Random taunts happen to me alot too. At first I thought it was the stick, then realized later that it was the fault of a rogue finger and sensitive buttons.
That would make sense, since it happens at Super Arcade, too.
Okay so two things:
-
I talked with fuson last night and he said they WERE in the same half of the bracket, even after you moved them. Please scan and post the brackets to prove otherwise.
-
Please don’t tell me that my execution sucks because it doesn’t. There is no way I went from Up Back to Up EVERY SINGLE TIME I MISSED THE SUPER. Sorry, it just doesn’t work that way. The buttons at FFA and Super are NOT sensitive. I don’t know what brand either arcade uses, but they are not sensitive, the ones at AI are. Therefore, I refuse to believe that that’s what the problem is.
If you don’t know what the problem could be, just say so and leave it at that, that way I’ll know that anytime I play SF4 at Family, I’m going to have that issue and there is no hope in getting it fixed.
Seriously though, I’m just gonna drop it. Only reason I brought it up at all is because Ralph asked me on Saturday to let you guys know what you could do better so I thought I’d post it here rather than calling him to bother him about it because all I could think of at the time was the timing issue.
I appreciate the response and will just accept the the controls will always be a little wonky.
“he lost the :ub: into a :u: due to the stick being faulty.”
Dude, I wasn’t saying anything was your fault. You’re a pro player and it was our fault that you missed the ultra. I had thought I’d made that clear… The buttons that FFA uses are Sanwa buttons (I think Super and Denjin use them too, idk what AI uses). I have no idea how taunt could be activating. I’ve checked every possible scenario that I can think of and none of them hold water. Max suggested something, and since he knows more about the game than I do, I went with that.
Fuson and Moval were initially going to fight each other in their first rounds (technically 2nd, but they both had a bye). I hadn’t known that they had come together. Once it was brought to my attention I had separated them both into different halves of the bracket. Fuson was a seed, so he was the top of his half of the bracket, I moved Moval into the other half. The way the specific bracket I was using works is that it swaps both sides out into losers, so if you lose in the bottom half you’ll have a 50/50 chance (based on what round you lost on) to get moved into the top-half, and vice-versa. Moval and Fuson fighting in loser’s was just a circumstance of chance. If I had the bracket, I would scan it and post it, but I had given it away to someone who was interested in it. However, I can post a copy of the bracket-style that I was using, showing you how it is possible for this scenario to happen. Anyways, even if I had moved them still into the same half of the bracket (which is possible, I don’t have the bracket to check it myself), I’ll be sure to not let it happen again a second time, and to be cautious about keeping FFA players away from other FFA players, as well as AI players from AI players, etc.
Thanks a lot for the input, Gootecks (really, I mean it). I didn’t mean anything negative by any of my responses, and I hope there’s no bad blood between us.
AI uses sanwa as well.
i think i smell a bunch of sore losers
<3
im hoping when i go that the sticks will be fixed. i hate american sticks/i only play on jap sticks. i wanna check out the players/setup at ffa but hearing all this makes me not wanna go hopefully by the next sf4 tourny everything will be fixed.
My only question is, did FFA regulars have any trouble with the sticks? I know that when I went to that AI tournament, I was missing 360s, ultras, and lariats all over the place until the end of the tournament when I’d pretty much gotten used to the sticks. Each arcade has slightly different sticks and buttons, oh well.
If FFA regulars had problems, then ok, the sticks were bad. But if FFA regulars did fine, then it’s just a variation in sticks, and it’s just a good ol’ home ice advantage.
CSB is a ffa reg right?
anyway, what’s done is done…it’s probably something we’ll have to get used to in the near future. my only beef…you guys left early!!! i wanted to play more of the ffa peeps.
as for the brackets: this stuff has happened in the past, so i didnt really care. the next time it does happen though, we’ll do what arlieth stated in his post:
See you guys sunday.
Didn’t really notice anything out of the normal/usual.
