Yes, this would work.
Apprently, Toodles won’t answer PMs or emails but will honor the ordres made on his web site.
thank you for you reply,
I ask here but no answer from him, i was worry because I don’t see his activity here for months.
by the way I emailed him already.
Hi!
- Is it possible to build Saturn-to-Playstation converter using FHW?
- If I’ll chain it together with Tototek converters to attach Saturn controller to other consoles (nes, snes, cdx, 3do and neo-geo), will this work?
Yes and Yes.
You need a common ground PCB that works with the PlayStation. You need the FG W Converter and a printed circuit board that works as a Playstation controller
Why get another converter? (Yes it should work) Get a the MC Cthulhu it would support just about everyone of those systems you mentioned. Actually the NEO-GEO doesn’t even need a PCB, NEO GEO pads and stick have their buttons and joystick wired directly to it’s controler cable with plugs directly into the system.

Hello,
I’d like to use the FGW converter to get a Saturn pad to work on Xbox 360. To do that, I need a common ground Xbox 360 controller to sacrifice, yes? Is it then possible to add a ChImp SMD to that to get the Saturn pad to also work on PS3? (I’ve done the ChImp SMD mod to an Xbox 360 TE stick before).
EDIT: I am out of the loop. It seems that the PS360+ is an alternative to padhacking?
Thank you
Hello again
I have the FGW Converter. I’m confused by the VCC points on the board, since there are 3 of them. Which one should I connect? All 3? Does it matter?
Thanks
EDIT: I guess it doesn’t matter? I ended up following the pictures in the previous thread and now the Saturn controller is recognized through the FGWidget and Madcatz 360 pad via USB.
Yet another troubleshooting question… while I have the Saturn controller recognized via USB (through the FGWidget and Madcatz 360 PCB), only the d-pad and start button are recognized in Windows. None of the other buttons do anything. The d-pad and start button are all on the same “side” of the FGW, while the other buttons that are unrecognized are on the opposite “side” of the FGW. I tried replacing the capacitor on that side (C2), thinking that maybe the capacitor was the issue since only half of the controller doesn’t work, but changing capacitors didn’t do anything.
I’ve checked continuity between the Saturn controller and the FGW, and between the FGW and the 360 PCB. Everything looks okay. Plus, it looks like the VCC and ground are connected correctly because half of the Saturn controller works.
It’s probably too specific a problem, but does anyone have other suggestions on what else I could try? Any input is appreciated.
Try remapping the buttons. I’ve noticed sometimes using the FGW that if I plug it in after the console has been on that I need to remap the buttons sometimes. Just hold start until the directions don’t work anymore then press them in the correct order. Jab, Short, Strong, Forward, Fierce, Roundhouse, L, R.
OMG that worked! Thank you so much! I didn’t think that I had to do an initial remapping (just a mapping?), so I assumed I had a wiring issue. I did the mapping and everything works great. Thanks again. You’re the real MVP.
Sorry for the dumb question but I’m a little confused how this would be used with an mc cthulhu board. Basically I want to use a Saturn controller with the fgw and then run it to the cthulhu so I can use the Saturn pad with ps2, snes, pc engine, etc. Do I solder wires from the FGW button outputs to the A-H and 1-9 columns on the cthulhu?
Hi, I have a question about my FGWidget Converter bought on OCTOBER 2014, is it the right place to ask ?
I’m using it with my Sega Saturn pads/sticks for a supergun linked to MVS board.
Because I didn’t want to cut any wire of them, I wired a Saturn pad plug extensions.
It is working fine with my official pads and official HSS-0136 arcade stick.
BUT it’s not working with my Hori Fighting Stick SS : and this is the one I want to use because better than HSS-0136 !!!
I tried this stick on my Saturn with the same extension plug extension (I have 2 other one that are uncut) : it works perfectly.
Here is a picture of the FGW Converter : on top it’s the Neo Geo plug and on the right it’s the Saturn extension plug

DETAILS :

the Saturn pad extension is UNofficial, so here is the mapping scheme :

mapping scheme of the Neo Geo cable pluged to the FGW Converter :
(buy the way, I also soldered the black wire number 8, which is +5V, to the VCC but it’s not shown on the pctures)

=> Does someone has an idea why this is not working with the HORI arcade stick ?
=> I really need it to work…
I don’t see anything that stands out, but I would double check your solder joints.
Take your soldering iron, heat up what could be problem joints, maybe adding a tiny bit of solder where needed.
You can also get a multimeter and make sure you have no breaks or shorts.
The Hori I believe requires the missing +5v line from the Neo cable. You can probably use the unused wires to power the VCC line. I’m guessing the FGW is parasitic so it doesn’t need an actual +5v line to work but the Hori I believe has TTLs in it which need the +5v.
Hello,
Darsakul, I think everything is well soldered because I have no problem with my official pads and arcade stick.
I can check it if needed anyway.
Darkmatter, I soldered the +5V Neo Geo cable (black) to the VCC though it’s not in the pictures.
I did it after because actually it was working without this cable for my official pads and stick
You tel me Hori needs +5V ? So I have to solder the brown cable somewhere but nothing for 5V on the input side of the ceverter.
What if I directly sold those two 5V wires together ? Or can I solder the Saturn brown one to one VCC empty space ?
But I don’t know if the Supergun delivers 5V through the black cable.
What kind of supergun is it?
It’s à Smallcab supergun deluxe.
I have the version before this one :

Looks like it does supply +5v so it shouldn’t be a problem. Just find out which wire is pin 8 and connect that to the VCC on the side of the FGW.
Hi, pin 8 is the black one as shown in the image above. I did wire it but it does nothing.
Only other thing I can think of is you might need to remap the buttons. As soon as you power on the device with the Hori plugged in, hold start for like 15 seconds or so then press jab, short, medium punch, forward kick, fierce punch, roundhouse kick, Left shoulder, Right shoulder. If it remaps properly then it should start working if that was the problem.
