Flaws of MvC2 and what Capcom should learn

i agree with this…but im wondering what could you buff on a character that doesnt have airdash to counter someone with an 8 way airdash?

Iron man and War machine have an 8 way air dash, it is not rigged. The problem is how fast some of the characters can do them. If they nerf every crazy air dash, it would be much more balanced. I know in MvC1 if a war machine tries to low dash at you they eat colossus HARD.

Wolverine can keep up in MvC1(easily) without a air dash. Red Venom is considered a War Machine counter, and he only has a web swing that not much people use.

universal airdash? do it. sentinel needs it. especially cable, and strider, and…

it’ll be balanced this way. seriously. no one will be mad or get hurt or start complaining… listen to me capcom :rofl::rofl:

In MvC2, if they gave Cable a double jump, he’d instantly break the game completely open IMO.

If played right, you couldn’t get around him at all. No running away.

If they kept it the same and gave everyone dj and ad ala TvC, the God tier would still rule with an iron fist…some of them would be just plain scary, or nigh unbeatable.

No one wants to see a Spiral with dj, ad teleport…Strider…BH… double square jump overheads, or overhead into whiffed j hp land go low…lmao

Sentinels BS would be disgusting. sj stomp adf stomp ff stomp unfly stomp

I’d still play it!

I’m not going to treat you like a scrub or troll just because i happen to disagree with you, just as a person on the other side of an argument, and as a person on the other side of an argument you pretty much disproved your own point right here.

You just stated that two character with 8 way dashes still don’t benefit from it the way the other two do, which is basically the same thing i said about sim and chun. A low tier character with an airdash doesn’t automatically make them able to hold their own even against top tiers without an airdash. Which isn’t even the case in your argument because you’re talking about giving everyone an airdash.

If iron man with an 8 way dash is still lower tier than cable, how does giving cable an airdash help balance the game out? Keep in mind most capcom character would probably be less effective than IM with an 8 way dash due to lack of tools. It might make lower character better equipped to fight Iron man, but not new cable. In the end you don’t end up balancing the game you end up supercharging your top tier characters who didn’t have an air dash.

Fuck man.

This is why I can’t really call myself a TvC player even though I really like the game. You fucks just really make the community look bad.

I mean, its not justified that many marvel players shit and troll on the game but then I see dumb shit like this. You guys really make explaining the good points of the game difficult. Please know what you talking about or STFU.

Change #1 - More versatility. X-Men characters almost encompass more than half of the Marvel roster. This isn’t
X-Men vs Street Fighter 2. At most, 5 or shit, 3 X-Men characters need to be used. The rest need to go the Marvel’s
5000+ library of characters. And I don’t need 11 Street Fighter characters either. Or 4 Mega Man characters. Or
4 Darkstalkers characters.

Change #2 - No more laziness. Seriously Capcom, 2 Wolverines? And let’s not ignore War Machine barely
being anything different from Iron Man. Slap a different Voice Actor and add missles does NOT make a seperate
character Capcom. (Gotta love how his character art looked NOTHING like his ingame sprite.)

Change #3 - I honestly would love a boss rush mode. One that has you fighting all the previous bosses and sub
bosses from all the the previous Marvel made/Versus games.
Juggernaut, Magneto, Dr. Doom, Thanos (with Gems), Apocalypse, Cyber-Akuma, Onslaught, and Abyss.

Change #4 - A survival mode would be nice. At the very least, spiffy it up a bit, like how Guilty Gear Accent
Core added the whole stat changes/ability gains as you “level” up during it.

Change #5 - Better music. I believe this goes without saying. Tatsunoko vs Capcom had a pretty decent
soundtrack. Just anything but the shit you had before.

Change #6 - Better stages. Also goes without saying. With all the games and franchises both respective
companies have, I know they can think up some exciting or general fan favorite places from games and
the comics to throw the characters at.

Change #7 - Better animation. Not for nothing, but some character motions were fucking ridiculous. I’m
pretty sure Wolverine’s mask and boots were alive considering how they moved so…weird. You’d think
they were his limbs, ala Spiral or Shuma Gorath. And when he attacked, wtf was up with his face? It
looks like his jaw is bending reality.

Change #8 - Although I doubt they’ll do it in this way, but if they did single character 1 on 1 (ala Capcom
vs SNK 2), special character intros would be cool to have. Mind you, this is very unlikely to happen, but it’d
be a nice inclusion if it was the case.

Change #9 - Since we’re not using spirtes anymore, alternate costumes would be nice.

Change #10 - Obviously, make sure to balance the game. Although yes, MvsC2 is fun, it’s still a broken
mess. And quite frankly, if only a handful of fighters are used CONSTANTLY in tournaments as opposed
to the full roster’s 56, that is quite the fuck up.

