Flaws of MvC2 and what Capcom should learn

Cyclops, Strider, and Spiral are all better spider-man, venom, and anakaris. All the former do not have airdash, and the latter do. You have no clue what you’re talking about. Go back to the TvC forum.

An airdash is only a mistake when the character build has good matchups without ever needing to use it. Sentinel would not need an airdash, that would be a mistake. If you understood the subject, you’d already know better. I feel that every post you make is a pile of mistakes waiting to be corrected.

Oh yeah, Sentinel, another character that can connect 3 or more hyper on his own, and even follow up with a combo. Oh, and CAN FLY, which is almost as good as an air dash, considering how he moves in fly mode. Whitout mentioning he has retarded damage output.

The four gods have or either an airdash, or fly, or can connect 3 hypers, or some other retarded bullshit. so, either you give everyone an airdash, 3 hypers per combo, fly or something retarded, or have once again an unbalance game. <- and that’s almos a fact

Balance and fun. Some matches were decided before the game even started in MvC2. Either way I really hope the game is balanced…and has awesome menu music again :smiley:

So i was thinking about it and i realized there is a very good model for how successful this idea could be from MVC2,its Tron.
Tron is the poster child for this idea, as a character shes average but her whole existence in marvel is based around something she has, for no real explained reason to have, which is the ridiculous damage on her projectile assist. Imagine tron without that one thing and her utility in teams drops through the floor.
The one tweak gave her utility that carried her through all types of teams that she would never have been on otherwise.

Yeah, imagine Venom flying like if he was controlling the wind or Ryu using magnetic powers to get his suit to carry him.

Not everyone can have an airdash and neither would it make limited characters be able to magically be able to compete against the gods, Strider, Spiral, Cyclops and others are able to compete against them in the right team without the need of airdashes or flying.

While the point is valid, using those characters was a particularly bad choice. Spiral has a ridiculous teleport system, Strider has double jump/wall hop, and Cyclops has a double jump; all useful movement abilities.

Actually i thinks that why he picked those characters.
Xtrem’s post was that airdash for everyone = problem solved
and niddhoggr’s post was stating that good movement doesn’t always equal having an airdash since those characters all have good non airdash movement options.

Oops! I assumed he was trying say that those characters were good even though they lack an airdash, which (to Xtrem, I assume) seems to be the only worthwhile movement ability.

Dhalsim has the best airdash outside of Mag/Storm, and flight mode, and unlike them, he also has a teleport.

No one plays Dhalsim.

that’s not the point. the point is that they don’t need air dashes since they’re already good without them. Giving everyone in street fighter a 3 frame jab would improve the whole cast, but does every character need one? No.

Dhalsim’s airdash is fucked up by the command normals, though is still very good, but definitely not as good as magnetos or storms. He just lacks the extra broken factor the 4 gods have, just like ironman.

And why, WHY is everyone opposed to have an universal airdash? WHY? i mean, all i hear is “Lulz, everyone shouldn’t have the same options” but that’s bullshit, what’s next? some character will not be able to dash?, some will not superjump?, some will not be able to block!?, or what!? airdash should be an universal mecanic, i don’t see why not honestly.

And don’t bring physics to the table either, cuz that would be retarded (ex: Ryu can’t dash in the air cuz his backstory).

I didn’t read the whole thread but Ryu’s and Megaman’s AAA aree hella reliable, the only thing is Ryu’s knocks way too far, and doesn’t cover a lot of area.

Sim’s got 99 problems but movement ain’t one

I played sim and i know sim players, his movement is too good but if you mess up you’re dead.
Its about what mags and storm have that sim doesn’t that gets him left behind.

  • both take a hit better than sim
  • both get better damage output when they land a hit than sim, even in sim combo vids theres usually alot of assist use to boost the damage of the combos.
  • both of them have more useful assist types than sim
  • both of them have much better dhc options than sim

Chun li is also a pretty low tier character with great movement. movement options is probably the most obvious cause of imbalance but you can’t just stack them on a character and not give them tools to do damage once they hit. Having her air super would have helped chun out alot in this game. als chun like sim has terrible DHC options

Universal air dash is a bad idea because it takes away an area where you can add balance and variety to characters. You yourself have said that airdashes are a buff to characters, so wouldn’t taking away air mobility to a character that is strong in other areas be a good idea? Also, universal air dash isn’t going to solve any balance problems.

ive been thinking about this…and why even have airdash at all? i mean, it doesnt matter what you do, air dash for everyone, air dash for magneto and storm only, air dash for all but only 8 way airdash for certain people…whatever you do, the characters with more options are going to immediately have an upper hand. maybe not a gamebreaking one, and thats not to say the characters who cant airdash wont be competitive (cable) but if you want a balanced game youll have to find some way to counter an 8way airdash, and im having a hard time thinking of how that could be countered.
