Fei Long with TE stick

No tourneys anywhere allow 1 button throws, focus attacks or taunts that is correct, some tourneys don’t even allow all ppp or kkk either.

if you are using a stick i don’t see why you would need to map those anyways it’s fucking easy to do lol…

wow thats lame. No love for pad players. Is there even a reason for it?

uhm thats retarded (all ppp or kkk) i dont mind the 1 button easy mode lol bec i don’t do that. sigh oh well, in my country we have our own tournies with no such rules but i should address those rules. I just want to be the best in my country nothing more nothing less bec i’m in no way going to any tournies outside my country unless i gt my visa or the Caribbean have some large tournament.

just did a quick search on Google and some people note that tournaments like EVO allow button mapping as long as its within the game. (makes total sense to me, thats why its there for us to choose from right?) Some people mentioned it was frowned upon and cheap, since when was making good use of in game button configs considered cheap? If we modded our controllers or sticks to have 10-12 buttons that would be a whole other story but thats clearly not the case.

It’s in no way cheap, the basic mappings are there for a reason, what if you have to play on a xbox or ps3 defualt pad like all the newcomers EVERYWHERE. Maybe they come to their first tournament and don’t have a stick? In the tournaments I’ve been to, and I suppose as coldstone said, at Evo, you can map game defined button combinations. I honestly don’t see it being an advantage critical enough to effect the match, if at all.

I could think of one advantage ppp or kkk could offer on the standard toruney stick. It would make Viper cancels much easier. But if you do it that way, you aren’t going to be as good at plinking later on in your fighting game career when you need to learn it, so yea… ups and downs…

yeah right on, i dont really see how it affects the game in anyway. Personally i configure one of my pad buttons to throw because it makes teching throws much easier for me. Any tournaments that ban in game button mappings should at least provide some reasonable explanation for it.

Just to note, all of my techs, plinks, ex’s, 3k and 3p are manual. The only thing I have a difficult time with is hitting FA manual. I’ve tried for about a month nonstop and i can’t help but map FA to the side. If time comes in a tournament where I’m told otherwise, I’m just going to have to make ends meet by avoiding using Focus Attack altogether and working around it. Sound stupid? Definitely. Am I trying to make a career out of it and climb up in the fighting world for it? Definitely not, it’s a hobby for me.

Edit: BTW, this mapping thing has been a long time controversy. As far as I know Evo allows button mapping. Check here. Just scroll down towards the end.

For those of you still learning Fei, go play some Super Turbo. It’s really helping me to clean up my inputs and be more crispy in terms of execution. Supers seem harder to pull in ST due to fewer shortcuts, as do Flame Kicks and CWs.

BTW, this is my grip: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ILY_sign

I use the middle two fingers to pinch the ball against my upper palm (where the knuckles meet the hand on the opposite side), and I use my pinky on the opposite side of the shaft as a counter-balance. All motions are performed with the wrist only. Wrist should be slightly angled out, not totally straight.

Only exception is when I go for a CW. When I do that I release the two middle fingers and pinch my thumb against the top, diagonally across the ball. I sort of roll my thumb and wrist to perform a CW that way. Backdash/forward dash can also be performed with the thumb.
