Hey quick question guys. So the only Fire Emblem I’ve beaten is Path of Radiance(damn that shit was crack, i think i beat it in a few days)
Right now I’m currently playing through FE7(first one released here) I had it as a kid, but I did not realize the permadeath until it was too late and I was fucked so I gave the copy to a friend, but i been playing it from eshop on ch. 15. After this I’m gonna tackle sacred stones again, i still have the gba cartridge but it erased my data smh. Had 5 fucking chapters left.
And I also own Radiant Dawn and Shadow Dragon, but I wanted to know will some of teh added gameplay features in S. Dragon, Radiant Dawn, and Awakening make playing older ones seem too “hard” or outdated. like in FE7 you cant just give exp to people, so i only use certain people for combat and etc. But i ask this because i do wanna play a translated rom of Roy’s game and wanted to know has anyone played it and would it feel too outdated if i were to go back and play it after some of teh more recent titles?
The older “outdated” ones are better even if they’re more hardcore. The newer ones frequently borrow features from them so maybe that will tell you enough. FE6 shouldn’t feel outdated although I was going to start another play through soon. Awakening actually feels over polished but is good if you need a new one to play.
6 is like 7 but it’s more of a prototype. I wouldn’t sweat it, FE8 is one of the shortest ones. 6 is also one of the more hardcore titles next to 4 and 5. Shadow Dragon is probably one of the worst ones, although still playable due to likeness.
I see thanks for the insight. Yeah Sacred Stones did feel pretty short although I didnt finish. So i can probably knock it out next week assuming that I can finish FE7 this week
The new Emblems focus on character interactions and the like, as they stress pairing up units and supports over the traditional low-turn count playthroughs that made the older games more challenging.
I personally don’t like the way this series is headed after playing Awakening (though a good game in it’s own right, the pair-up system really dumbs down everything), I simply play because I just love FE too much, and I will more than likely buy the next FE game coming out.
5 is the hardest by far, the RNG in 5 is the worst in the series by far. 6 is harder than 7, but the units you get in 6 are just plain awesome. Anything outside HHM in 7 needs no discussion and well yeah 8 is the easiest
I actually never finished Radiant Dawn, and that was a hardass game. I got up to the dragon level in the tower, lost half my units due to the boss’s AOE and the OP dragons walking around, lost another half killing the boss, and was like “Fuck this.” It does not help that I hate that game and am unmotivated to play it again.
Hey, maybe under all the crap that’s been revealed week by week there’s some good gameplay in Fire Emblem Fates.
In any case they’re definitely putting more emphasis on pandering to the waifu/husbando fanbase and appealing to casual gamers this time around. My interest in the game has dropped significantly to the point where I honestly stopped giving a fuck about it and most likely won’t be buying the game come 2016.
Dude, do you want to trade/sell me your copy of 10? I only played some of it, one of the few I still need to knockout even though I played PoR like 45 times. We actually have a copy of RD but the disk is scratched though.
And yeah, the new pairing adds some new layers to the gameplay. Numerous times I would try to level a character up, try to get them a little extra exp but then an adjacent unit/partner will block the attack and make the kill, thus stealing the exp… It’s like, ‘c’mon man, that’s just another layer of crap I gotta maneuver around.’
I beat FE7 last week, felt good beating that game. Because when i had it as a kid I was screwed because i didn’t notice permadeath and had not units. I think i let like 5 people die on this playthrough. One was an archer that was just kinda wack compared to the others. He died on the last turn of a survival mission and I said fuck it. And i had few units die on the final mission, but I wasn’t trippin as it made the finale more epic lol.
But yeah gonna chill for a bit before going into Sacred Stones because FE games stress me out
For anyone here interested, DLC Maps for Fire Emblem if and DLC Classes: Ballisticians (Male) and Witch (Female). Because it’s not like they whored out the last game with DLC or anything like that.
Oh look, they even have a season pass option for 2000 Yen!
