I wonder if they could do this over XBL. I mean, they gave KOTOR a new level and Ninja Gaiden a whole bunch of new weapons, why couldnt they tweak 3s?
Second Impact Sean did a lot more damage and stun. He had a non-BS uppercut and a Hyper Tornado that would easily link or cancel from his target combo. From my limited experience playing him I can say he feels faster than he now does and was nerfed badly between games.
Capcom should have switched 3rd Strike Gouki, Ibuki, and Sean with their Second Impact versions. This would not completely balance the game but would make life more difficult for the top tier.
Because it wouldn’t really be 3s anymore. It wouldn’t be “arcade authentic”. And it’d be gay. The game’s been out for 5 years already, with high level tourney play. Everyone’s had 5 years to get used to the inbalances. Why fuck around with it now? So you might as well get this together in a petition for SF3:ver.4, if they ever release it.
Yeah, but Im sure you’ve had people who have been bitching and moaning for 5 years about wanting a more balanced game. Probably quite a few people have lost interest when seeing how much their favorite character sucked. I dont see a problem with making it a bit more balanced, if you have the means to do so now.
Hugo:
able to link crouching short/jab into light clap as a combo
make his running grab come out faster
give his wall throw more range
Just give hugo better normals. And let hammer frenzy never miss from jab, jab.

Wall throw with more range would be nice… I just wish he had more normals that could only be parried high.
Give s.MP less recovery so it’s safe from retaliation. Now THAT would be sweet.

That’s scrub mentality. Not playing a game because your favorite character got nerfed, so you have to learn someone new, or learn how to be effective with that character. Or bitching to Crapcom to build a new game just for you. You’d be in pretty much the same boat as SRK’s beloved Master Akuma. Not liking CvS2 because a jab can stuff a SRK. And thinking that CvS1 is better because SRK’s own everything. Same shit, different day.
Why not just make a new version of 3s for everyone, with 1 button that says “win”? That’ll make the game balanced as well. First to press the button wins.
Just so that I’m not misunderstood though: I’m all up for a more balanced game, but not at the expense of 3s.

Well, Im just saying that some parity in the bigger tournies would be nice to see. Im sure guys who play the lower-tiered characters would be happy to see that they actually have a chance in hell to win something.
Hate to break this to you, but making the game so that more than four characters have a good chance of winning a tournament is outside the relm of “scrub mentality”. Too late for 3rd Strike, yes, but this would be an ideal situation.
Thats another thing, I wasnt suggesting releasing a whole other game with fixes or tweaks like VF. That would probably cost too much. Im saying is that, if it could be done, release some kind of tweakage for the game over XBL.
If they just let people pick “Original Mode” or “Version X” it wouldn’t be much of a problem at all. Except, of course, that people would mob the new version if it was any good.

thats still better, how is that a negative? why not give ppl the same amount of work it takes with ken or chun and give it to another character as well? ppl mob sa2 with chun and ask no questions because the answer is obvious or sa3 with ken and just play. does it ruin the game for those characters? no. just the option would be suffiecient enough for a re-release of this 5 year old game coming online in america for the first time.