Gotta love how Cable probably won’t even be in this game.

It seems like a lot of the reason that MvC2 was so broken is because of the difference in styles between the Capcom characters (predominately Street Fighters) and the Marvel characters. I would expect MvC3 to be better balanced just by virtue of the fact that we are more likely to get a variety of characters on both sides that will be built from the ground up.

I’m against having an air dash for every character based merely on the fact that I thought it was one of the things that made certain characters unique. Coming from a casual fan of fighting games, that is one of the things that caught my eye. Its fun to experiment with the different styles and options. Some had double jumps, some had air dashes, some could teleport, some could jump off walls, and some could fly.

All those little options helped round out the feel and presentation of the characters. To a casual player, I loved how each character’s tone was captured so perfectly. It seemed like every move that you thought a certain character should have had, they probably did have it or something close to it. I could not imagine them breaking that consistency by giving Juggernaut an air dash or double jump, for example.

This is what i really really hope will happen, but the reason i don’t shut up about this subject is the last time Capcom got to build Capcom characters from the ground up for a Marvel game we ended up with Ruby heart, Son Son, Amingo, Jill, Tron and Servbot.
They had a completely clean slate to work with and thats what they came up with, meanwhile Marvel got Cable.

Yeah I admit the Capcom additions were pretty damn weak. It really was a lazy-ass game and was simply a miracle it became what it was. They really could have cut out a lot of the fat (two wolverines, Iron man/War machine, servebot, roll, Dan, Sakura, Felicia; Amingo was decent but could have been done better, same with Son Son. Jill and Tron were alright designs I guess).

About air dashes, it doesn’t make sense for say, Juggernaugt to have an air dash. But still the game makes no sense just about everywhere else - We already noted how downright retarded people like Morrigan don’t have flight and only a parabola dash, but Sim and Bison do. Also dumb shit like Cyclops having all these superior zoning tools and normals WITH double jump over say, Ryu? I heard someone say Ryu was gay in TvC because they gave him an airdash…bullshit. That’s the one thing the versus series failed hard at - giving us limited Capcom characters. Marvel characters ran circles around Capcom characters pretty much throughout the entire series. I always hated that because I never really cared for the marvel rooster.

As I said, just put in hops, rolls, and a C button and it’ll be the best crossover fighter ever.

Stopped reading here. Lost all credibility.

Cut off the top 4-8 characters and cut off the bottom 20-25 characters and you’d have a game with about 20-30 characters in is that were decently balanced? That seems fine to me. The only problem with “broken-ness” was that all you needed to have a overly strong group was 1 of those 8 character on your 3 man roster and you could 1 character victory your way to glory with infinites and other things that lower tiered just didn’t have. And I don’t even MIND infinites… its the fact that you can land them off of ANYTHING almost. You shouldn’t have to worry about instantly dying against a character at the beginning of a match because they use a 5 button infinite loop. doom’s corner loop is fine, mags ability to turn a low or an overhead into a one touch? not so much.

If they have a cast of 60 characters who here actually thinks they have much of a chance of ACTUALLY balancing all those characters? What I’d really like to see is a “low-tier” mode instead of trying to kill off too much of what makes the different characters what they are. Hell, throw something about the story into it to make it feel more coherent even (I mean its not like if there is a fight between 2 worlds dan would be story wise fighting against Juggz). That way there is a way to get people who want to play thier favorite characters not simply get rapped because ryu has too hard of a time holding his own against a team of Storm, Cable, And Sent. Hell, make thier 3 tier groups even. Keep the normal everything goes modes, but make it so people don’t have to sit their trying to see if an opponent is going to play MSG and force them to use top/god tier characters to stay competitive.

Doing that would also mean they would have a lot more leeway on balancing as its much easier to balance 20 of 60 characters than 60 of 60 without just making sloppy duplicate characters.

let the players that want to infinite eachother to death infinite eachother to death, and let a low tier team take on a god team, but give those below top tier a chance to win matches if you can’t balance the whole game’s 60+ (I’m hoping…lol) character roster.

No, then you’d just have a new god tier.

no you wouldn’t… thats all the response necessary to that comment…lol. (well… and maybe the number is closer to top 12, but I wasn’t giving a huge theory based number or anything).

Stop it, Laban.

I know what you’re trying to do.

>:|

no you would.

You know you want to see Wolverine empty/hyper hopping all over the place with high and low mix ups and Americans just running and rolling behind people and those said people will just do nothing and block then run and roll themselves. Then all of a sudden Chinese and Mexicans dominate the scene; all is well.
