Fighting Games: Bottom of the Barrel

Given the impressive variety of fighting games SRK has collectively played over the years, I was curiously wondering what the community considers to be the worst.

Everybody has a personal favourite that has special meaning to them, but what FG was memorably terrible for YOU? What FG made you feel physically sick and had you wishing to throttle the developer of such an abomination?

It’s time to name and shame your personal worst, share with SRK the one FG ghastly enough to give you nightmares and why you believe the world would be a better place if it was erased from existence.

Finally, though I fear this thread may attract plenty of it, please keep the flaming, trolling and insults to a minimum…

The only one I’ve played so far that made me feel that way would be the SF4 series.

After I started playing ST, I literally could not stand these games.

There’s that one fighting game that came out recently staring a bunch of bikini women.

It doesn’t even function properly and is way overpriced. It’s like the Big Rigs Over The Road Racing of fighting game.

Anything deserving of a comparison to Big Rigs must be shockingly bad.

Marvel 3.
I bought a PS3 for it…

Death Brade is the worst game I’ve ever played, and I’ve played Bloodstorm.

There’s a few I can think of.

Ballz 3D was released late in the lifespan of the Genesis and SNES, and it looks every bit as bad as you would think a fighting game with 3D graphics where the characters are made out of balls in the Genesis and SNES would be. The funny thing is, it plays even worse than it looks. I believe Screwattack on Gametrailers did a video on it.

Kasumi Ninja was on the Atari Jaguar. I think that’s all that needs to be said on that.

Pit Fighter was the first fighting game to use digitized graphics that would later become the trademark of the first 3 Mortal Kombat games. It was also a fighting game that was released before SFII, and the gameplay really reflects that. I can’t really explain it, but if you can find video of it, then by all means, watch it.

Found the game

I’m not really sure how it can get much worse than this.

Kabuki Warriors.

This was actually the very first game I drew for Old School Onslaught 4’s mystery game tournament. Before I had played it an emulator, but the $15 I won for third almost wasn’t worth having to play this POS game again, much less on a competitive level. The way you moved around on a 3D play on a 2D system was so bad.

dam that game looks terrible

Mortal Kombat series (haven’t played the latest one or VsDC yet). I used to like them as a kid until I realised there was depth to be found in fighting games and then MK just didn’t stand up.

Pit Fighter is definitely shit, fun to play co-op with a friend, but not Vs.

Wasn’t the US version of the Ranma 1/2 fighter for SNES pretty bad? I forgot what it was called. It has 2 blonde Captain Commando looking guys as the main characters and they played exactly the same.

MVC3. X Factor, Pheonix, instant teleports and crossups everywhere, automatic mixups and general bullshit. Game is straight ass. Not mechanically ass, but design wise ass.

Bloody Roar 4, one of the worst fighting games i have ever played it single handedly killed the series. Not quite Big Rigs standard but not far off

The video says this game is at EVO?? is this true?

I don’t like MvC3 either, but I personally wouldn’t call it the worst I’ve ever played. Worst fighting game I’ve EVER played? Probably some Yu-Yu-Hakasho game on PS2. I forget the exact title. Even as a kid who didn’t know anything about fighting games at that point, I could tell it was atrocious. It made the DBZ games look like masterpieces by comparison. Shudder

Kart Fighter.

I don’t think it can get any worse than that.

I’d say Time Killers. It was so bad that I abandoned it MIDGAME when I was 9 years old. And we all know how much 50 cents was when you were 9.

Survival Arts, by Sammy.

This game makes me scratch my head/facepalm at all those fans who once wished for a “Sammy vs. CAPCOM” game.
