Flying While Intoxicated: The MvC3 Iron Man thread

Flash comes in at 1:14 =] (hour 14min)

Thanks, I forgot to give a time stamp

Kei

Flash made it to top 16 no? Not bad for him.

Yea, Flash is pretty nasty with Iron Man. He’s definitely put in some really good work with his team(s).

Kei

flash’s iron man is the best I’ve seen by a long long way

/

I’'ve been doing double overheads with tri jump l~m on tall characters the m hits while your pretty much on the floor , I had to check a few times that it was still airborne

The reason I respect flash is because he uses a heavy execution character and doesn’t mistake it for bad. He doesn’t try and shit on his character, rather he speaks highly of him and is trying to show people why he believes IM is a very good character in MvC3.

^That’s the way Flash has always been. He picks the most technically demanding character first, no matter how much crap people talk about them, and finds a way to make them work for him.

been quiet in here lol

I didn’t know that in xf3 he can do a full ground chain ,

I’ve noticed this and Cap’s forum have been quiet lately besides a couple posts.

I’m trying to strengthen both my Cap and Iron Man lately. My Cap is ‘okay’ (my opinion), but I feel as though my Iron Man is garbage at times…but other times I’m just fine. For whatever reason lately I’ve been turtling it up pretty hard during matches…even when the opponent isn’t someone crazy rushdown like Wolvie/Mags.

I think I’m just doing too much analyzation since I’m ‘trying so hard’ to level up, that I end up just identifying what should be done…and realizing I didn’t tell my hands. I’m working on it though so I think I’ll be outta that in no time, and be back on my way to getting better and better.

I still have in the back of my mind that while I have both Cap and Iron Man on the same team now, that I’d like to have a team specifically built for each of them seperately. That will take learning more characters then though, and it’d be those who’ve I’ve not spent any real time with at all…like Tron who I’ve been eyeing super hard. O_____O

Logan scares the crap out of me I’ll take on a magneto any day of the week

lol I feel the opposite way. Against wolv I spam repulsar blast alot. It blows up divekicks and berserker slash. I only play online though so most wolvs arent very good. Any tips on the mags matchup tho?

against mag I just go nuts he’s far to mobile to zone

I just hop around till I can get him to block something then run my mixups

not really foolproof

so any of you think any of the new heroes will make good teammates for ironman? it looks like ghostrider might fit well with him as well as firebrand… shit even hawkeye. they all have ranged attacks and maybe even keepaway.

Hey folks, wanted to see if I could get some help confirming this since I’m pretty scrubby. It seems as though Spidey can punish a proton cannon that has actually hit him (unguarded) in a juggle state, by using Ultimate Spider early as possible after his air recovery.

One of my friends has been abusing this, and needless to say it’s pretty damn annoying to see him tag in Spidey when I’m down to just having Iron Man left on my side. It seems like a bug, because I can’t think of any other character combination where you get a free hyper on your opponent after they land one on you.

@ dime

I have my eye…on Hawkeye. (that might be the cheesiest thing I’ve ever said lol) In all seriousness though I’m lovin that he’s in the game, and I can play him over Taskmaster who for whatever reason I just don’t really want to play very much…never put any time into him, just doesn’t interest me I guess right now. (neither did Tron…but damn do I love her now lol) I haven’t looked at the other unannounced (aka leaked) characters so I don’t know them…I like surprises!

@ Toasticus

I just hopped into training mode to see if I could get what you’re wondering about. At first it seemed as though you were indeed 100% right about it, but it seems VERY inconsistent…and could end up SO bad for Spiderman if he misses that maybe 1 frame window of opportunity.

Another thing to note is that he can VERY much spell his own death if he does decide to risk it. You can jump up+back which is very quick reacting. Or even worse whether he hits the window or not…just lesiurely do another proton cannon during his hyper startup annimation…his maximum spider will 100% get hit for MAX damage since he’ll get hit by the gun itself which stops him cold from maximum spider.

So…let your friend throw that out there…and laugh your butt off when he does. Go get 'em tiger (pun intended lol)

Hey guys. I’ve been running a fairly bad Iron Man for a while now, as I’ve been experimenting with different characters to pair with Wesker and Dormammu. I really like what his Unibeam assist brings to the overall team, but I’m really stuck with trying to improve my Iron Man game so he’s not just there as an assist character. This may sound like a really really basic question to ask, but how do you guys land the first hit with him, and with what move? I’ve tried tri-jumping into jumping but that’s usually blocked or I screw up the link into cr.M, standing H, and so on. Cr. M on its own is usually just blocked as well. I’m fine (more or less) with his keep away game, but the instant I try and get in on an opponent with him I can’t get anywhere. Any tips to help an Iron Man newbie out?

first things first pratice tri jumping use j.m. or h or s if you want to go low

forget h in ground combos for now and just go l,m, launch

pratice some more

I get most hits from a tri jump mixup or a air throw , so learn how to combo from a air throw

try canceling c.m into fly then s tk the fly to get it closer to the ground just Luke magneto

ermmmm…

oh n try tri jumping into double overheads

wow…all this time now, and I had never even thought about trying to tk the fly command to see what happens lol.

Thanks quicks

As for the already great recommendations, I’d like to add that it might be a good idea to practice doing…

super jump, dash M (or H, or d.H, or S)

If the opponent is a normal sized character I like to try hitting sj, dash M, d.H, then land and do whatever from there. Doing an instant air dash is very very quick, and can cover a lot of ground so it’s a good idea to learn to use it.

I also throw in a tri dash M xx flight (before you land)…that works very well if they are conditioned to you going low after all your tri dash M’s. You get bigger damage since you’re going to do either d.H or S after the flight to start your combo. It’s also hard to pushblock since it’s hard to confirm a single hit…and might lead to a free combo if they try to pushblock the second attack that never happened

Kei

^^^ good flight and anti AG stuff there kei
