominion because I have the basic math skills necessary to see where my team and the opposing team are getting a majority of their points. Three dudes chasing a single motherfucker around the map or both teams forming a moshpit at the front is not useful.
Dominion is a shit mode as-is. Maybe it’s better if you make a custom server without gear stats, feats and with people who all communicate, but fuck putting that effort in because Ubisoft are too lazy to include a competitive mode by default. And Elimination and Skirmish are completely unplayable because the dominant strategy is to play a fast character, run to the best buffs, and then run a train on the opponents.
Maybe I’m mistyping what I’m saying or you’re misinterpreting. I’m not saying that you send everyone to the Front and wage war for ten minutes. What I’m saying is that there is no reason to discount the Front when it’s a good source for points and Renown if you can’t pull the enemy team off their control point. Even the most basic strategy for Dominion has a heavy at its own control point and one or two folks at the front farming points and Renown. It doesn’t have to be one way or the other.
I’d argue that it’s the 4v4 modes that dumb the game down. It becomes a lot less about skill and more about outnumbering, gear stats, abusing mechanics because of gear, etc. Garbage players get carried through bullshit.
If you can win in Dominion/Skirmish, but fold like a piece of wet paper once you’re put into a 1v1 situation, you DO NOT know how to play the game.
I want to give those modes credit for the strategic element, but there really isn’t any. It’s a chaotic shitfest.
Not really… From my experience, a lot of the more technical mechanics of the game are sidestepped in those game modes. You don’t have to worry about being good at the game so long as you have the following:
[] Gear Score advantage
[] Feats
[] A gank squad
[] Space to run

Power ups
Everyone’s running around like chickens with their heads cut off in these chaotic game modes. It’s just mindless dudebro nonsense.
Imagine if MvC2 had a mode where each character on your team was controlled by a different player and they were all on the screen at the same time… Everyone would just hit buttons until the match is over and a winner is declared. That’s how 4v4 in this game feels. It’s just not fun at all.
I feel like the larger portion of the community will complain about things that just require a little adjustment like the Shugoki and mask the bigger issues that are ruining this games balancing. Most players I match with know what they’re doing now, almost everyone has hit the skill ceiling of characters. Play the Warden, Warlord, Peacekeeper or Orochi to compete. Anyone with an attack that isn’t under 14f is not top tier.
