Fight Money system needs a Rebalancing

You get what i mean, FIRST requirement to place your price above market price is absolute quality, you pay theyr perfectionism, SFV is far from that

No point in arguing with Daemos anymore, dude. He is now a full time Devil’s advocate. Bison’s cape is all that matters.

Whatever man, fortunately the market is already giving Capcom what Capcom deserves. Too bad all these self-entitled costumers are a very strong force.

Evo with people screaming their lungs off on ESPN didn’t happen.

The fun thing is that i want dat SFA cape almost as him, i just find offensive have to pay it 4$ when back to SF4 you got 5 character costumes packs for 5$

That was years ago from a previous era, and that functioned under a completely different business model. SF5 uses a different business model, and we’ve known about it for more than a year. No point in comparing the two anymore. In the long run, SF5’s business model is better for everyone involved.

Just wait til they discount or bundle shit if you don’t want to dish out the cash to buy shit when it’s premium. How simple is that, really?

60 bucks to keep everyone under the same roof (no mandatory purchase super, ultra, supreme edition) with a premium on costumes? Works for me. Even if you only spend 60 bucks and spend some time with the fight money you get everything gameplay related for no other charge.

I’m just not personally going to rage about things that don’t strengthen my character or enhance the gameplay.

@Daemos is right. You can’t expect everything for free. Capcom has been very transparent about the Season Pass containt right from the beginning. Can’t see how this is “robbery” or dishonesty.

Paying 4$ for a costume, having to unlock colors again through a extremely tedious and time-consuming method or paying more FM for them. It’s for the best interest of everybody indeed. The stellar success of SFV and overwhelming positive costumer feedback shows that very clearly.

Real talk though, there was nothing wrong with the way SFIV handled DLC. The only offender was Super being a mandatory disc upgrade, and still that game had a hefty amount of content for the price. Both AE and Ultra also were a good deal. Fun fact: Casual players don’t mind paying for DLC as long as there is content to justify it. They even buy CoD and FIFA every year for $60, they buy NRS games every other year plus DLC. All those guys making jokes about Super/Ultra/Hyper/Champion editions eventually caved in and bought the game. I am also pretty sure this niche that is satisfied with SFV would pay again as well, like they did during throughout SFIV life span. I mean, they are paying 10 bucks for a stage so…

Capcom chose this new method for basically two reasons: it’s more profitable at long term and it’s also safer to milk on the competitive crowd. What’s the point of spending a lot of cash in development if it’s SF and people is gonna play it anyway? Let’s deliver the core game our costumers paid 60 for in small pieces whilst we get more money from them through DLC. I thought Capcom learned something from the past, but nope they just found a new way to keep their scummy business practices.

That’s exactly what Capcom wants you to believe. Way too early to make such claim.

If they were going to charge you for gameplay related content they would have done it lone ago.

Killer Instinct said before the game launched that you wouldn’t have to pay for any game modes, just the characters and their costumes and they followed through with that. Capcom would be burned at the stake for stating many multiple times before launch that all gameplay content would be free and then changing up later. If there’s anything they’re going to switch up on, it won’t be anything as vital to the integrity of the game as that. Thats one of the core philosophies of the game they set fown from day negative 180.

Its exactly why they are charging a premium on the costumes and certain stages because they know your gameplay is free. They’re already charging 60 bucks retail for the gameplay, they can’t feasibly ask for any more than that without a much larger backlash than what they’ve gotten. Most fighting games have sworn off charging extra for gameplay any way

I didn’t mean that Capcom would break their promise, just that realistically you can’t expect that most players will have time to grind and get all FM content. Game modes and general enhancements, sure they will keep being free, but characters, stages and costumes will be harder and harder to get down the line. To say that you will get all gameplay content for 60 dollars throughout all SFV life span sounds disingenuous. It’s possible of course, but very unlikely for almost everybody. That’s the logic behind this model.

KI did better imo. I don’t mind supporting the game I put hundreds of hours into, but I don’t like the idea of hidden paywalls and overpriced DLC.

There really isn’t that much fight money content to get though. What can you get with the fight money other than characters, colors, stages and costumes? That’s pretty mcuh it. The only thing necessary for gameplay is the characters and you can quite easily get the FM for the current 6 DLC characters just playing game modes regularly. Long as you don’t spend your money on costumes and colors too much you should be good. Plus with the daily challenges coming that should give more time to buy those extra costumes and colors.

60 dollars really gives you most of the game especially if you’re mainly a competitive player. You can grind the FM for the 6 characters really quick. Everything else is cosmetic fluff that doesn’t change the game and that’s fair enough overall considering how other F2P MOBA games charge you up to 30 dollars for one costume and hella premiums on things necessary for gameplay and strengthening your character.

You know I am not talking about this season, but the seasons to come. Everybody can get the first six characters by a reasonable amount of grinding, but will that be true for the next wave of characters? Don’t think so. Single player modes are the main source of FM, but you can get it only once.

You assume there won’t be more single player content and that the daily challenges will not give sufficient fight money.

I like how people say “then don’t buy the extra colors, stages, or costumes with your FM and you’re fine.” Meanwhile, Capcom continues to dangle it in front of us like a carrot while advertising these new costumes in the bulk. “Hey, look what you can have. Want to look cool to your friends and get these awesome, neat costumes to show off with? Want to get Cammy in that skimpy bathing suit? You know you want to. It’s only $4! Oh, and while you’re at it, get this spiffy looking Chun Li in this dress while you’re at it…oh, for the price of say…$6? It’s premium, that’s why it’s so high!”

I can see the hand-rubbing Jew-ry from here.

They said they will be releasing info soon on the targets that will let you get more fight money daily. You can write another post about how they won’t give you enough or whatever, but they know they need to get more FM available for people.

tbh I don’t think thats an unfair assumption though. The main bulk of my fight money came from knocking out trials and the character story. Other than that its just grinding online and trying my best to get through survival. Im pumped to see whats good with these daily challenges though.

Daily Challenge - “Buy x item on the PSN / Steam store.”

There will be more single player modes (extra battle is supposed to be the next), but only time will tell if they are gonna provide us enough FM to keep up with the flow of upcoming content. DC might not be so helpful too.

I might be wrong on that sure, but technically there is already a lot of FM available through survival and an infinite amount by playing online. Just takes way too long to be feasible.

Today’s Challenge: Win 200 ranked matches in a row.
Reward: 500 FM

I am actually worried that they’ll give a BS amount of FM for the Daily Challenges too. Hopefully they prove me wrong.
