Fire Emblem thread: Now with more permadeath!

The maid puns will be too strong with this game.

Depending on how creative/unique they get with the game this time, I sense more opportunities than ever for some delicious wordplay.

Looking forward to it!

Iā€™m at work so didnā€™t watch just please donā€™t make me marry people.

Thereā€™s only one thing thatā€™s making me look forward to it less.

Nowi probably wonā€™t be in it.

I just want it to be FE4 levels of quality.

And maybe FE5 levels of hard.

Who was that guy in the red armor at the end of in the trailer?

One of the best Fire Emblem character designs ever.

Oh, and Iā€™m pre-ordering it as soon as I get a release date for it. Iā€™ a sucker for Fire Emblem.

Wish I had a 3DS.

Oh well, I guess Iā€™ll finally make an attempt to get through Hector Hard Mode, then.

New Trailer for Fire Emblem if:

This is apparently the Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem crossover gameā€¦itā€™s known as Genā€™ei Ibunroku #FE

This Fire Emblem two versions/two games thing is worrying everyone right now.

As for me, Iā€™m going to wait on the translations so I can understand what the fuck the text is saying during those convos.

You mean THREE versions. A third part is supposed to come out later.

A version of the game with all three parts will be available as well.

Yeah but thatā€™s DLC. I donā€™t count DLC.

Honestly, it sounds like the two main separated paths are just DLC locked on the cart, to me. Especially given the download version has the ability to do either path but once you first choose one it locks you in for the other. Unless I hear out of Japan that it then starts to download for free the path you chose or it initially has a massive two game size download that wipes half of the data once THE choice is made, Iā€™m thinking the other path purchase as DLC just unlocks what is already on the cart.

Hopefully Nintendo isnā€™t dumb enough to try this scheme in the Western territories but under Iwata they have made a number of dumbass moves in how they handle Europe and NA. They at least better have the special edition version that contains both paths available in good supply if it isnā€™t going to be the main retail version.

On SMT x FE, I gave up on that game as dead and now it looks vaguely Persona/Devil Survivor-ish in its modern-ish setting, instead of straight post apocalypse like SMT or high Fantasy like FE. I hope it plays well to do both franchises justice.

Well, it looks like the download version, literally starts to download which ever path you choose after reaching the branching point of the game, but it still seems suspect.

Also some news most already probably know about the Phoenix (aka Undying Legion) mode and the removal of limiting weapon usage but now we have ā€¦

ā€¦new teaks to the Weapon triangle and explanation on weapon typesā€¦

Huh. I wonder why they switched up the old weapon triangle. It worked fine already. Adding different stat boosts and drawbacks with using certain weapons is interesting.

Awakening is good but itā€™s hard to say if itā€™s the best. The maps looked nice but the actual designs were not too complex.

I have been under the impression they are trying to ruin this series, which has been the only reason for me to play videogames for the past few years now. Considering the rumor Awakening was supposed to be the last entry until it sold unexpectedly well, how hard are they trying to keep it?

Luckily there are 12-13 previous entries we can play if we ever need a fix. Look at how the series has changed, the art style used to be 80ā€™s through moderately contemporary anime style but in 13-14 (Awakening & If) they took it in a completely new direction, making it neither European or Asian (Japanese?) influenced. Now itā€™s a part of its own world, resembling no land, for better or worse.

Most of the entries had slightly different mechanics including slightly different AI motivation (sometimes they always target the lord, sometimes whoever they can get the most damage off, sometimes always the one they are most likely to hit even if it does 0 damage; etc). Another example is in IV we are introduced to pairing and skills (later seen in PoR and Awakening; etc) whereas 5-8 were all similar in mechanic. Take your pic.

Getting rid of not just the weapon triangle but durability is a big step. In fact I believe they are trying to do what I have long suspected - turn FE into an unnecessarily anime FF type RPG, that is, something more traditional. FE has always been RPG but more tactical and less traditional and involved. So this is something to prepare for. I was kinda meh at first but Iā€™m thinking this will bring new challenges and gameplay experienceā€¦ Hoping it still resembles something called ā€œFire Emblemā€ though.

The crossover looks terrible, so does the new character and armor design. Canā€™t really get over it but eh

So they have a new base editor mode which can get invaded by opposing armies!

It looks like the Marriage/Children feature will be making a return in Fire Emblem fates.

@r00ster22 am cry.

I kind of wish the marriage/children aspect didnā€™t return but I guess that was a big seller for Awakening with some crowds, which means it will stick around sadly I feel at the expense of legit at least half of the potential male/female supports. Who would have thought the mechanic introduced partially as a homage to a game mechanic mainly used to ensure similar playable character back on SNES game for the second half after a time skip would over take the franchise like this seems to have done so.

All that being said, including it looking more and more likely that the game will come in two versions in NA like it is in Japan, I am hype for this game and I am grateful for Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker for helping bide my time awaiting this oneā€™s release.

Edit: I also hope the battles are more challenging beyond having powerful characters/weapons ready to clear out fodder and the Dragon Vein power stuff allow for some more ways to approach different battles beyond advancing from one side of the map to another or defending position A for as long as possible or until no enemies are left.

Also here are Japanese Youtube videos showing off the classes and the advance classes for the Nohr side and Hoshido.

@Wellman I agree, I was hoping they would go a more traditional route after Awakening Waifuā€™s made them all the money but it looks like they want to continue this route. It looks like Noir will be the version I get since it looks like theyā€™ll be putting the difficulty into that one.

Oh well, hail the maid.

Fuuuuuuuuuu. Itā€™s ok I think Iā€™m out anyway Amibo only characters I heard about has me done with Nintendo.
