Fidel Castro Dead at 90

Firing squad ain’t shit compared to the atrocities the U.S. has done.

i still wanna know if peeps can get steam in Cuba.

And your multiple sources feed you with crap. Crap that you choose to believe intead of getting to the truth. You also choose NOT to educate yourselves. I don’t know if you’re aware but it’s been maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany years since someone got a death sentence in Cuba. Even those who got it (two latin american terrorists that killed an italian tourist with a bomb in a hotel back in late 90’s, all financed by Cuban americans in miami) are doing life in prison instead. There’s your human rights violation.

The Trump example was a means to make you realize how easily you can be deceived. Identity politics is no excuse to make up for that garbage of a man getting elected. He will be president because god knows what his voters were thinking, oh wait, they weren’t thinking, you’re media brainwashed them into thinking he is a great man.

I’ve been a part of the online FGC since like 2004, but i’ve been playing fighting games my whole life (since SF2). At first, i used to visit mostly tekken zaibatsu (big tekken fan here). Our internet limitations are mostly in broadband, and that is mostly due to the blockade. You guys have no idea of the things we can’t do because of the freaking blockade!

We even have to download apps from the app store using VPN. If your IP is identified as cuban, an error message will be shown telling you that you are forbidden to download. We can’t shop online. The list goes on.
I don’t play on steam so i’m not sure if there’s access, but one thing is for sure, there’s not enough speed to play online if we could.

Fidel was a piece of shit but he was at least better than Che, I will never understand the worship of that dickbag.

Btw happy birthday to all my Cuban homies that weren’t allowed to celebrate because God died.

I bet that those motherfuckers now will tell me that the killings on the 80’s all over central america which were funded by the usa government didn’t happen because that is what their revisionist history says.

LOL

I wonder how many north koreans just stay in cuba and say fuck off

False equivalency arguments by you Castro supporters. You guys are just as big of pieces of shit as him. Nobody is defending a damn thing the USA has done, they’re judging him on being a ruthless tyrant to fucking murdered his own people. The fact you think he isn’t a piece of shit is pathetic.

Your arguments are nowhere to be seen, bro. Get your facts straight, rather than rehashing the same hatred comments.

How is constitutional republic where people vote for crappy representation better than a communist police state?
Huh?
Why did Batista get overthrown while Castro didnt?
Because he was better at…dictating? Hahaa
Under Batista Cuba was one of the most advanced and prosperous Latin American countries. Under Castro it was 3rd world poverty. You realize that a sizable amount of the population was either killed or fled. All that was left were those loyal or good at pretending.

Well it is true in recent years (how old are you?) things have eased up, for example Cuban citizens are actually allowed to obtain passports (since ~2013 I think) and leave the country. Yes, depending on your perspective, you could build examples of fraud and exploitation of the special refugee status where people supportive or ambivalent to Castro actually want US benefits (probably more now), but other than being a red herring that is small potatoes considering the other issues.

Regarding the human Rights issues, which are, in fact real, dont take my word for it listen to Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Freedom House, The UN Human Rights Commission, Resistance International, Americas Watch, etc…

And with Cuba’s internet being one of the most tightly controlled and heavily state censored, I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and assume you are a victim of the state’s effective propaganda machine. hahaa But hey dont take my word for it, listen to the IFLA, reporters without borders (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Press_Freedom_Index), Committee to Protect Journalists, open net initiative, etc…

Well considering Cuba rescinded the moratorium on the death penalty to execute some people who tried to escape to the US, I wonder why people would risk so much to get away. Cuban refugees is a special status but is it worth risking life and limb as many have done to get to the US? Yes towards the end of Batista’s reign Cuba was a bit of a Vegas style America’s playground with a seedy underbelly and kickbacks, but citing this as teh reason for US support of Batista’s regime is short-sighted (and curious). Really the US was terrified of nuclear holocaust and this was the overarching reason behind the cold war strategies (no comment on whether they were right or wrong).

Because despite Cuban resources, under the communist rule the Cuban economy was a sham. Look at the economy prior to the revolution and even prior to Batista’s 2nd reign. I realize the embargo didnt help, but the embargo is an understandable strategy considering the proximity of the communist state and the to nations’ history. Your vague comment about ‘want to keep the good things’ is also a bit curious. Maybe you care to expand.

