Fire Emblem thread: Now with more permadeath!

Another Update! (sure, nobody is reading these but who cares lol). Dangerously close to my endgame team, just a few more tweaks then I’ll be ready for anything (more precisely, the top-notch DLCs that are coming)

ARMY UPDATE!!!

Owain
RATING: 307
CURRENT CLASS: Dread Fighter
SKILLS: Vintage, Galeforce, Lethality, Pass, Resistance 10+
Overall: Say hello to my Mage killer. Swords, Axes, Tomes, can pass through enemies and hit the cowardly mages hiding in the back. This guy is jawesome, oh and he has Galeforce (:

Chrom
RATING: 253
CURRENT CLASS: Great Lord
SKILLS: Dual Strike+, Aether, Rightful King, All Stats 2+, Aegis
Overall: Dropped the horse. The reason why is because of GL magnificent caps, lack of a weakness, and still gains access to Lances. I trade that all for 2 movement spaces, which can be fixed with boots or something. Sounds like a deal to me, and he’s progressed quite a bit. I would like to trade Dual Strike+ for Armsthrift, but in general he’s solid. He can’t bum rush the front lines though, since his death ends the game and he doesn’t has Galeforce.

Nah
RATING: 319
CURRENT CLASS: Manakete
SKILLS: Odd Rhythm, Luna, Paragon, Renewal, All Stats +2
Overall: According to the game, she is the best unit in my army (319) all around. Absolute monster (no pun!!), most of her stats are in the 50s and renewal is gdlk. Also, she is only at level 21 which means she hasn’t even peeked her potential yet. Holy shit man, I’d hate(no love!!) to see this chick with Limit Breaker when it comes out.

Robin
RATING: 281
CURRENT CLASS: Dark Knight
SKILLS: Solidarity, Ignis, Rally Spectrum, Galeforce, All Stats +2
Overall: Ok, Dark Flier is cool in all, but Game Over’s because some fucking Archer with forge Silver Bow? Somebody I know she can own anyday of the week? I actually like Dark Knight for her because the game is not as horseslayer heavy endgame than Archers. Plus, Dark Knight has some decent skills I believe. Her resistance needs some help, wish I didn’t pick that as one her weaknesses at the start >.> but some levels in Falco can fix that.

**Laurent **
RATING: 301
CURRENT CLASS: Sorcerer
SKILLS: Vintage, Lifetaker, Tomeflaire, Astra, All Stats+2
Overall: I like this guy. Astra plus magic is nice, and Lifetaker makes him Tanky a bit. Still not as good as Morgan, but good enough to replace Gharnef.

Lucina
RATING: 279
CURRENT CLASS: Great Lord
SKILLS: Aether, Astra, Armsthrift, Rightful King, Galeforce
Overall: Ok, here’s the difference between Lucina and Chrom. Lucina can kill something and get the hell outta dodge, or she can kill the next big threat on the field with both Aether OR Astra. They almost always activate with RK. Oh yeah, Armsthrift to spam the legendary weapons. Sounds like front line material? Yes sir.

Morgan
RATING: 304
CURRENT CLASS: Sorcerer
SKILLS: Rightful King Galeforce, Vengeance, Tomeflare, All Stats +2
Overall: I’m not sure why the game dropped him to 304 when he was 309. But, he can solo entire maps and spam nosferatu. I heard-that he’s an incredible assassin though, with rightful king boosting OHKOs that’s something to look into. But, spamming nosferatu and soloing maps is fun as hell.

Severa
RATING: 277
CURRENT CLASS: Hero
SKILLS: Armsthrift, Pass, Galeforce, Sol, All Stats +2
Overall: Improved a little bit. Front-line brawler who won’t die easily. Can get around things with pass, and Hero’s caps are good.

Walhart
RATING: 261
CURRENT CLASS: Great Knight
SKILLS: Conquest, Luna, Dual Guard+, Rally Defense, Pavise
Overall: This guy has what other Pally’s reeeeallly want, Conquest. Because of that, I made him into Great Knight for that 52 STR/DEF cap. All brute, front-liner. Can even take mages on for a bit.

Yarne
RATING: 247
CURRENT CLASS: Hero
SKILLS: Astra, Armsthrift, Sol, Lethality, Pass
Overall: Hmm, I dunno what to do with this guy. He’s good don’t get me wrong, but it feels like no matter what he can do the other characters can do it better. I might change him back to a Tanguel for shit and giggles. 13 resistance is ballsy too <.<

Cynthia
RATING: 291
CURRENT CLASS: General
SKILLS: All Stats +2, Movement+1, Galeforce, Pavise, Astra
Overall: I love Cynthia. Tanky, Galeforce, Movement aid, 50 STR, solid resistance, well put together. Once considered the core of my army, now just a really good front line unit.

