FGs You Dislike...but Why?

JAB FIERCE JAB FIERCE JAB FIERCE JAB FIERCE!!

Arturo got beat up afterward but if you asked him about it, he’ll deny it ever happened.

guys guys i just found my copy of bloody roar 2 bought from blockbuster like 3 days ago.

awww yeah, bakuryu the mole. get that shit goin.

What annoys me about Skullgirls fanbase is how aggressive some are in getting the game’s name out there. “Fuck this game, get Skullgirls”, “Skullgirls gotta have this, that and other”, and what have you. I’m gonna get the game guys, no need to shove why you think it’s going to be the messiah in my face all the time. KoFXIII is gaining a lot of momentum right now and their playerbase never got that annoying to do it.

whats the appeal of skull girls? the art looks fucking horrendous

Gameplay. You either like the art or you don’t, has 0 effect on the gameplay.

This thread’s still open? Well then, I hate MUGEN.

i dislike the art heavily.

i will buy it. i will prefer parasoul because i think shes a charge char and she seems lame so yes please.
but yes i will buy it. $15. think about what that $15 is supporting. basically you’re saying "yes i will buy a non-capcom non-snk non-arcsys non-netherrealm fighting game designed by someone who plays fighting games.

is that worth $15. yes to me it is. because if mike z isn’t a joke and actually does love 3S, in the future he will try to integrate 3S concepts into another fighting game.

buy it bro. even if you don’t play it a lot. buy it because it could lead to good things. think of it almost like a kickstarter project.

The MUGEN community is far worse than any broken game you could make with the engine.

Guy #1- "Help, does anyone have this particular character?"
Guy #2- “Sure thing bud, just gimme a minute to host it and i’l…”

is suddenly bombarded with a thousand angry nerd messages about how he didn’t get permission from the creator to host it, despite the creator himself not getting permission from whatever company owns the character he hacked

Yup Mugen can suck a hard one. Would rather play a legit fighting game, than make my own broken one anyway.

I know this isn’t the most popular stance but i really enjoyed Capcom Fighting Evolution. It wasn’t Capcom’s finest effort, but for what it was, it was a fun fighter with solid gameplay and a spiffy cast line-up. I particularly liked the shout-out to Red Earth!!

Like or hate it, you can’t deny the concept isn’t interesting. A cross-over fighter within the company’s franchises itself. I really hope Capcom goes back to this someday.

Quickly dives behind barricades and waits for the hate to roll in

We always thought of them as coming out of her butt. “BUTT MISSILE” we’d cry, cackling idiotically.

*I was a college graduate at the time.

By this time next year, people are going to be nuts over the next Capcom/Street Fighter VS Whatever The Fuck or going back to good ol’ SFIV. You know it, I know it; deep down, everyone else knows it. SFxT’s deep in its 15 minutes.

I hate Bloody Roar. It should be renamed “Bloody Tampon” Or “Bloody Douche: Blood Clot edition” . Or “What the Blood Clot”.
Seriously though, I don’t hate any fighting games. Fighting games are my favorite Genre. Take any fighting game you say you hate. Even though I may not play it per say, if I were to take the time to learn its system and develop some strategies, I could have some fun with it. Fighting Games have one little thing in common with RPGs : they reward you for the time you spend playing it. The Later gives you XP and new abilities, the former gives you skills and knowledge you can use in your next play session. Really this thread just encourages fanboyism and partisanship in an already small demographic. No good can come of it.

You just described every thing a person can do.

Well… the game isn’t out just yet, but it really reek of “Real Honest Fighting” and I’ve said that about The King of Fighters XIII before it came out and look at it now. Haha

However, you can tell most of the kids are just saying that shit, when they know damn well they don’t give a shit about the gameplay. lol (Let’s be real now)

I really want to bash you for this… I do… but you have 3rd Strike, Mahvel 2, and KOFXIII in your signature… so I’ll just say: “Fuck you” instead.

Just about.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is like, the best looking 2.5D fighter out there and it’s the Top 3 (if not, number one) worst game of all-time.

its good to see that you’re not scared to state your opinion, but i (and i think everyone else) would like to hear your reasoning behind this statement.

I personally hate UMVC due to fact its way to fucking fast for me, and random as hell.

Well, I guess it just seems that they do the same thing over and over again in order to go into a 100+ hit combo…and then do some random 50/50 and get them into another 100+ hit combo (yeah, I kinda exaggerated the numbers, but I think you get the point). I guess it’s more of the length of the combo than anything else. I don’t know about you but I don’t enjoy being comboed for 30 seconds and then worry about a 50/50 that could get you comboed for another 30 seconds and then killed (again, exaggerated numbers, but still).

I do still enjoy playing Marvel, though I think it’s because I play Phoenix Wright now. Building a team around Phoenix Wright and getting him to Turnabout helps to break the monotony of combo or be comboed.

Ironically, I built my own fighting game (not M.U.G.E.N) and there are 50+ hit combos all over the place.

