FGD Lounge: for general fighting game discussions that aren't thread worthy

Thanks for pointing that out Laban. I completely forgot about Geese.

That person you quoted there is me, heh.

Here’s a list of the top 10 eSports players: Tomo and Daigo are on the list: http://www.dailydot.com/entertainment/10-greatest-players-esports-history/

Justin’s not on there but the author explained why in the comments section.

Everyone come and watch this SaltyBet tournament, it’s hype: http://saltybet.com/

hard to say, depends on the speed of the throw. Alpha2 one button throws were the best in the SF series imo.

I am indifferent about them, both have their pros and cons
I like the throw system on GG but i also like the way that BB does it so meh

Where is @Hecatom

I want to ruin his day by making him read this piece of shit.

two button throws are just a way to universally weaken throws… so I like one button. Plus I like in older SF games where most of your buttons throw and you can choose between option selects.

Two button throws all the way. Especially if the throw itself is whiff punishable.

Whiff punishing throws is always fun. Lets your opponent know your deep in their head.

so many indie fighting games makes me want to make one. i got tons of designs and a clear direction in my head but the real obstacles [coding/art] are such a drag

I just read that. After the first page I was just like

That nigga gago sha talaga/

Coding is something I can manage. With a decent D&D program like Game Maker, and several event and script trick I learnt, I can program a decent fighter. I just can’t draw for shit, at least not when it comes to human anatomy and perspective. If I draw a hand, it’s either flat or closed and it’s facing either front or side. I’m thinking of using existing animations/sprites as a reference, which will make the game have recycled animations from a bunch of other fighters, kinda like Injustice.

I feel with this new SF4 update, TxSF, and the new GG, all these indie fighters will be criminally overlooked. I’d hate to put a ton of work into a fighter only for no one to give a shit…

well i’m working on some preliminary art with a friend.
can’t wait to hammer out sprites then try to convince a coder to help me dohoho. i feel like having the visuals beforehand would make programming the character easier.
and i have no idea how to deal with 3d models.

we’ll see how far i actually go on this project… i feel like it’d be a nice thing to work on, even if it won’t be a success.

i also feel like everyone who likes em goes through a phase of wanting to work on a fighting game, figuring out the effort needed, and then just be put off.

That type of risk comes with the territory when it comes to developing indie games, and it’s totally understandable. It’s frustrating, having an awesome idea in your head, but not being able to bring to life because EVERYTHING about making a game is so damn expensive. However, if Mike Z or Shiza would have let those insecurities and frustrations get the better of them, we wouldn’t have great games like Skullgirls and Yatagarasu.

i want a programmer dude and everything will be fine :x

even if it’s just a mugen or fm2k build, b/c i have no clue how to work those

Ewwwwwwwwwwww

But then again, is satou, his opinion on everything is shit and stupid

Nothing like insulting GG to bring out your inner Filipino. Imgine if he had insulted MvC2 - people gonna be going out to the streets, demanding the ouster of the president and shit.

WHY IS NOT SF2CE THE MOST IMPORTANT FIGHTING GAME OF THE HISTORY IN THE LIST OF EVO?

Oh, now i get why. Sorry guys, carry on.

Found a KOFXI Console Tournament on Nico that uses Arrange Mode. So lol niggas pickin’ Hotaru
