FGD Lounge: for general fighting game discussions that aren't thread worthy

I don’t see that happening. There is no supernatural explosions for fanciful characters to draw people in, combined with a lack of retarded comeback mechanic. the best you could hope for is most of the established FGC playing it

Then again he got his values from VGChartz which is a horrible place to get stats like that. Which I’ve already said enough how bad that site is.

Also, there is the Steam Edition which is recent.
Steam Edition has been in the top 100 steam sellers since they announced pre-orders get in the beta. Aka it’s been up there longer than any other fighting game.

VF that game that everyone respects enough to talk highly about it but doesn’t respect it enough to play it. ( I would be a liar and hypocrite if I said I have never done this before.)

I wouldn’t count it out, but if Sega wants to put it there they REALLY need to get on the releases here. VF3 took 3-4years to hit console and was a shit port to boot. VF4 series had the latest releases in the U.S. a year or two behind the Japanese, but still did ok. Then Final Tuned happened and that didn’t have a release outside of enthusiast importing arcade machines.

VF5 had to different versions. Ver.B on a $600 console and Ver. C on a console that was still RROD prone, but had online (and a pretty solid net code to boot). Then 5R happened and it was FT all over again. FS dropped a lot of people felt “too little, too late”.

So yeah a stable release schedule would go along way. 2nd would be the aesthetic issue (FS is a step in the right direction). 3rd would be lack of knowledge of why the game is great.

Sega Cup is an awesome way for Sega to drum up support, but getting people into a game tales a lot of work.

VF Circuit is worth it if online is the only means of playing.

It’s kinda weird when Sega debuts a new arcade board and the first fighting game for it isn’t a VF game (though the first 3D fighter for it does have VF characters). A far cry from the (good old) days when a new Sega board would be heralded with a matching VF title.

I don’t mind them taking their time. Going from FS then to other 3D fighters of this gen feels like a time warp where simple things like the whole side-turned situation really show how farther ahead Sega is ahead of everyone else, on top of their overall system.

I think sitting back is a cool approach and the tie-in with DOA5 is cool as well. I wouldn’t mind a VF compilation in the mean time as well as a new Last Bronx as well.

DOA vs VF. As in an actual crossover and not just VF characters in a DOA game.

Brawl is a better game than most of the games on that list

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom would’ve done a hell of a lot better if it wasn’t exclusively for the Wii.

Meh, TvC would have died anyway as soon as MvC3 was revealed.

wow, really… I wouldn’t have guessed… good thing you’re here to tell us shit we already know.

I love the game, but the only reason I don’t play is because there’s nobody to play it with. That makes practicing and trying to get good at it not worth it unfortunately

Sad because I personally had more fun with TVC than UMVC3 to be honest. Yeah, I felt Giants were annoying and that the characters did play the same slightly due to everyone have the same movement options but the game is so unexplored and everyone was useable.

I understand but that problem is circular. Since you have no one to play it with, you don’t play it. However by doing that, you ensure that is actually no one to play with with. Thus repeating the process. I’m not blaming you, it’s just something that happens with really small scenes.

Last Bronx would be great, but I feel that Fighting Vipers needs a revival too. Hell, revive both so we can have a Fighters Megamix 2.

I don’t think the assists match the movement options. I think the assists should be toned down or the movement should be toned up.
I also don’t think I am in a position to say absolutely x way is the right way to do tag/assist based team game, just that I don’t think Skullgirls pulled it off to the degree that MVC2 or even MVC3 did.

Everyone having access to the same movement options didn’t really have an impact on everyone “playing the same”.

In a VS game, it’s a big factor.

Why do i feel that i am seeing a pattern right here

11.73 mil for Brawl? Damn FGC truly is poverty.

Even UFC is fucking us up.

The casual game market is just so much bigger than the niche hardcorez gamers.
