FightCade 3S (GGPO killer)

You’ll have input delay either way. Check out the lag test thread for more info.

Tebbo, I was meaning it’s on a sprite sheet rather than seperate stills on some separate files. I dunno why I thought it would be the latter.

just wondering, have you updated the polling rate of your USB port to 1khz?

btw, how come none of you have logged on to fightcade.

i havent and dont know how. how can i change that? i only know that for my mouse since it has its own software.

@dander oh ok i get you. ya i cant imagine them not being on sprite sheets.

Which video config is more close to the arcade monitor without 3D projection effect?

it depends on what OS you’re using, but i used this for windows 7: http://www.overclock.net/t/596276/changing-usb-polling-rate-to-1000hz-or-lower

FWIW, i have a cthulhu pcb, which works fine on my ps3, but i still needed to update the polling rate on my PC to remove lag.

oh btw the guide is mouse-centric but don’t worry about that. in the setup.exe, just uncheck “Mouses Only” to see your stick. if you’ve done everything correctly, you should see the filter enabled and set to 1000 hz on your device: http://snag.gy/7Cnyi.jpg and this is tied to the USB port, not to the device; so if you plug your stick into a different port, you’ll have to use the tool to update the rate on that port as well.

I’m running Yosemite here and I can’t open FightCade at all. I just keep getting this Problem Report:

FightCade quit unexpectedly.
Crashed Thread: Unknown
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL)

Anyone have any ideas? I’m soul crushed.

I’m trying to use fightcade but I can’t accept challenges for some reason. The game simply doesn’t load. Strangely I can spec and challenge myself just fine. Any suggestions?

Currently using ver 0.35.

This looks pretty slick. Most important feature is the custom challenge sound. That SF challenge sound was always so loud on GGPO that I just muted it, but missed a lot of challenges because I wasn’t always looking at the window. I’m gonna spread the word.

To the makers of Fightcade:

please please PLEASE make a version for Android, not to actually play, but just to spectate.

if you want a custom challenge sound while using official ggpo client and servers, you can edit the challenger-comes.wav file in the assets folder (and probably reencode and replace the mp3 file as well - i’m not sure which file the client uses).

or you can just download pyqtggpo, which is the chat client used by fightcade.

I tried doing that with GGPO, but it still played the default challenge sound. I could never figure it out, but someone did link me to pyqtggpo some months ago. I would like to add or edit some themes to the client though.

@isamu‌ if you have a feature you want in Fightcade, you should try contacting the dev on Twitter, but he also has an SRK account! His name on both SRK and Twitter is @pof (https://twitter.com/pof)

This uses the exact same emulator as GGPO? So every update will just be cosmetic… right?

Well it doesn’t play like a clone of ggpo and I’ve even heard say that the netcode has been slightly improved. So there’s that.

Thanks for the suggestion but I’m not on Twitter.

I’m struggling to get this to work myself. I always find a way to make things harder than they need to be.

That’s because SvC runs on MVS hardware, and CVS2 was on NAOMI\PS2 etc.

There is a way to play using PCSX2 however.

Agreed, I can’t play FBA anymore.

According to papasi on the “Shmupmame - ST” thread, the problem is it seems the guy behind Shmupmame didn’t release his sources and doesn’t reply to people trying to reach him.
So I doubt anyone can implement something in it, right ?
Or maybe things have changed now…

As for Groovymame, the guy seemed highly responsive to people’s demands and trying his best to improve, but the thing is it’s mainly for CRTs, using win XP °___° , and a hassle to setup.

Months ago, I came accros a post by Telesniper which claimed to have a great time using this… actually, I wonder if it’s not the closest to arcade you can get if you own a CRT as it will perfectly adjust the emulator’s speed to the exact refresh rate you should have. As far as I know, it’s the only emu that allows this.
Plus it generates real scanlines on CRT without using any ectra filter.
Damn.
You would still have a small lag with USB, but apparently it could be fixed in mame.
