I don’t find any of the FGC lingo annoying, in fact, it’s what makes me LIKE the FGC. When I joined this site I didn’t know anything about it, but I’ve learned, and it’s something that’s unique and I appreciate it for what it is. While some I like more than others (fuck all of you swag-less haters THANK YOU BASED GOD THIS IS A CELEBRATION) it makes the games more interesting. But then again, I don’t participate or watch stream chats, so I don’t let other idiots ruin my enjoyment of the words.
I enjoy combinations of words, put together in a way that conveys something…i don’t repeat the same word over and over and laugh about it, that used to be known as ‘being mental’
Zoning is the gayest term you could use. Extra points for saying proper zoning.
You used to be called a turtler (nothing wrong with the strategy, just looked down upon) for doing that kind of shit but people thought that was insulting so they made up a term with a different connotation.
See me on the internet
Ten million youtube
A hundred fifty myspace
Ten million myspace
Young BasedGod met a girl off of myspace
Now I’m on TV like
ELLEN DEGENERES
salty
technology
vortex
anime
and for the record: Marvel 3 is Marvel 3 or Ultimate or MvC3 or anything like that… It’s not “Mahvel” and it’s MOST CERTAINLY not “Crack”
Turtling is different from zoning though. Zoning in it’s simplest meaning is simply controlling space. Turtling is simply holding down back or just being there waiting for the other guy to jump or do something dumb so you can uppercut/ultra through their fireball.
As I see it. It wouldn’t make much sense to call a Dante flying around and chucking sword swings and plasma a turtle
I’m sorry, but it occurs to me you didn’t come up with any of the words or terms you used in this post. Stop plagiarizing.
Buy One Get One! Our Boxing Week special has been extended into January!
This. The word used to have a meaning, but now anything and EVERYTHING is “swag”. A word loses meaning if it means anything.
Although it’s derogatory, I’m Canadian and I still find “Canadian Reset” hilarious. Like calling c.fierce the Mexican Uppercut.
As for “vortex,” I just don’t like the term because there were already perfectly good terms for it like okizeme (oki), and wakeups, that imo sounded better. I have a bit of a bias because I started in the VF scene and first picked up a lot of terminology there (so I know what a true “fuzzy guard” is).
I know this isn’t lingo but James Chen needs to stop commentating on games he doesn’t play especially 3s.
Here is Chun’s supposed huge hitbox on back fierce.
This one just irked me the most, but there probably enough mistakes to start a series on things James Chen gets wrong on commentary.
I really don’t get the hate for vortex. When you have a mixup that leads immediately into another mixup vortex is a good term for that. Akumas setups off hard knockdown are like a vortex in that it sucks you in an doesn’t let you out.