I agree about TvC though. I felt that it had perfect pacing, great character balance, and overall solid gameplay even with a “simplified” control scheme. Sadly, all of my friends think the following about it:

trollI can’t win by doing random stuff!trollThis game is too hard!trollMarvel is way better! The combos are way easier!troll

I still own the game, and still practice occasionally, but sadly, there isn’t much incentive to keep practicing…

Maybe when the Wii U comes out we’ll get TvC 2 and people will play that…

i want to know what people define as random

If this is not appropriated question then don’t bother. Besides preference what is really wrong with games with slow pace? a lot of older games have these slow/ mild pace such as SF2,Dark stalker revenge, Samurai showdown, Fatal Fury and these are adore or at least respected. After SF 3strike we never really see games like the old ones anymore. Why is it that anything that tries to resemble the pacing of these games in these times are quickly written off as slow which in terms usually means boring?

I’m not against fast pace games but I also do appreciate slower ones too. If we accept only one style, then eventaully i feel most games will play alike. Arc system games seem to heading in that direction ever since Battle fantasia. (P4 does seem like its the step in the right direction since using personal entity resembles stance like system thats rarly seen after jojo bizare adventure or ***EA/Aorn’s Rabbit.***

keo, no, just no
sf4 and sfxt are accused for being slow paced games because how the mechanics present on them discourages taking the initiative for the major part
also the speed that the characters move, the jump arcs, the heavy damage scaling, the way that animations of ultras/supers, throws (in the case of sfxt) take forever, throws being weak sauce, how big are the stages; add that the tools of the characters go from subpar to mediocre, specially if you compare them to previous iterations, it doesnt help that with the revisions every character got a lot of nerfs on many of their tools
all this elements help to make the game slow

sf2, dsr, ss or ff are not slow paced games, the same goes for bf, yes they have a lot of emphasis on the ground spacing game, but that doesnt mean that they are slow, play sf2 and you will find it quickly

i guess that games like cvs2, cfj, trf, bf and now ap never happened then,we also didnt have doujin games like the 1st akb and its sequel too even with all the seizure inducing effects, or VP

old school fighting games are not synonimus of slow paced games

lol, as i have told you on other ocassions, there are a lot of things happening on those games that make them way different from each other (mechanics, characters, etc), the notion that they play alike is just (dramatic pause) dumb tbh, unleast you refer that how those game share some elements, wich if is that then…

a game having a fast pace doesnt have anything to do with combos, or if the characters are able to run, hop, or air dash
is about how the flow of the game goes from neutral game to close game, and the dynamic between the diferent archetypes and how they aproach their gameplan based on the matchups

look at daemon bride, it has a lot of the elements found on the new school fighting games and is a game with a very slow pace, despite that it shares a lot of the mobility options that are present on ah
killer isntinct is a game that at high level play becomes slow paced too, not having throws really hurt the high level play imo

now im not gonna say if a slow paced game is boring or not, since is a matter of preference, i actually enjoy playing sf4 with my friends, and i can enjoy watch some matches (depending on the characters, i dont like watching matches that involve a rufus or an elf :P), the same goes for daemon bride, my guess is that some find boring sf4 for example, because usually nothing is happening (and exageration, but you get the idea)

As fun as UMvC3 is I’m still disappointed with it’s outcome. Capcom rushed it like they did with the original MvC3 and there’s still a lot of problems to be addressed regarding the game balance. The whole randomness factor of the game is nice casually, but the perks of x-factor tend to throw any sort of skill and effort needed out the window. Honestly, 200% damage increase and a touch of death combo using LMHS is utter bullshit. I know comeback mechanics are essential for newer players to have a chance at winning, but in the long run, it won’t make them a better player because they’ll just rely on something that requires no technical skill to win.

I also don’t like the character balancing. It’s nice how unlike MvC2, every character is kinda useful, but I always hoped that I’d be able to compose a team of my favorite characters. But really no matter how much time and effort I’ll put into my team, it’ll always be beaten out by unoriginal teams composed of the generic higher tier characters. I don’t understand how simple characters like Wesker/Spencer have great damage output and mobility, along with top notch zoning tools/command grabs, while technical characters like Chun-Li have little damage output from heavy execution, and Arthur/Hsien-Ko having such slow mobility that they shouldn’t even be in the game. There’s obviously characters that need assists to be viable, and will just be beaten out by simple characters that don’t need assists and are capable of doing a lot of damage off a simple magic series combo or an easy mixup. It’s a shame because personally all of the bad characters in this game are the ones I actually like.

Lastly I’m not a big fan of the roster. I understand that the decisions are mostly marketing based, seeing how Ammy/Spencer had a new game out when MvC3 was released and there’s the new Ghost Rider and Avengers movie coming out. But I would’ve liked Capcom to have held off on Ultimate even longer so they could bring back even more fan favorites from MvC2 (everyone went nuts over Strider’s return but really didn’t give a shit about the new Marvel cast) and refine the system to where it’s not so easily lopsided and favorable. The decisions they chose for this game, especially the less than a year release date, are obviously more for marketing purposes than what the fans really wanted. The only credible fan request I’ve seen was them putting in Phoenix Wright, a character that hardly anyone even plays seriously.
