Remember when baseball coach Ozzie Guillen praised castro a few years back in Miami? Remember the backlash he got from the Cuban community? I do. People escaped Cuba on man made rafts for a reason.
How’s having a dictator different than the 2 party systems all around the world, where you can vote between a piece of shit and a puddle of vomit?
What choice is that?
Voting between two people that do not have the voters interest but the companies that sponsor them in mind, or voting for one person that has his agenda in mind.
Big fucking difference.
Also if life under Batista was so good and the life under Castro was so terrible, why did the Cubans put their lives on the line to topple Batista, but nobody raised their fists against Castro?
Perhaps because Castro had a tighter grip on the Cuban people, and since Cuba is a rather small country - it’s easier to control and chokehold any opposition before it even gets a chance for action
History of human rights? Cuban refugees? You’re just another of those who actually falls for that shit.
Those “refugees” are only taking advantage of the US preferencial treatment to Cuba when it comes to migration. I wish you could see them here doing dumb stuff and taking pictures just for people in miami to see them. It’s hilarious. After tons of ridiculous stuff is done by them and captured on pictures or video footage, when they are finally granted passage to the US, they continue with their normal lives and forget about that. The human rights manipulation is just a means to and end. People close to me have done that. And they visit Cuba every year. What kind of refugee goes to visit the place he is “running away from”?
Most latin american people say that if they had the privileges cubans have, they would do all kinds of stuff too in order to go live in the US.
The reason for the US position is simple. They don’t like anything that stands in their way. As someone said is this thread, cuba was basically their brothel and they didn’t like it when we stopped being so.
People escaped in rafts because of a catastrofic economic crisis. The USSR went down and we were all alone, plus the blockade (embargo haha). It had nothing to do with human rights either. Yet we survived. You want to know why? Because we knew the good things we had and wanted to keep them.
She slammed andy monta~ez because he shook hands with a cuban musician that was pro-fidel. Nothing about the meeting was political but ahe decised to go after one of the biggest names in salsa over nonsense.
That was exactly what I had in mind. Batista turned the wealth of the country to his profit and that of the rich north american. The cuban people was left starving or had to go for prostitution. What a splendid life …
In constrast, Castro brought education and welfare to all of the cuban. True, life was not perfect in the island (how could it be, since the blocus was applied ?) but Castro had the will to push its country forward (not just for himself or for a rich cast).
Still, it’s good to see not all people here believe or watch the crap from Fox news or other neo-liberal media. The FGC is not the caricature some people think
Sure, but we have multiple sources and we have the means to do our own individual research and educate ourselves. Opposing views only mean nothing to you; because you’re not allowed to have them. Castro would literally round up people with different views and put them to a firing squad.
Next paragraph; IDENTITY POLITICS! I wonder if that’s all you have to work with? You do realize RONALD FUCKING REAGAN WAS AN ACTOR.
I do know exactly what Castro was, and he was a piece of shit.
