No one really knows at this point. There is no one Fei you should be watching though–learning Fei is all about finding your own groove. Everyone has at least one of those “oh he should’ve did this instead” moments, so no one really is perfect. Players like Starnab, Evans, and Mago are definitely strong at execution, but then again, execution isn’t really something you “learn,” just something you pick up with practice.
Nice response Nosone. Was coming up along the same lines but…you beat me to it.
Fei match starts around 9:50
Very solid play by X-Blades. Shame that he got zoned out by Sagat the entire match. I felt like a little more patience would’ve helped him a lot there. The other matches had some great rush down play.
I have seen Mago (or so they say its him) using fei long in some replays. He goes by mago2dgod. I use mago’s bnb it seems much easier and i like how it starts with a cr. lk into combo. I havent seen X-blades yet, I am going to check it out now.
Me.
But really, me.
Lol, this really isn’t something to worry about, you’ll learn alot more expirementing with Fei, and don’t bother practicing in training mode, go to Ranked Mode, do Custom Match, set the thing to find people better than you; that’s where you practice. (Least that’s where I practice)
I don’t play Fei Long as often as I used to, but every now and then he is a great diversion when losing with Makoto gets me way too frustrated. Here’s a five-day-old match from a casual session with a friend. As you can see by his win streak, he normally takes most of the fights.

Here’s some Mago videos that I found, sorry if any of them turn out to be reposts.

There’s probably more around, but that’s pretty good for now I say.
You’re playing too close to the chest against Gief. Watch your spacing–that’s your biggest issue as far as defense. Your best range is where Gief’s forward jump goes right into your s.HK. When you’re there you should be able to reaction s.HK, s.HP, or Flame Kick anything that he throws at you, even if it whiffs. Speaking of whiffing, feel free to throw some cr.HPs to zone out Gief as he tries to walk in on you. Also try max range Rekkas to break his walking rhythm and try to reset spacing by pushing Gief back to the far wall.
After HK CW, you got too predictable with the neutral jump. I’d say a backdash is your safest bet as it takes you out of lariat/grab range, and will force Gief to use a Hand if he wants to catch you. I think only EX Hand will get you safely; other hands are punishable even if they hit.
That random cr.MK> Super wasn’t a good idea. When you have the Super, sit on it until you can either confirm it or use it in a punishment situation like a whiffed grab or blocked hand (Blocked Hand is now Super punishable, or should be considering that Flame Kick can punish it). If you use it the way you did, you lose your scare tactic, possible meter advantage for the next round, and you give your opponent a chance to put some BIG damage on you.
Also, try to sit on your lead when you can, especially if you can take Gief down a good chunk without giving him that Ultra meter. Stay safe and take the chicken route by running; use CW to get a reset instead of getting combo’d or grabbed. <–just general advice for the match-up.
If anyone knows where I can find videos of Inthul from ETC please post a link! I missed the stream and I heard it was really impressive.
ECT2 JUST happened dude, they’re not up yet. Seb will probably start uploading them tomorrow…they’ll be uploaded here: http://www.youtube.com/user/FrameAdvantageDotCom
EDIT: Seem like FADC took the videos down due to low audio.
I agree with nosone
Ok so day 2, post dick-riding:
Re-watching these matches, sans hype and loud noises, you can see a lot of mistakes on Inthul’s part and you can tell the lack of experience that both Chris Hu and Adnan have in facing Fei. In the final Dhalsim match, you also notice Inthul’s lack of experience in situations where he has the life lead and doesn’t capitalize on it by sitting.
Several dropped Rekkas, and Rekka X2 were his bane, though these weren’t punished like they should have been. It didn’t seem like the other players liked to use option select either since they got slammed by naked Tenshins on more than one occasion. Tenshin gets raped by option select if you go naked.
Other than that, was there anything here that we haven’t seen from Fei? Not really. Solid concepts, but not nearly 100% execution. The other players’ inexperience just made it easy to get away with common mistakes. More room for error = more reason to take higher levels of risk = more reward.
That is the best american Fei Long I’ve seen except for JW. He does make some weird mistakes but that could just be tournament nerves kicking in. His tenshin setups are the coolest I’ve ever seen I was really surpised that he went for tenshin in some situations but they were indeed excellent setups.
I don’t know… It looks more like he had balls the size of watermellons rather than a setup to me. Doing the command grab that often… shit you need to have huge balls. Especially against all those top tier players.
I was mad people don’t realize the power of :r: :d: :df: :hp:
I was so stupid to not bring Fei Long in against Adnan earlier. I mean I knew those setups like the back of my hand and would’ve cleaned house with it too. Instead I decide to go with Guile (which everyone knew how to take care of at ECT.) My nerves kicked in with this being my first offline tournament in such awhile. Talk about pressure and being tense. Omg, all that pressure and everyone just watching me. Ugh…I feel like crap. :crybaby:

New videos with Luffy086 (Rose) vs Evans (Fei Long)
Luffy086 (Rose) vs Starnabs (Fei Long)

Yeah, I think Inthul’s biggest problems are his shaky execution and the lack of patience. He sacrificed a lot of damage and wakeup because he was having trouble landing BnBs and hit confirming rekkas, and he was too anxious to go for big damage against characters that already have low health (Viper, Dhalsim, Seth), hence all the shenanigans. Once he works out those kinks, he’ll be a force for sure.
All that said, he’s still a hundred times the Fei player I am, haha
Goddamn that Rose…for some reason in Super she is a hard matchup for me, that lil combo with the drill hits hard. One of the characters i hate playing against online.
Starnabs and Mago are still much better players than Inthul. By leaps and bounds.
If starnabs can rape Alioune, Louffy and Sabin, and Mago can do the same to Tokido, then Inthul has got nothing on them.
