Fighter's History Dynamite thread

I do use the short quick one in between opponents’ fireballs to get closer.

theres a chance that if u misjudge the distance u will wiff the fist and they get whatever they want

You can’t use the fast one in combos. If you buffer into the alternate motion, you’ll end up doing the Zetsu followup instead of the original punch. I think they put this measure in place to prevent regular infinites being possible, but his crouching LK is weird - for some reason this move is exempt from that rule, and I’m not sure why. For pretty much every other one of his normal moves, buffering into qcf, b + P ends up getting you the followup first. So you have to use the regular version if you’re doing the usual Lee combos.

Also note that depending on the distance (and character?), doing qcf, b +HP can often send you THROUGH the opponent instead of hitting them. This could be useful as a sort of “crossup” to hit them when they’re holding in the wrong direction, but it could also get you thrown.

That’s not completely true, I’ve tried with every bufferable normal and you can cancel into the fast rush from every one of them.

It is true that I randomly got the follow ups instead of the rushes though, but those instances were few compared to the ones where I got the rush. I don’t know what triggers it, it’s pretty weird.

I can confirm this. I’ve seen some match videos where people will just use and combo into the fast rush punch.

Ok, I stand corrected :looney:

After experimenting with it some more, it seems that cancelling into fast rush punch only gets you the immediate followup if you do the move quickly, like within the first few frames of the normal move hitting. If you do it later (the game gives you plenty of leeway on when to buffer), then the regular punch comes out. I guess I was doing it too fast when I tested it off his standing/crouching hard punch, since those come out slightly slower than light attacks, you have more time to begin the motion after pressing the original button. It’s more difficult off light attacks but still possible. Weird!

I would still stick with the regular version for combos though just in case.

Ryoko has some tidbits up. Will be adding more stuff as the day goes on to other pages as well!
STAY HUNGRY

So whats good with dat Yungmei? She runs away pretty well. For combos, I figured out j.hk, airball, cr.lkx3, sweep. Thats about it.

in corner you can do j. HK, air fireball, walk forward, s. LK x2, LK upward dragon kick thing

or j. HK, air fireball, walk forward, s. LP/LK x2, flame kick (you have to start mashing LP/LK quickly)

out of corner she doesn’t have much, you can do j. HK, air fireball, sweep. If you get an opening on the ground you can do s. HP into flame kick, or s. HP/HK into LK upward dragon kick

She has a corner infinite with her Aura Smash from what I’ve seen in the combo video that was posted in this thread. I managed to get like 6 reps max, the timing is pretty weird due to the “stun slowdown” (dunno how it’s called).

IIRC you have to tiger knee the Aura Smashes for that. However because of the slowdown of the stun it’s REALLY hard to get the timing down.

Yeah you need to tiger knee them.

TK’d smashes are really good, they have very little recovery.

You know someone should take a stab at a matchup chart for this game. It’d be really helpful to new players.

I only really know matchups for Jean though since he’s my main.

Maybe we can do one together. I could give my opinion on Mizoguchi, Ryoko and Yungmie.

You should help with the wiki man! Mizo could definitely use some love on there!

I totally want to do a matchup chart. The old Japanese chart that was found earlier in this thread is complete garbage. Yungmie at #4 above Karnov? Riiiiight…

The only problem is, nobody ever totally agrees on these things, lol. Look at nohoho’s Super Turbo project where he asked top players for their thoughts on their main characters’ matchups. There’s quite a bit of variance between some players for the same matchups. And that’s a game that’s been out pretty much exactly the same amount of time as FHD, but has gotten a lot more high-level play…

With the amount of time I’ve spent with this game I think I could fill out a lot of a chart with little difficulty, but there’s still a lot of matchups I’m not too familiar with and might end up guessing on. I’ll try to get one up soon and see what you guys think!

Lets get some Guile Li faqs going. I mean, Yungmie. My bad.

I don’t know if this has been posted but there are some 2004 casuals up on this Youtube account.

REALLY great matches in these.

I should be on ggpo/2df playing this hopefully in the next 2 weeks.

I can help out a bit but I haven’t played in a while :shake:

this game… is too good…

i can help with the lee matchups if needed