Kjelle
RATING: 304
CURRENT CLASS: Falcoknight
SKILLS: All Stats +2, Aegis, Galeforce, Lancefaire, Relief
Overall: You always need at least one unit that can clean-up, support guy, and keep things in perspective(together). Kjelle is it. She can fight, heal, runaway relief heal, very decent support unit.

Is Shadow Dragon any good? Awakening is my first Fe title and it got me hooked.

Shadow Dragon is straight garbage. If you wanna play another FE game I would reccomend FE7 (the first GBA game) or Path of Radiencr (the GameCube title). The latter one is prohibitively expensive these days unfortunately.

Hey now, Shadow Dragon isn’t as bad as folks make it out to be. At least I think it’s pretty great (I’m still coming back to it even after I’ve played the other FE games). I’d say it’s worth checking out, as a more “modern” vision of the original Famicom game.

If you can you should also check out the sequel, Heroes of Light and Shadow. It’s a remake of the the third game (Mystery of the Emblem) like how Shadow Dragon is a remake of the first game, but much better and more expansive. The Avatar/My Unit feature also came from that game, among other new features by the way.

The new DLC “Rogues and Redeemers 1” is a warzone! Holy cow, managed to beat it but lost the entire NPC party and some of my own guys. Hardest map in the game right now I’d wager (Camus pulled off 6 Luna’s in a row on Nah without RK=derp)

Good thing this file was hard/casual. Not losing a unit on this map is damn near impossible.

This is Fire Emblem at its pinnacle.

Well how did you play awakening? Did you play on casual mode, also did you farm on replayable maps in order to level up and get some easy cash

If so you will just have to readjust your gameplay style as there is no real “safe” way of playing previous titles.

As for the next game to play. I would say go to the first GBA fire emblem, it wasnt really that hard but it is a great one(one of my favorites I believe) but if you want to ease into permadeath fire emblem maybe try Shadow Dragon. I havent played that one in a long time but I do remember it being pretty easy.

New spotpass map Wellspring of Truth is a mirror match, choose your equiped skills and classes wisely as she gets real if you are like me and ran in with a team loaded with certain high level characters expecting to overpower the map enemies.

Wellspring is tricky. I tried to fool the engine by placing my sucker units on this map in place of my better ones, but they were still quite strong enough to wreak havoc. I even got really clever and decided to give all of Chrom’s weapons to King Marth, who I made into archer. In return, I gave all of Marth’s weapons to Chrom so that both can’t attack, and then I was just going to swap with both ingame and own the map. That didn’t work either

I still beat the map though (got lucky with some one hit kill spams). Aversa is nice, shadowgift and galeforce? By far best spotpass unit I’ve seen so far.

Also, the Limit Breaker DLC is out. Truly a game breaking DLC that’s worth every penny.

holy shit sword of seals is kicking my ass.
on chapter 21 and those reinforcements are rediculous.

Anybody tackle** Apotheosis Secret Path**? I made it to round four, and holy shit how do people get rid of the Socs with C.Gale tomes? AND they have Luna±-shit is crazy.

Just started Awakening at long last. I wish I had gotten a 3ds earlier to play this game. Anyway, anything to look out for in the early game? I’m at chapter 5 currently and have been running Robin, Chrom, Lissa, Sully, Stahl, and Sumia who’s surprisingly powerful so far with a stat total of 72 (next up is Chrom and Robin with 60).

wat difficulty are you playing?

Just normal classic, but I was thinking about restarting on hard mode. If it’s like past FE games, I’m guessing on normal mode, most of the characters are viable. Though I wonder if hard mode matters now since you have can have random battles to level up your army.

Man I’m so sick of sumia being a stuck up bitch.

Spoiler

I mean how do you only like three niggas in the set? come on now your really making shit difficult so I can get all these characters.

Just beat sacred stones. It was pretty easy but the story was one of my favorites from the franchise.

Loving this game. Definitely the best FE game I’ve played. Playing through paralogue 3 right now. Those freaking villagers have a death wish. They straight up run TOWARDS the enemy pegasus knight. Screw saving them.

You literally have to have someone use a Rescue staff to get them into a safe range while leading another one against the pegasus knights in order to remove them off the board because more often or not they will zone in on the villagers who even after being rescued will still run like lemmings to their death.

Actually, there really is no difference between both. Most of the characters that are viable in normal mode will also be an asset in hard mode as well, of course this goes without saying that you have to implement a bit more strategy when approaching certain maps in hard mode. Things really don’t kick into gear once you start play lunatic or lunatic + that’s when you have to start manipluating key abilities, abusing the best characters, and factoring out certain scenerios.

If you bought the gold or exp DLC (or both) it really makes the game incredibly easy no matter which mode you choose. Nothing will touch your units on easier difficulties but you can still be killed on lunatic if you don’t plan accordingly.
