[Fighting Stick] Octagonal Gate or Square Gate for ST?

Square…Octo is shit.

that’s retarded

Why?

You shouldn’t be scared of p360s.

-trolls suck-

I’ve used p360s before, deep dps are basically not gonna happen. Dunno how people those things.

Deep dps are possible lol. They aren’t that bad lol.

-trolls suck-

I played on p360s at SJSU. Shit was not playable. Don’t tell me what I can and can’t play on.

  1. Octo, cuz i use both charge and QCF chars.
  2. see 1.
  3. Yes. but for some reason i can’t play shotos or O sagat for shit on square gate, and i have no problem using charge or QCF chars on octo neither.

the real question is how people can play on LS32’s? those sticks are hot feces and has a larger throw than that of JLFs. The shitty popper pivot fucks your whole game up clean easy. JLF is more popular and common for a reason, has more; accessories, modifiable options, etc. I suggest you just stick with it and be done.

But hey, that just my advice…you don’t have to follow it. You can use whatever the FUCK you wanna use!

Ok sure, I don’t have a problem with them.

I felt the same about ls32, it didn’t feel that great compared to the jlf I now have.

-trolls suck-

I really hate to use this argument, but I will.

According to Ganelon in his thread recounting his experiences in Japan re:ST seimitsu sticks are the standard. LS-32 to be precise. Most other games use Sanwa JLF series sticks.

So there’s going to be a good reason why the LS-32 is favored for ST there. It could be that the LS32 is what was found years ago in the Capcom Impress cabs that SF2 games debuted in. Or it could be that the LS32 has proven it is the players choice in this game through thousands of players and millions of hours of gameplay. Could be both.

But people DO play on them. And they think they’re pretty good.

Or in jp you play on what they have.

-trolls suck-

They have it there for a reason. The players prefer it. Otherwise it would just be JLF’s like all the other games.

Is it really that? If that was sfII standard could they not just be replacing the seimetsus in those machines when it needs to be replaced?

-trolls suck-

I can recall but so many times i hear constant complaints and excuses from LS32 users saying how fucked up their game was due to cabs using Sanwa parts at tourneys in the US, saying how they’re “Not used to playing on sanwas”. ROFL. Which is why i said, If you plan on living in and or going to Japan often JUST to play ST on cabs there, I suggest you just stick with Sanwa cuz thats what everyone is going to be using in the US Local and Major tourneys.

Or at least have a second stick with all sanwa parts and go back and forth between the two. Whatevers best to help and or stop your goddamn bitching and complaining excuse making ass mutha fucker…ROFL. Seriously, its getting old now.

nah, it’s not that. The old SF2 stuff wore out ages ago. Additionally, ST shows up in many cabs like Astros that originally had games like Virtua Fighter in them that used JLF’s. That means the operator had to have taken the JLF out and intentionally put an LS32 in there instead of replacing it with the same thing.

As far as the complaint of “not being used to Sanwa” goes it is just a lame excuse given by people who want to think of any reason for their loss. In America you should always assume that Sanwa is what you’re going to find at a tournament. By choosing to practice on LS32 most of the time you are making a conscious choice to perhaps improve your peak performance at home and at most tourneys with the sacrifice of being at a slight handicap in some high level play situations.

I’ve never used an octo gate but I’ve always heard they increase the throw on a JLF considerably so I’ll pass.

As far as JLF vs. LS-32 goes, I can’t imagine it making such a difference that it would throw your game off. Once they are broken in they feel about the same to me.

But if ls32 is that great, why is sanwa getting put into everything else?

-trolls suck-

I don’t really know the answer to that question. It could be that the stiffer, shorter throw is more conductive to ST’s gameplay. It could just be tradition.

Sometimes a joystick will just get associated with a certain game. In years past before the surge in popularity of the Japanese sticks everyone used the competition joystick for most games except Marvel 2. For that game the P360 was the joystick of choice. People in Korea seem to favor joysticks with rubber grommets instead of springs for Tekken.

However, it’s all immaterial. My original point was that the LS32 is not some “hot feces” black sheep rogue joystick that nobody uses. It’s a tried and tested joystick that thousands of players use everyday.

and yet still till this point, you refuse to mention nor explain the pivot problems of that on the LS32…LOLOLOLOL. Keep it classy.

LS32 is better for ST, but sanwa JLF is the standard for all games, so everyone just uses that. JLFs are alright though.

Because it’s not a problem. It’s just different. Years ago people used to bitch about the square gates in Japanese sticks (much more so than in this thread). Over time they became used to it and now most of us wouldn’t take anything else.
