Well they share the name Ivalice, but I still wouldn’t consider FFT and FF12 to take place on the same world (because the name is about all they have in common). FF12 and FFTA and A2 share more in common.
I also say that if someone from FF12 shows up, I want it to be Balthier

on account of him being magical flying around boss thing. Shadow lord (ff main villain) is a huge cumbersome galka. Galka are ffxi black people. No way is square going to represent.
Shantotto is a pretty funny choice for ffxi good guy. Her dialogue will be amusing.
Shuyin will probably be Tidus’ alternate costume if he does make an appearance
They better make Tidus with his outfit, and not some skin swap crap where he’s actually Shuyin. I just want his gear, not the character himself. However, a Tidus vs. Shuyin fight would be fucking awesome.
As for other secret characters, Vincent needs to be in. Ramza needs to be in. Yuna (Gunner form) needs to be in. I don’t much care about Balthier, it would make more sense to have Ashe (story is focused on her and all) or Vaan (technically the main character).
I think there is zero chance of Shuyin showing up. HIs outfit seems like a good bet for Tidus though.
Said outfit is all I really want. Especially since they fucked up Tidus’ default gear. 
honestly for a XII rep, it might be Balthier; with Warrior of Light and Onion Knight, they’ve already shown us they’re not afraid to pick “classes” over actual characters.
they could’ve done something like Hume Ranger or whatever for XI, but they chose Shantotto instead, who is important but not like the main character.
also we haven’t heard/seen any story involvement with her so there’s no evidence that XI (or XII for that matter) will get a villain rep as well.
I really hope to god that it isn’t Ashe or Vaan for XII because there’s almost no characterization for anyone in XII in terms of their fighting styles except for quickenings… at least Balthier starts off as a badass gunslinger (and this was furthered in PSP FFT). If you couldn’t tell, i kind of hate XII.
i’m looking at his outfit and the only different thing seems to be darker tones… it has been a long ass time since i’ve played X though :wonder:

Hmmm. Another possibility: They may not be going to character pairs with the non FFI-X cast. I heard the Dissidia Ultimania Alpha will have, among other things, 23 art pieces from Nomura. We know who 21 of those characters are. It’s possible the remaining ones might be Chaos and Cosmos, but it could also be an additional 2 characters. If that’s the case, it might mean there’s not going to be pairs from XI an XII, but single characters.
If this is at all accurate, Balthier and Gilgamesh please (Though a better possibility: Balthier and Lightning)

You might be onto something there. They won’t pick anyone out of the 3 starter city storylines to be the boss because, frankly, they weren’t memorable. The Galka = black people is pretty much truth . Kaum’lanaut (Eald’s brother) wasn’t as memorable as his “little” brother was, so it’s a good choice.
Hell, I’m surprised at Shantotto… well, not really. She was one of the only NPCs that stood out with personality. Naja Salaheem might have fit, giving the game its catgirl quotient. The only other one I can name is Prishe, and I thought she’d be the choice, considering she’s an immortal Loli Super Sentai wannabe.

Not to say it is better or worse than FFT, but Tactics Ogre was basically FFT created a few years earlier. Many Japanese(who had a chance to play TO on the Super Famicom) would probably have considered it a bit of a rehash. Now, obviously rehashes are fine to the Japanese(see the entire Dragon Quest series), but they do like FFIV and FFV more than FFVI.
