I picked up some new terms in this thread. My friends are going to think I’ve gone loco when I say “Oh ya, got the bogo with the zabooga!”
Misused terms and memes are the only things I dislike. Any term that describes a mechanic easily is fine by me if we all agree on the meaning. Option select may not be self-explanatory, but it has an agreed on meaning for the phrase.
Although, I do feel a bit emasculated when I’m forced to say “footsies”.
So basically terms used to describe actual things in game are fine by everyone (some people don’t like some but we can agree they’re all necessary) and its split on the “swag talk”.
Count me in for being anti-gangsta. What do super heroes and karate dudes have to do with any of that?

The terminology isn’t the problem. It’s people desperately trying to ‘fit in,’ parroting everything they hear on streams, Youtube, etc. and treating it as casual language with no context, instead of a learning aid or shorthand to be used at appropriate times.
And corny some bitches copying hood slang never goes well, that’s nothing new.

Yeah! It’s supposed to be a VF2(?) glitchy strong option select that lets you block mids and lows at the same time!
(In later VFs when the glitch was no longer present, the term changed to describe plain guard switching as a specific time)
Why does everyone hate technology? o_O I like that term. I hate all the ones that don’t explain what’s actually happening. Mix up and cross up are fine with me, but things like free, godlike, swag, etc. are annoying. Maybe I am a bit too prim and proper lol.

Personally i’ll take Vortex over people saying ‘oh and here comes Akuma trying to execute a series of moves that follow into each other and reset the situation again and again…oh the fights over’ if it had been called ‘the loop’ or ‘the wringer’ or whatever, people would still be complaining about it because they hate fighting against a vortex and not the term itself
Technology is better than ‘oh i’ve never seen x character played in this way’ The idea of slang is to make it easier and faster to communicate a concise idea. If it doesn’t do that then it’s generally refered to as ‘nonsense’ or ‘jibba jabba’ by Mr T. and not ‘slang’
