No you can’t trying it right now. The gap between flight mode and recovery of his :s: both on block and whiff is huge, still easily and very punishable.

You can cancel it into Proton Cannon and it will connect, but that’s pretty useless.
It’s a gimmick, if you do it enough (assuming it works). You can train your opponent to block and wait it out instead of immediately mashing once they see your launcher miss. Making it more safe in theory. I’ll go test that out right now. But does this only work on block, or on whiff as well?
I you can’t cancel launchers into special moves on whiff though.

Iron man has a pretty nasty reset game in the corner. The bnb i use is:

:s: -SJ- j:h: xx fly -> j:m::d::h: xx unfly -> :df: airdash -> :d::h: -land- :d:
:h::s: -SJ- j:m:j:m:j:h:j:d::h: -DJ- j:m:j:d::h:j:s: -land- (Corner) :h:Smartbombs
It’s reliable and consistent vs the majority of the cast. It does great damage and is a great wall carry aswell. Ending combos in the corner with :h: smartbombs puts the opponent in air tech state can can lead to some great options:
Forward Airthrow:
1 frame option when they tech. Forward jump airthrow catches back and neutral tech. Jump straight up for front tech. The great thing is that you can follow it up with a combo in the corner! As soon as you land from the airthrow, do :dp::l: smartboms asap into :l::d::h::s: -> air series. You can end it with Proton cannon for ~450 000 DMG or go for more resets! Make them fear this. If they start throw teching:
Air loop: j:l:j:m:j:d::h::s:
Jump up and beat out they’re attempt to throw tech with a quick j:l: that leads into a full combo when you hit the ground! After the j:s:, catch them with :d::h::s: -> launch, before they hit the ground. Great damage and looks pro! Jump forward for neutral and back tech. Jump straight up for front tech.
Repulsor blast:
You can use this if they press buttons too. A bit more telegraphed, but it’s an easy option that leads into follow ups.
Standing :h: 13 start up frames, 5 active, 32 recovery, -14 advantage on hit, -16 advantage if guarded.
Is iron man a good anchor? I see he gets good benefits from x-factor but I’m not good at getting in with him w/o assists.

Depends on your team, and who you are more comfortable with playing wise. He is the best anchor on my team because capt. america and thor need assists to get in more compared to stark. Not only that but stark can zone and turtle, limited zoning and turtling, but it’s still possible. The rest of my team can’t do that as effectively without taking risks.
Oh yea, can you tri-dash effectively for high low cross ups?

He’s not terrible as an anchor in my opinion. Reasons being:
In xfactor his normally slightly slower mixups, trijumps, and flight cancel instant overhead become as scary as any rushdown in the game.
While he isn’t the “best” at any one aspect (rushdown, zoning, locdown, chipping) he can do each of these to at least a decent degree… this helps him pick and choose how he will play a given matchup.
His level 3 is easy to land out of bnbs and does tons of dmg. If your down a character but have 3 meters he can change the whole match with 1 touch.
Most people cannot zone him out from the ground if he has lvl 3… soo easy to bait a fireball or beam and punish with lvl 3.
Running away from him in the air is also hard b/c he has double jump, 8 way air dash, very fast fly/unfly frame situations and air throw that can lead to relaunch… so doing something like trish runaway in the air to chip him out isn’t safe.
Also much like sent if he has 2 meters and xfactor he can strait wipe out any assist left hanging in front of him.
All that being said… I play him in the middle… lol Still… I think he can really work as an anchor and has come through for me many times when I was stuck using him last.
I play him on point I don’t have issues getting in as he has pretty good mobility and use the dog s cold star for lock down as it let’s you tri jump 3 times for a mix up . I don’t really try and zone as I think. iron man rush down is much better than his zoning
if I land a air jump h can I get anything from it magneto n wolves piss me off that they get full combos of the slightest touched
thx for the help. I’m not that good with tri-jump cross-ups/mix-ups and I cant do any of those fly combos consistently. I have trouble getting attacks to come out as soon as I land.

so as one of iron man’s problems is being unable to convert “random damage” into significant damage i’ve been messing around with trying to combo off of a regular jump mh fly but i haven’t come up with anything significant yet - anybody have any ideas? I suppose I could use an assist as I sort of ‘lower’ the opponent down with me, but I’m not the best with handling iron man’s tougher qualities yet - anybody else worked on this? i’d imagine it would be extremely important
I’ve been working on it, but due to the nature of the issue It’s impossible to pratice in training , I’ve been trying to do. m ,h ,s , air smart bombs then air dash down into a relaunch

This works pretty consistently for me:
j., j.:h:, j:d:+:h:, dj.
, dj.:d:+:h:, dj.:s:, land,
, :h:, :s: into whatever
The trick is to delay the dj.:s: as long as possible and the rest will be pie.
You can add a fly, but you’re making it alot harder for yourself for very little returns considering you have to eyeball how close they are to the ground. The string I mentioned in fairly lenient for this.
That will get you over 700k from a random mid air hit.
