You cant xfc between proton cannons with the beam firing alone. The beam takes 20 frames of activation before it fires, give or take with xfc speed bonus for tony. Although I personally haven’t used it, but the iron man tutorial on the srk mvc3 guide said to use repulsor blast probably either :m: or :h: depending on the height for it to work.

Just a random note/thought. Been messing with MODOK, as a result, IM/MODOK isn’t bad… Unibeams and repulsors with a Balloon Bomb out there is hilarious.

Doing a repulsor spread and knocking someone into a bomb for a combo is funny as hell.

Anyone manage to convert anything worth a damn from Tatsu Assist?

Dash S>Fly combo.

I haven’t really played with it that much, but auto-Pilot would be what I expect to work best.

S is way too particular. Especially since the last hit of the assist pops them high. AP combo df doesn’t work. Hitscaling is too much from the assist. j.m, j.m, j. Down H -> Relaunch seems reliable and fancy enough.

I’ve only messed around w/ Akuma Iron Man for a little bit, but the best I could come up with was jump loop into a standard air series.

I use to dash s or cm.s if range looked iffy

not hit the full thing in a match though mind you

also I have been doing lots of training mode., and there is something that I noticed using doom n dorm and sent as dummy
these are the only characters you can do a traditional cross up on , its easiest on doom and It’s weird as hell and basically unblockable

in fact the other day I landed j.s .j.h j.m on sentinel with my back to him with it all crossing up

Ok so I really want to learn IM since I can use his beam to help my Dante and Dorm’s teleport. I can usually kill off a team before they can bring IM out but I want to good/better with him so its not like I’m using 2.5 characters. I know he’s a high execution low reward character but I’d rather use Tony Stark than Mags, Doom, etc

What should I learn first?

i’ve been working with akuma tatsu a bit. im beam/dorm dark hole/akuma team

tatsu, adf j.B, j.C land j.B, j.B, j.2C, j.S x2, 2B, 5C, S, double jump combo, dark hole+C bombs, C repulsor spread, 5B, proton was the max i could find for one meter. shit does 800, which is pretty good off of tatsu.

in a realistic situation, jump loop x2, relaunch double jump combo into ender is more practical and still does 780ish iirc.

i like having tatsu assist but i just can’t stand derp characters like akuma

Not sure there’s much Iron Man can do about it. Seems you’re better off trying to hit with with H’s at midrange than trying to hold your own in a firefight. This fight seems really hard if he has Haggar too.

Has anyone started using Smart bomb to cover their approach I was wondering how effective it is. What version of smart bombs should be used after an air grab btw?

Iron Man players need to make more use of:

Smart Bombs (L and M mostly)
Kara Canceling
2C

That’s precisely what I’m gonna start doing. I tend to lean on repulsor blast for random damage especially when I have xf3 left.

i use smartbombs all day every day… they are GOOD. i use L when poking but mostly when i want to follow with addf… i use h when i just want to poke then fly/dash away.

45 degree angled fireballs are the best zoning techniques in the game besides pillars… so if you got 'em… use 'em.

In the interest of having the UMvC3 character threads be as awesome as possible, I am posting here to offer up my current Ultimate Dormammu Thread as a base skeleton to anyone who intends to manage a character thread, or something similar, in Ultimate. It is currently stripped of information, and will remain so until about a week before release. I am not attempting to toot my own horn, but rather offer to others what took me quite a bit of work to do, so that those who would rather not spend the time on such things do not have to.

I have received a lot of compliments to-date about the structure, and a few people have requested permission to use its structure for UMvC3, so I thought I would go around and make the offer to others who might not be aware that someone out there has already done the grunt work for them (haha). Because I am posting this in all the character forums, and this is time consuming on its own, I have not taken the time to check for how developed the thread I am posting on current is. Thus, I ask that no one be offended at my suggestion if your character forum is well constituted already - I mean no intrusion upon your methodologies!
