Fighting game lingo you find annoying

god, yall is some soft-serve ice-cream ass niggas

I don’t find any of the FGC lingo annoying, in fact, it’s what makes me LIKE the FGC. When I joined this site I didn’t know anything about it, but I’ve learned, and it’s something that’s unique and I appreciate it for what it is. While some I like more than others (fuck all of you swag-less haters THANK YOU BASED GOD THIS IS A CELEBRATION) it makes the games more interesting. But then again, I don’t participate or watch stream chats, so I don’t let other idiots ruin my enjoyment of the words.

That’s just cosmic.

I enjoy combinations of words, put together in a way that conveys something…i don’t repeat the same word over and over and laugh about it, that used to be known as ‘being mental’

So another thread where old men/kids trying to fit in can collectivley bitch about something? Don’t worry I’ll hop right off of your lawns now.

Zoning is the gayest term you could use. Extra points for saying proper zoning.
You used to be called a turtler (nothing wrong with the strategy, just looked down upon) for doing that kind of shit but people thought that was insulting so they made up a term with a different connotation.

SWAGSWAGSWAGSWAGSWAGSWAGSWAG

Lil B is a genius once you realize it’s all satire mixed with some real songs.

See me on the internet
Ten million youtube

Ten million myspace
Young BasedGod met a girl off of myspace
Now I’m on TV like
ELLEN DEGENERES

salty
technology
vortex
anime
and for the record: Marvel 3 is Marvel 3 or Ultimate or MvC3 or anything like that… It’s not “Mahvel” and it’s MOST CERTAINLY not “Crack”

Pretty much anything that came about from SF4 onward. Also, certain JP terms, because people don’t know how to use them properly.

I am free to Canadian Dust.

Option-select

dont care if thats the term for the exact act, i hate the way it sounds, and its robotic.

Turtling is different from zoning though. Zoning in it’s simplest meaning is simply controlling space. Turtling is simply holding down back or just being there waiting for the other guy to jump or do something dumb so you can uppercut/ultra through their fireball.

As I see it. It wouldn’t make much sense to call a Dante flying around and chucking sword swings and plasma a turtle

Plinkin is da best term eva.
Im plankin on a tree
IM plinkin on a qanba

Okay but seriously the only lingo that would annoy me is if “Kappa” was being said in real life

True, maybe I’m disgruntled over misuse of the word zoning.
Or maybe I’m just a salty scrub who hasn’t adapted new technology. Stay free

I’m sorry, but it occurs to me you didn’t come up with any of the words or terms you used in this post. Stop plagiarizing.

Buy One Get One! Our Boxing Week special has been extended into January!

This. The word used to have a meaning, but now anything and EVERYTHING is “swag”. A word loses meaning if it means anything.

Although it’s derogatory, I’m Canadian and I still find “Canadian Reset” hilarious. Like calling c.fierce the Mexican Uppercut.

As for “vortex,” I just don’t like the term because there were already perfectly good terms for it like okizeme (oki), and wakeups, that imo sounded better. I have a bit of a bias because I started in the VF scene and first picked up a lot of terminology there (so I know what a true “fuzzy guard” is).

That’s why I have headphones in my ears as I play or turn the volume down on my stream. I can’t fucking stand it when people say that.

I know this isn’t lingo but James Chen needs to stop commentating on games he doesn’t play especially 3s.
Here is Chun’s supposed huge hitbox on back fierce.

This one just irked me the most, but there probably enough mistakes to start a series on things James Chen gets wrong on commentary.

that’s dumb.

That’s hypocrisy.

there are obvious differences between using common words and clique jargon. you are mincing words for silly reasons.

I really don’t get the hate for vortex. When you have a mixup that leads immediately into another mixup vortex is a good term for that. Akumas setups off hard knockdown are like a vortex in that it sucks you in an doesn’t let you out.