I have spoken with people who have lived under dictatorship before. It is interesting, some spoke nostalgic of it and wished to live under the dictator again while others feared desperately for their lives. With an authoritarian comes absolute control and some people (as long as they keep out from under the boots of the govt) are able to find a nice well of stability (with petty criminals generally afraid/less common), but if you happen to run across the sights of the state your experience is likely to be a living hell. So sorry if I dont take your word for it (living in a heavily censored communist Cuba and demonizing refugees with words seemingly right out of the mouth of the state), but I have a lot of real data (non-anectdotal) to back up my position. Also you seem to be taking this criticism of Castro personally, so I encourage you not to view it as criticism of something you hold dear to your heart and homeland, but just criticism of Castro’s (the Castros’) policies. Everybody loves Cuba (tourism is necessarily a main revenue source). hahaa

C’mon man. There’s no need for that. Don’t take it on me.
A ruthless tyrant to fucking murdered his own people??? You just don’t know a damn thing about Cuba or Fidel. You’re even using the word tyrant instead of dictator and, in case you don’t know, there are many technical differences among those terms. I’d rather not discuss further with you because you’re taking it on me now. Peace

@hubcapsignstop:

I’m 30 years old. Remember, you know your facts, you know a lot actually, i’m glad i can discuss this with you, but you don’t live here. Fabrications is all people build here to take advantage of the refugee status. For example, i know A LOT of people who have gone to live in the US under that status. Not a single one of them is for real with it. IT’S ALL FABRICATIONS. Like 99% of the time. Trust me.

I’m aware of all those resolutions, mainly coming from the UN, sanctioning Cuba for violation of human rights. Again, I wish you could be here to see the people shocked because we just don’t know what they are talking about! Remember Iraq and its “weapons of mass destruction”? That’s an equivalent of our human rights violation.

I won’t deny the internet was censored. It’s true. But that’s been changing a lot. It’s minimal now. Mostly anticuban sites run by cuban americans in miami. The censorship (the one that bothers the most) nowadays comes mainly from fucking network administrators (you know, IT guys at work) who want all the broadband for them, to download whatever the hell they want. It’s hilarious. Why don’t you come and spent a few vacation days here and see for yourself? haha J/K. I wish you did though

I’m thinking you’re talking about the incident with the Regla’s boat regarding the death penalty. Well, imagine every week people highjacking boats with hostages and killing people just to get to the US. If you don’t set an example then everything goes to shit. It’s harsh but it is like that in matters of state (for example, in china people are sentenced to death for embezzlement if they were state officials depending on how much damage they caused to the economy, that’s their way of saying: don’t play with my economy). That was no joke. On the other hand, those who are caught trying to live in a boat but without putting other than themselves at risk are just debriefed and returned to their homes. If anyone told you otherwise is just a big fat lie.

Cuban resources are veeeeeeery scarce my friend. Very, very scarce, and the ones we do have (nickel, sugar, tobacco) are almost free in the international trade lol. It’s sad, but it’s true. Our economic model doesn’t work indeed. That’s why huge changes are being made. I personally don’t think it’ll work unless we have a market economy (like in china), but that has little to nothing to do with what fidel is being called here.
The good things I’m talking about are mostly social accomplishments that were nonexistent under Batista’s rule (who became president in 1952 after a coup d’etat, frustrating the elections in which a progressive party had like a 90% chance to win). Free health and education, social security, a huge agrarian reform, nationalization of foreign companies that were exploiting us, an urban reform that gave people a house to live in, etc …and WE WERE FINALLY SAFE! The amount of assassinations Batista ordered just because people were suspicious was huge. He was the tyrant, not Fidel.

My words are not coming right out of the mouth of the state and i’m sorry you think that way. I’m not demonizing refugees, i’m just telling you the way it works. You do realize that friends of mine have actually used the refugee status to depart from Cuba. That’s what i meant by “people close to me”. I’m taking it maybe somewhat personally because I, like 99% of the cuban people, hold Fidel dear. That’s just the way it is.

I once fucked a cuban girl for a toothpaste, fight me.

Good for you!

Get a fucking clue. I’m not going to be nice over anyone defending this piece of shit. Just like I wouldn’t be nice to anyone defending Hitler, Stalin, Mao, or any other fuckbag like Che Guevara. They can all rot in hell and they all attempted to skew statistics. Fuck em.

How has no one figured out he is a troll poster, he has 8 posts all in this thread and his account was created when this thread opened.

idk, some people just lurk like weirdo’s until something personal hits them and then they post.

Nope, no troll here. My account was created 4 years ago (are you blind?) and I’ve been visiting shoryuken for a long time. A lot longer than that. Since 2005. Just never posted anything. Whatever info i was looking for, i always got it without asking and just browsing because games get here a little later and the research had already been done.

@Songo[KthX]: haha look who’s telling me to get a clue. The most clueless guy in this thread. Also, you’re too angry. Be careful with that blood pressure. I’m done with you.

I have to wonder how much of what we are seeing about him now is basically “cult of personality” in effect. Will be interesting to see how he’s viewed down the road…

I’m not angry at all, I am quite alright. I just don’t put up with bullshit. See ya later, I would say post more. But unfortunately that would be dishonest of me

In usa as a tyrant due revisionist history, that is for sure.
