That’s all, lol. Hope that others matches were recorded and will be uploaded on youtube. I’ll continue to lurk and drop you the links asap.
They were many matches during the week, especially on evening in hotel rooms, for exemple, we did two 10v10 (France vs UK), 5v5 and money matches.
Here is a money match (20 euros) between Starnab and Dieminion (sick US Guile player)
Starnab vs Dieminion (Guile)

Now matches of the first 10v10
Evans vs Ryan Hart (Sagat)

Starnab vs Ryan Hart (Sagat)

Please, notice that we played with an image displayed by a projector which included lag, so it was quite difficult to footsie, especially versus Sagat and his st.hk, st.mk, tiger shots, etc…
That’s all we have for the moment. WorstGiefEver (hakf) will upload the second 10v10 where i play versus Cuongster (Honda) and Dieminion (Guile) and StarNab plays versus Ryan Hart (Sagat).
As usual, i’m gonna ask you to post every critics you have, and don’t hesitate to tell what are you thinking about the matches. Stop lurking, go posting
Good shit…very proud of you and StarNab for representing Fei Long. Wow, lots of really good people are there…I think I’d get super nervous lol. Man you were beasting Eita’s Gouki until that last round haha!!! I knew he’d do it at the least unexpected moment…damn, too smart Eita lol. On another note, is it just me or is Rose really hard for Fei Long? It’s weird b/c I can punish soul spirals in training mode(even if she tries to backdash after) with cr. LP > rekkas easily but for some reason, it doesn’t seem possible when playing against another player. Ugh her backdash and zoning is too good. Ugh Sagat is lame…nice try though guys.
I’m gonna be going to final round this weekend so wish me luck…trust me, I’ll need it ugh! I play on xbox360 pad and boy does it suck! Evenso, I’ve grown accustomed to it and so whenever I play with another pad, it just feels weird…plus final round only supports ps3 and arcade sticks only. LOL I lost to Rauwyn’s Gouken in a match first to 10 last night…it was like 10 to 3 LOL! I haven’t been playing much at all these past few weeks but still, I thought I’d do better than that. I couldn’t even tech his darn throws right…the delay in Gouken’s throw just totally threw me off and I just couldn’t adjust to it. He landed so many Back throw > shin shoryu ultras on me that it wasn’t even funny…ugh so frustrating. Plus I was confused with his demon flip setups and throws…I just froze like a deer caught in headlights lol. Man I’ve been playing against too many Ryu players so now it’s like I have to learn all the other character matchups all over again!!! :annoy:
Anyhow, he recorded our matches and he’ll post them up in a few days…ugh go easy on the criticism guys haha j/k. I’m gonna get really serious with Fei Long once SS4 comes out…as for now, the lack of matches in SG just kinda killed it for me. The only person I train with is my cousin and even he doesn’t play all that much.
did you watch the videos i posted tsua?
my kid has a melt down at about the middle of the 3rd video and i got an awesome sound clip of him at the end of the 4th.
Haha watching them right now…nice commentary! Definitely good stuff…you’re Gouken is awesome and boy do those combos hurt. I still need to read and learn his frame data…rekkas after fireballs is something I usually do against Ryu players but I learned it don’t work against Gouken since his fireballs have better recovery…ugh bad habit on my part. Eating a neutral j. HP, cl. HP > EX palm > cr. HK or Tatsu isn’t fun lol. I was surprised that my execution was pretty good considering I haven’t even been playing…plus I was able to get 1 perfect round against ya! WACHAAAAAA! LOL just trying to be optimistic for myself that’s all…aside from that, thanks for the ass whoopin good sir! I feel like I could’ve used more focus attacks and flame kicks but I dunno…not really sure how to deal with Gouken’s demon flip setups. I thought all I needed was CW haha. But yeah, Gouken’s cr. HK is too good…didn’t realize how fast it was and how great it is at punishing whiffed CW which leads to more demon setups. Ugh I’m soooo gonna get wrecked by Gouki players at Final Round!!! His demon mixup, I hear, is way better than Gouken’s so yeah, I’m kinda scared about that. Haven’t played very many Gouki players so I’m not sure how I’m gonna deal with it.
It’s hard to find good training buddies who use different characters b/c they don’t really find any benefits training against Fei Long players since they know that the odds of facing one in a tourney is slim. Most I’ll get is a couple of matches and then they leave. I have a good grasp against Ryu and Balrog players who are both very common but yeah, I think that’s all I have going for me at this point.

