Final Fantasy Dissidia thread. Sequel announced!

I would want this, but only if it played like a 2D fighter. I still think that’s what this game should have been, with Chrono Trigger and Star Ocean thrown in the mix.

Square vs. Capcom would work as a regular Vs. games. Surefire money too. I’m surprised it hasn’t been done. Maybe after TvC…

I would have preferred to see a Capcom-style Final Fantasy Fighter before such a cross over (I’ve wanted to see a Capcom-style FF fighter since 1994, right after FFVI was released). But I guess with the existence of Dissidia, that’s unlikely. I think Square vs. Capcom is still possible though.

Anyway, for those interested, better translations of everyone’s fighting styles and EX bursts, again from Dullahan on FFonline.com:

While there’s no infrastructure mode, there will at least be party ad-hoc. So, at least those of us with a ps3 and psp can play over a distance.

I would laugh so hard if Tidus, hated character of SRK, was total god tier in this game.

And then go back to killing people with him.

As I said earlier, it’s interesting that the antagonist within Dissidia are all positioned almost within the right spots of the Qliphoth, or Death Tree, am I the only one who thinks this?

Look at each of the antagonist and they are positioned correctly to a symbol of the Qliphoth, you have Chaos standing in the position as Thamiel, then so on and so forth from there. I dunno, but I’ve found that interesting to say the least, however the protagonist side are not portrayed within the same way.

Now that this game is starting to look really good…I’m hoping that they also do a console release…imo, it’s potential is wasted being released only for the PSP, they should do a PS2 release as well.

I think the diagram is showing my what i’ve always suspected, that sephiroth’ story/life is basically the fall of the warrior of light, either what happens during fame or what happens in another dimension or another world (gaia/earth)

i’ve said this ages ago but people probably thought of me as nut’s but i think sephiroth is basically kalki

more on this later :wonder:

Sweet, I might buy myself a new PSP next week.

Wow there’s a character for every style of play it seems. Never thought Square could come out with something like this. Hell it’ll probably be better than most new “real” fighters lol

I thought Ehrgeiz was a pretty fun fighter when that came out so I am looking forward to this.

Out of fairness, there’s no direct comparison to make since it’s more like Power Stone than a pseudo-3D fighter like Tekken or VF. But I got to play Power Stone 1 & 2 myself and rather enjoyed them, more so than VF at that, so this does at least seem potentially competitive from what we know about the character variety. On the other hand, if Dissidia allowed multi-player games that were similar to Spawn: In the Demon’s Hand, which I loved to death, I would feel really compelled to throw away $125 on a PSP just to get this game.

I hope it plays out like Power Stone. That series is still on my top ten fighters list. I’d run tournaments for them if I could get my hands on DCs and copies of the games.

i can settle for party ad-hoc, as much as I enjoy infrastructure it beats nothing :]

I really have to count the lack of netplay against it, considering that quite a few games on the DS have the capability.

This is really just 1 on 1 Kingdom Hearts, not so much Power Stone. I have absolutely no idea if this is going to be competitive or not, nor do I especially care since I will probably never play this against another human being.

Frankly, I have a feeling it’s going to be broke as fuck.

Lol…theory talk here, but what the hell, since we don’t know for sure, it’s fun to talk about it anyhow. I vouch for Seph, Squall, Kuja, and Ultimecia as potential Top-Tier…obviously guessing by the little info I’m reading on how they fight. Seph with his long ass masamune blade for reach, plus it states that he’s fast so there won’t be any handicap for his long range making me believe how this will not be a huge advantage to him in Dissidia up against the majority of the other characters, plus his super sounds ridiculous easy to do untold damage by just simply “tapping”.

Squall sounds like a pure rush down character, so I’m assuming he’ll be very fast along with his combobility, again, I do not see how this will not stop him from being a great character, considering many top-tier characters in ‘fighting games’ have a strong rushdown and combobility to add with them. Kuja sounds like he plays with a runaway mentality, and if he’s as fast as they state, plus spamming magic at a distance, this sounds like it could potentially be very powerful. Yes, this is me thinking Kuja will be O. Sagat like in that he forces you to come to him, but with the ability to runaway while doing it.

Ultimecia sounds kind of like Kuja in the same sense, maybe just not as effective.

Just my thoughts of course, however again, all theory, so don’t hate if you disagree, lmao.

Apparently, Shantotto from FFXI was revealed to be a playable character. It was announced at a Final Fantasy XI Japan Fan Fest.

pic of what she looks like in ff11:

Japanese version will be voiced by Megumi Hayashibara, one of the most famous jpn voice actors.

:shake: :shake:

ahaha what the christ

Due to the absence of Ramza Beoulve and St. Ajora/Ultima, I hereby declare that this game is epic fail.
