Flaws of MvC2 and what Capcom should learn

Jin’s normal does chip. He also has super armor, but it’s very crappy.

Good to see such fine paragons of the Marvel community voicing their well informed opinions so articulately.

TvC was made like the succesor of mvc2, by very same capcom.

i don’t know why people have a hard time admitting that, but capcom sold us tvc like the succesor of mvc2, so mvc3 must be the succesor of tvc.

Agreed. Also, Street Fighter EX was the successor of Super Turbo.

I know, he was the only capcom character i could think of with any off the top of my head.

Capcom super armor is terrible though, Jin’s requires him to be almost dead and Gief’s requires giving up his block, meanwhile hulk and juggs for example get theirs just for being who they are, and even the marvel armors that require a level work much better. How about just giving two capcom characters armor with no requirements.

You know how MVC2 will glitch and the new character will come in on ground level instead of jumping in? You could give someone a ground dashing tag in that doesn’t hit but doesn’t leave them open when they come in. Things like that don’t involve any super powers but even something that simple might give someone more reason to pick that character.

no, it was not

Congratulations, you’re half way there! Now, can you grasp the analogy I was making in my last post?

Block all day get chipped to death by assists? maybe a throw command is necessary?

It’s more about characters being imported from a game without a super jump screen vs characters designed for a game with such than backstory. If they followed ackstory, then Morrigan should at least be able to fly seeing as she’s always shown as doing so in cut scenes and promotional material, but she doesn’t in game simply because she never did in game in Darkstalkers.

damn userid 115669 you must be really good at blocking if you just block all day and never get mixed up, would you care to share some tips? (perhaps about, as david sirlin coined the term, ‘yomi’)

I did a post on the whole not being made for a game with a super jump screen issue, but that only holds true for the older character.

For example compare morrigan and ryu to *Chris (and by chris i mean Jill). The super jump screen argiment doesn’t apply at all to jill because she was made for MVC2 but the backstory argument is very important, because just like chris it gives a reason for her NOT to have a double jump or flight or really and special conditions that apply only to her. Jill isn’t low tier in MVC2 because she wasn’t designed for that system the way SF characters get screwed over. Jill is low tier because she just doesn’t have the tools to compete, and her back story doesn’t give her any either.

Seriously theres all kinds of things they could do to make a character more important.
like i said before a safe tag in would help

  • make it so when a certain character dies the next character on that team gains 20 or 25% health back. Think of the strats that ability alone would cause regardless of which character got it.
  • Have a character where your super meter builds slowly while they are in even if they aren’t doing anything to build meter.
  • If you want to get really outside of the box allow someone to absorb beams on hit, just make one character beam proof and see if that doesn’t shake things up. AND NOT WHOEVER THE STORM OF THIS GAME IS, not someone with godlike movement options, take a big slow character who is going to need help getting in and give him a small life gain proportionate to the strength of energy attack hes being hit with.

I could see The Hulk or someone like Sebastian Shaw Who’s whole stitch is the harder something hits him the stronger he gets till he releases that energy in punches & stuff like that pulling off something like this. Would be a pretty cool dynamic.

I just started marvel about a 9 months ago with and i don’t mind any thing thats “wrong” with the game. my only concern is what if they try to make MvC3 broken on purpose instead of “fixing” the flaws of mvc2

broken broken broken BROKEN WHAT DOES THAT MEAN i swear i’m the only person on here without a specialization in metaphysics

maybe u shoul take yoga

These are all good ideas , but remember that you don’t need any double jumps or flight or air dash to be good. In Cable’s case, all you need is a really big gun.

double post. srk is broken!

yeah , but i played the original version since day one, contributing to its small community for months, and was at evo for the side tournament, while also play testing the uas version there too with the other front runners of the tvc community. were you? so yeah, regardless of the fact that i havent played the new version, i keep up with it in the forums a bit, and i know how to play tvc.

i want cable back with ahvb. the biggest complaint scrubs have with that move is what they see off of the guard break. at high level play, cable aint just getting 3x ahvb off for free in the middle of a match like that. you mostly see that used to try to catch someone being random, and punish them and or the assist, or to reset the pace of the match.

EVERY ONE SHOULD HAVE AN AIR DASH TO COMPETE,EVERYONE!!! get that into your minds people.

Oh, and don’t bring cable to the table, cuz’ it’s either having an airdash, or being able to connect 3 hypers at once and have stupin zoning skills.

Btw, you’re DREAMING it you think cable will be able to do 3 hvb, or have godly zonening again, in case he’s returning, which i doubt. And in that case, he would need an air dash. because without that he would be crap.

3 hypers is a terrible mistake, an air dash, is not.

and this thread can be closed now, the answer is: TVC, that’s the game that corrected the MvC2 flaws.

Hopefully it will be similar.

So where’s my 40 frames of invincibility with A groove activation, or my Rage super meter? They should have been in TVC, since TVC is a versus game and the successor to other versus games right? Hopefully it’ll be in MVC3, can’t wait till I get Ryu level 2 tatsu super combo cancel into level 3 Shin Shoryuken.
