In the nicovids the guy does mp to c.hk is that only on counterhit?
I can’t do it in training.
no close medpunch links to sweep as a 2 frame link
Thank You for the info. That Cancel vs Link makes things a lot more difficult for me.
Can someone post a video of training where I can see the input of a c.mk and/or c.mp confirmable into super? I’m still struggling to learn to do it in a confirmable way, also the cancel from hk to super.
just go to Youtube and search Fei Long All Trials, it will show you everything.
Here’s a couple of videos of me in winners finals / finals. Didn’t get any vids of me when I was winning so you guys probably won’t be as impressed by me. Managed to take Jibbo out in this tournament, one of the top Gen players. I need some tips on how to fight Sagat though. Watching it I did miss a few uppercut opportunities and shoulda stayed on him and pressured more but Roski notoriously loves uppercuts and he’s decent at reading people so I tried to fight him outside of uppercut range and just play the Rekka game. Anyway here you go:

Grand Finals Part 1:

Grand Finals Part 2 (you get to see the horrible truth at the end…I’m a pad player):

Nice stuff xsamuraix.
Tip#1 ditch the pad
Tip#2 use plinking to do hp, EX flame kick, safe jump HK instead after CW. just as easy as cr.lp, rekka
Tip#3 don’t use EX CW at all outside of combos vs Sagat. it doesn’t work properly vs low tigers and high tigers recover really fast (still easier to punish even though it’s 6 frames faster)
I’ll update the front page tomorrow (maybe)
I use to be a pad player too. The only real advantage I have noticed since using a stick is Hundred Hand Slap moves are easier. Other than that I can’t think of why a stick is better.
For st:mk/hk to super just buffer in the motion (release to neutral afterwards) quickly tap mk/hk then any punch button…this is very easy to do assuming ur using a stick. Cr.mp/Cr.mk there’s 2 ways i do it
-
Buffer the super then quickly hold stick in down position while pressing mk/mp (release to neutral) then press any punch quickly afterwards.
-
Down to down/forward press mp/mk then rotate the pad/stick in a full circle to the forward position then quickly press any punch, I now use this to punish dp’s when i have super.
I might be able to put up a vid in a week or so.
Thank you, I’ll try your suggestions.
What I do is that I buffer one qcf, then press the kick button on the down part of the second qcf and after that I hit punch and it always comes out. The problem is that It’s not easy to see if the normal connected so it can only be used as a punisher, I thought that it could be used out of a poke when you confirm that you have hit the poke successfully.
I’m using a stick and getting a lot of practice with it. So far the only problem I have is doing continued moves like qcf x 2 since for some reason I tend to exaggerate the motion.
been a while since I’ve checked this guys account

Edit: Congratulations for getting to the finals Samurai
you look pretty solid. just need to play safer vs sagat. few too many reversal CW’s. work that crouch fierce outside his lk tiger knee range so he thinks twice about shots, and to limit his options to jump ins. Rh CW vs TK strings. invincibility should make either the knee or the light attack lead in miss. this guy was crazy aggressive tho. i guess sagat can afford to take risks vs fei given the damage ratio being highly in his favor
I’ve watched the vids Samurai and will add some critique later tonight or tomorrow afternoon and post up in the vs Sagat MTUP thread. Good stuff on 2nd man!
Hmm very nice Fei Samurai! Woohoo, nice to hear that you beat Jibbo…that traitor lol! I watched your vids and here is my input:
-
You should use a bit more MK CW from around sweep distance range instead of focus attacks…I would say that Focus is pretty useless in this matchup b/c of TK and cr. LK into EX Tigershot. So instead of focus, you should replace with more use of CW. Sounds crazy but really, when you’re that close they’re gonna fear your rekkas, cr. MK and cr. HP so you shouldn’t have to fear getting DP’ed too much. MK CW is good b/c it beats Sagat’s focus attack, puts you close to Sagat, puts pressure on him and does tick damage and he can’t really punish you since his normals are too slow…only 3 frame he has besides throws is his cr. LP but you’re only at -2. Back dash and rekka or poke with cr. HP or Flame kick FADC him sometimes to let him know that if he tries to mash Tiger Uppercut or normals, he’ll eat damage… you’ll be able to keep the offense in your favor for a good amount of time.
-
You should use more j. MP especially at the corner to trick him with with cross ups…Sagat has a huge hitbox so if you can land J. MP and trick him to blocking the wrong way, you can get a full BnB combo or st. HP > rekka or flamekick combo on him. I use this a lot but it’s always good to mix it up with J. MK, J. LK and J. MP.
Yeah I was using the rekkas as a shot deterrent but I don’t think cr.HP would trade as often as the rekkas did with Sagat’s cr.HP so that’s not a bad idea actually. Not sure if RH CW would work vs the st.LP TK strings…I tested it in training mode and you can even see in a few matches where he was spamming it, I was really trying to get a reversal chicken wing and it was repeatedly losing to it. You’re pretty much right on the damage ratio stuff. It’s almost like Sagat can Disrespect Fei adn not much we can do about it because as this video has shown, Fei can do awesome and eat 1 random uppercut and lose the match.
Judge: thanks for the grats man, looking forward to the critique.
You know I’ve never used MK chicken wing for anything, I’ll try it out in that matchup and see how it works. j.MP is a great idea as well vs him. I remembered having that arsenal when I sat down and practiced vs sagat after the tournament. One of my big problems was maintaining pressure vs sagat safely so that might help.
Sad thing was I went to this tournament having not played for almost 2 months, and not practicing at all. I didn’t even warm up. Not sure how I did so well but I did drop more combos than I woulda liked. If you guys saw random tenshins from way too far away, that was me getting that instead of CW for some reason, lol. I’m sure with some practice and trying some of this stuff out you guys mentioned I’ll be able to own this matchup next time.
Against TK pressing, use cr.MK to go right under, then cr.LK or throw.
It seemed that your opponent was learning the match-up during the set. He changed a lot of strategies during the match (random jumps in the corner to prevent rekkas).
After a blocked Low TShot, reversal rekka ! Most of Sagat players won’t expect that as they are used to spam it.
I’ve bought a TV card capture lately guys, so expect lot of vids from me.
Here is the 1st load :
vs Ben J (Sagat)
vs GTO Mrick (Abel)
vs Dark2Moon (Honda) (Lord DVD Disciple :))
It’s part of online tourney we’re regularly organising for european players (mostly french).
How come you dont punish missed/blocked Tiger uppercuts with ultra combo? Nice work, I am looking forward to more of your videos. :china:
Also, pretty sure if you do cr.mk sagat’s tiger knee will sail over you and you can get in a good punish.
Man that Japanese Fei has EXCELLENT execution skills but his zoning game and poking game is lacking…he just seems sooo mechanic the way he fights. I dunno…it’s almost like he could play just about any character that way.
Yeah I wasn’t very impressed with that Fei. It’s like…there’s no heart or something.
Plus he doesn’t seem to know his matchups that well.
it’s wierd considering the player has been using fei for about 4 months now