evans and starnab. both you guys played pretty well. wanna see you guys take it to that next level though. you guys arent far off at all from the really top level players. congrats
tsua, i almost made it down to final round this weekend, but my money wasnt right for a plane ticket, and i dont want any parts of the 10 hour car ride to atlanta. good luck man. relax, and focus. i think you are gonna catch a lot of people by suprise
Great videos Starnab and Evans! Soooo many videos to watch lol I don’t know if I’ll finish them all I just watched one so far, but I’m sure I’ll catch the rest across the week.
Tsua:
Yikes! I like the new Tenshin technology, but it seems you’re foregoing basic throws when you’re in that range. One of the best ways to condition a Gouken to try a Throw or a tech (and for you to score a free CW) is to use regular throws on him whenever you can. Just walking up will get him the the mind frame of “oh he’s going to throw me so I need to option select/tech it.” This opens him up for jabs just outside of throw range, and CW right inside it.
Remember that Gouken really doesn’t have anything fast that he can spam to avoid the throw or beat your jab. He can tech it, backdash it, EX Tatsu (will hit you), or Demon flip (won’t hit you if you avoid it), jump it (won’t hit you if you block the attack). Of these options, you can really only punish the Tatsu easily if you block and the Gouken player should know this very well too. Reasonably then, you can expect to be safe when you go for a throw, unless the Gouken player is really annoyed and has meter to burn.
I noticed you your jump-ins and cross-ups were a little weird… Some jump-ins were from really far away and were telegraphic (surprised that they weren’t countered). Your cross-ups also had a weird timing to them to the point where I thought you would definitely get hit on the way down. One thing that might not have been so good was to surrender the dominant position when you had Gouken in the corner. From time-to-time it’s a good idea to mix it up and go for the cross-up in the corner, but there were many times when I felt that playing a bit more defensively and holding your position would’ve helped a lot in terms of keeping him pinned.
Raun’s comment on staying in Rekka range is pretty insightful–it really is 50/50 depending on who’s ready to attack or punish at that range. Insert a few more cr.MK’s if you manage to slightly breach this range to give your approach a better mix-up. Other than that, less rush-rush panic and more spontaneity with Rekkas would keep him from seeing things coming.
Great use of overheads and mix-ups, despite a few dropped Rekkas (I know the pad is a pain lol, buy a Fightpad! Join the club :-p). Watch the Demon flip kicks though–tough to Flame Kick them unless you do it really late. Great fight otherwise I’m glad to see that someone’s taking an interest in beating us Fei-Longs!
I’ve just watched the Starnab (Fe) vs Dieminion (Gu) match now, and although Starnab’s execution was perfect, he was punished several times when overheading the opponent at wakeup with F MK.
I’ve seen Justin Wong doing that aswell and he was getting punished every single time.
Why do you guys rely on that over the closeup Chicken wing?
Great advice as always…I agree w/ everything you said. LOL I’m thinking maybe he should’ve done those matches w/ you instead of me…have you played Raunwynn’s Gouken before? Maybe you should give it a try. I’d like to see it!
Have not, or at least I don’t remember… I’ll have to add him in a bit.
Good luck at Final Round though! Your Fei is really awesome–Like HNIC Mike said, I think you’ll catch a ton of people off guard too.
fei long is one of the characters that has terrorized me as i walk the path of gouken.
i will never forget the beatings.
chicken wing is the very devil!
i have noticed that you always give great respect to kobrakoun and i want to play with him, but i usually do these first to 10 videos with a player who plays with me a lot and beats me a lot.
i expected to lose to you!
there are not many players who have beaten me 30-6 like you have.
every solid play i make against fei long comes from the practice you gave me.
/salute.
Lol seems like you’ve been scarred for life by the Chicken Wing, Tsua’s in particular
I won’t ask to be recorded, but I would like to face you for the sake of it. I think all this playing with Tsua is allowing you to get inside his head and screw with his mind :wgrin: Lemme have a crack at ya.
Yikes guys, I just came back from Final Round and boy, the competition is stiff. Saw Justin and Marn there…I think Justin, Marn and Eduardo aka Puerto Rican Balrog are gonna be a team lol. Talk about unfair haha. Anyhow I played some casuals on stick and got my butt handed to me which I already knew would happen lol…he was a Gouki player too haha. Ugh not lookin good…had a chance to see Justin’s Fei in action. He’s damn good at his footsies…really makes me appreciate his style. I still have lots of bad habits I need to filter out of my game…ugh, SSF4 can’t come soon enough. Gonna play singles tomorrow…I hope I can beat my first opponent atleast lol. Boy is that room crowded…room is super stuffy from all the body heat too WHEW! Haha not used to such a noisy environment…this is a good experience so I’m taking it all in. Not really having any expectations tomorrow…just gonna wing it and give it my best shot. :nunchuck:
New vid from the second France vs UK 10v10 :
Evans vs Cuongster (Honda)

And good luck Tsua for u’re tournament. make one with Fei
:lovin: Loving the tenshin to super, excellent stuff.
TSUA, we need an update about FR. post up when you get a sec
Haha wow you’re actually interested about my progress? Honestly I don’t really have high expectations for myself…I haven’t even really trained at all for FR. Mostly came for the experience and so far, it’s been really fun…but also VERY EXHAUSTING! Everything is so disorganized in a way lol…matches take forever to finish. Like we were supposed to start at 2 but yet ended up starting around 5:30 pm or something like that. I see a lot of pros here; Justin, Marn, Rico suave, Eduardo, Flash Metroid, and even our very own Fei user, 300lb Eugene haha! I barely saw him at the end just as I was about to leave…my cousin said he asked who I was and that he said he was 300lb Eugene so I was like, “Whoa shit, another Fei user!” OMG there are so many Rufus players here…I also see lots of Gouki’s, Giefs, Balrogs, Sagats and a few Chun’s, Ryu’s, Gen’s and Gouken’s.
But to answer your question, I’m currently in the loser’s brackets…guess who I lost to? Yep, freakin Sagat LOL! Ugh, I can’t wait to play against him in SSF4 w/ his toned down damage and health. I did pretty well but I sorta choked…my cousin kept on calling on every mistake I made. He was giving me so much BS haha…it was all in good fun though. He said he wants me to get used to the pressure so we were just having fun with it. I did the same to him when he lost his match although not nearly as bad as he did to me and NOT while he was still playing like he did to me grrr. I made up my loss w/ a victory in the loser’s bracket so I’m still in YAY!!! Ugh getting used to the ps3 pad feels so different from xbox360…just doing the best I can to represent.
Oh yeah, my first match was against this kinda young lad…he had his mother there to support him and videotape his match. I felt bad for beating him pretty bad…almost perfected him in the second round of our second match. Dang SF4 can be pretty rough.
