Thank you everyone soooo much!
I was using the wineglass originally without even knowing it, but now I like EPIK WIN’s style, might try the Eagle grip
Same here, need dashes, but your style is great for that, thanks agian
With a PSone controller?

i hold my ball top like i hold a pencil, i think its the eagle grip. i don’t know a lot of people who use this grip, but i’ve never had any trouble with it.
anyway, i would highly recommend against switching to an octagonal, or playing on a pad. a sanwa stick with a square gate is what street fighter is meant to be played on -for ALL characters.
people who have never used a Japanese stick think that rolling motions will be difficult to do, but they are wrong. if you’re coming from a pad, of course there will be a learning curve, but in the end your game will improve so much more without that handicap.
I have the se stick, and had the same problem, way i cope with it is that it seems to be preetty easy to do the first rekka, right after, i just rapidly rotate a full circle, the way i need to complete the rekka set, with whatever punch button pressed here and there.
damn…good thing the TE is the first ever stick i used, people seem to not like square gate.
The real question should be addressed to capcom and be something along these lines:
“Why the fuck can Abel to a very similar move by just pressing punch or kick after the first qcf and fei, a character who already has a painfully difficult special (cw), has to do the qcf 3 times, with a great risk of wasting super because of your stupid shortcut system?”
Agreed !
Eh…This worries me quite a bit that the TE stick is apparently bad for Fei…
hey guys, i’ve got the TE stick for almost a week now and i 'm really having some trouble to rekka on the right side (left side is not a problem). the way of how i hold the stick is i place my thumb on top of the ball and my index finger on the side of the ball, then i have my middle and ring finger placed under the stick to hold it (like holding a glass of wine). is there is an easier way to rekka on the right side or should i change the way of how i’m holding the stick now?
Hey there people…
I ve had my Sticks now for 5 months, I started of with the SE stick, since it was the only one i got a hold of, and then i got my TE stick…
The switch was a bit awkward at the beggining, but when i got used to the TE its all good!
What i was wondering about is, now that people have played for a while… what do you think of the square gates?
Maybe some of you have change to the octangenal gates?
And in either case how do we feel about executing Fei`s moves…
If i was to rate his specials and uniques it would be like this. 1-6
Chokkarakusho F+MK: 4. Sometimes i dont find the middle and end up jumping or even chickenwing. this is usually from a block low position, in the heat of battle.
Engekishu F+HK: 5. Tough the move itself isnt my favorite, the occasions i whip it out, its there. Different situations from the F+MK i guess.
Rekkakken: 5. Easy from both sides, but i need to keep cool, somhow it helps to practise with Ryu and send of som hadokens… funny.
Shienkyaku: 5. For this one, i tap the stick twice down in the corner.
Rekkukyaku: 6. Never miss it, chicken all day long. Maybe it could be argued that the motion takes to long, but thats a different topic.
Tenshin: 4. I dont always find the strting point i think… Its getting along.
Playing with square gates. Over.
Sorry, for the misspelling and such.
And one of the reasons for me posting this is because i thinking of doing a mod on my SE.

I’ve tried new material lately.
I bought octogonal restrictor and seimitsu stick.
I 1st thought that Seimitsu stick would fit better for me since they are harder, but not really actually. In fact, I already got used to the softness of the TE Stick so it’s strange to switch to a stick completely different.
I have lots of trouble with TE for FK FADC -> CW/Ultra. I had less troubles with it on my Hori EX2. I don’t know. It suited me better because it was harder than TE’s stick while still softer than Seimitsu.
I’ve tested octogonal square only with Seimitsu, but IMO, this is pointless. Seimitsu are hard enough to be accurate so the change was not highly noticeable (but it was for sure).
keep trying ^^b
If you like charge chars. an octo plate is very hard to play with. I play with a hori ex2 that’s modded, and I had the same problems you have had. I switched to an octo plate, but like you I do enjoy charge chars. and guile’s ultra is freaking hard to do with an octo plate, not to mention you are having to move the stick a longer distance from back to front then with the square plate. Best thing to do is, make whatever changes you are going to make, and don’t touch it agian until you’re comfortable with the motion. Once you do it enough times and get it right, you’ll eventually have it ingrained in your muscle memory so you wont have to think about it agian.
I love charge characters, but Fei is my main. Using my TE stick I have just been hitting training hard and I actually have no problem with using Fei with my TE stick. I will admit the fadc is still giving me trouble but then again that just mean I need to practice more
Ive taken this into account… Im gonna go to work on my SE stick, and order some new stuff.
Had my eyes on sanwa parts, similar to the TE but with octogonal gates…but we shall see…
Anyways, thanks for the info…
By the way, wich motion do you use for the flamekick with square gates compared to octogonal, just curious?
The JLF-TP-8YT-SK, I beleive, is a good stick to replace your stock SE stick with.
I put it into mine, and it handles like a dream. You can change the gate it comes with to 8-way if you’d like to try that as well. I’d thought it’d help with rekkas… but it didnt. I changed it back immediately.
I started with an octo-gate, and now use a square gate. I have the desire to learn charge characters… Lifting your hand off the stick so it goes neutral will definitely help in some situations. I mostly let it go neutral when I’m doing a cross up and I want a tenshin. If I don’t do that, I’ll get a flame kick.
I’ve always used square gates, not by choice just that’s what I’ve come across for my home sticks. I’m using a TE atm and there is nothing slowing Fei down specifically by using one.
The best practice you can do is go to training mode and do your specials without even touching the gate. Smaller quicker movements are better and the game doesn’t care how hard you are pressing against the gate.
I’ve said before I have had a hell of a time working on the tenshin/flame kick distinction, but now i RARELY get an accidental tenshin.
TE stick is a very good purchase.: ) No matter the character.
carbini what did you change to avoid getting the accidental tenshin?
did you work on smaller movements? rather than feeling the gate?
make sure you don’t hit a forward diagonal before anything involving a back motion. I think it shortcuts or something.
It’s nothing to do with the stick. The big input window on button presses and priority of certain types of commands makes you get accidental moves. People think it’s the stick because Sanwa’s are a lot more sensitive when compared to other makes, needing a more subtle flick of the wrist rather than a full forearm grind.
You could even just use your thumb, depending on how you grip the stick.
