imo gackt is a top 5 fei in the world… south east asia
i had 5400 with sim and 4600 with fei… my friend got on and played dan for a day and its 1000…
pp/bp don’t mean anything cloud. i respect your drive but its misplaced. when you start caring about this you play different in tougher matches. online is a tool. its a tool to experiment what works and what does not work. there are matches, for example rog…, that I literally try to bait something out the entire time and lost but i got the info i needed.
aside… did you know that if you stand at cr. mk range and let it fly as a meaty to rogs wake up it beats everything except ultra and dash upper. ex dash punch (go under then immed st. fierce to whatever), ex headbutt (whiff and full punish), regular headbutt (stuff), everything else… you are safe.
I do like Gackt’s Fei. Aggressive, and represents the j.MP.

"We’ll meet again, someday soon"
Got to hang with Mago this past weekend and the fanoby came out during our only set. Hands were so sweaty and I was just excited to play him that I forgot I was supposed to try and beat him. LOL. Cool cat but told me I need to transfer to stick to take full advantage of Fei. He liked my Fei from seeing my play against other players. So I look forward to EVO and chilling with him again
I wonder what it is about Fei Long that would have him say that. My impression has always been that Fei Long has absolutely no issue with what a pad can or can not do for him. Other than an easier time plinking for the HK Rekkukyaku > cl.HP, I really can’t think of anything.
Than again, there is Wolfkrone doing wizardry with Viper on a pad. I’m sure the stick VS pad debate can be put to rest at this point.
Look at Wolfkrone matches against Ricky and Justin. He went for the unblockable in the corner got the hit to only have the move be the wrong one. He was trying a new pad and even he tells me he would switch to stick but he feels comfortable on pad with Viper.
I haven’t played 2012 to a great depth but I was wondering generally what matchups are considered bad for fei in this version? with a small explanation if possible, even if its a slight advantage to the opponent.
I have a few characters in mind however I would like to know the thoughts of other fei players
Guile this should already been known.
Vega, superior footsies fei long is all about the ground game however in this match its taken away he cant pressure with rekkas due to he can punish max range lp rekka and is forced to rushdown.
Balrog difficult to pressure and get into, hard to keep him the corner with rekkas, he can bulldog his way out.
Bison similar to balrog he has a tonne of escape options to get out of corner.
Akuma, difficult to chase Akuma and pin him down and difficult for fei to deal with his demon flip.
Viper similar to akuma, yes you have ultra 2 for the MU but you still have to guess with ultra you cannot react unless its really bad misplaced burn kick.
Now this is mainly my opinion but i think Cody beats Fei, due to its very difficult for Fei to space his lp rekkas as Cody’s reach with his 3 frame cr lk is very far, so he has to go in, perfect example is momochi vs mago at ceo, mago would not use rekkas he knew if he did he would eat a big punish since Cody deals good damage punish and was forced to play footsies with just normals, funny thing is most Cody players dont know this so you can play like normal and pressure without fear.
Ive heard from flashmetroid that he thinks zangief beats fei but im not sure its pretty close.
I agree with most of what you have said, however i’m slightly surprised that vega was mentioned however I do understand. Personally I think this matchup just has to be played more cautiously or with a different approach just like the cody matchup since regular rekkas can be punished. Even though vegas normals are really good I was pretty sure fei had normals that beat out vega at a certain range and with vegas poor options after getting knocked down I would of thought the matchup was even.
Quick test in training mode:
Very situational: s.jab does counter poke the majority of vegas normals and you can o/s that into hp rekka to punish, similiar to the sagat matchup.
fei’s s.hp beats vegas c.mp when trying to counter poke at furthest range.
anyway I can’t fully comment on cody as I want to test some things out but I didn’t realise he has a 3 frame normal which is quite interesting.
I always thought the zangief matchup was even or slightly in fei’s favour, not sure why flash would think otherwise. Doesn’t c.hp beat every normal zangief has?
At the moment if I were to rank feis bad matchups personally for me it would be
Akuma/Guile/Viper
Balrog/Bison
Rose
then he should go even or better against the rest of the cast
I’m wanted to talk about the dhalsim matchup but I need to brush up on my pressure game as I’m slightly unsure at the moment.
From personal experience against a high level Vega, I’d say it’s Fei’s toughest match. You can literally do NOTHING against a turtle Vega. He walks faster, has better pokes and the only thing he really suffers from is a knockdown but that’s if you can get that far.
Am I still alone in thinking Juri just might beat Fei Long?
I honestly feel the thing to look forward to for the match is Juri having somewhat weak wake up options and low health. I feel her zoning game is really strong with her projectile, has a really strong selection of normals to challenge Fei Long’s ground game, has some ridiculous normals that can kill about any jump attempt or CW. Having an armor breaking dive kick that can be IA’d or canceled into doesn’t hurt either.
At this point in time, I feel like folk are under rating her, rather than me possibly over rating her.
I think Fei beats Juri 6-4, I used to fight a few Juri players regularly, you just need focus your way in through her fireballs once your in rekka range thats when you can start your game, badly space dive kicks by Juri can get punished with cr lp rekka or st hp rekka depending on how high she hits, on her wake up dont be afraid to attack her she has little she can do beside her counter teleport move and ex pinwheel, all pinwheels are unsafe, punish with cr lp rekka, if you block a ex pinwheel punish her hard with reversal ultra, rarely jump in on her, her cr mp is one of the best anti airs in the game and she can catch you with her jmp which can go into her ultra.
I’m aware of what you can punish and how. Still doesn’t change my overall feelings of the match up.
Instant Air Dive Kick can be spaced for the tip to clip you, and doesn’t appear to be punishable, I ran into a Juri player the other night that made amazing use of this. It was like I was dealing with a pseudo-Cannon Strike.
If I’m understanding her frame data right, her Fuhajin projectile seems to be on the same level as Guile’s Heavy Sonic Boom. Most of the solid Juri players I’ve ran into tend to keep at least 1 stored for when you reach that mid range / rekka range for cr.MK xx Fuhajin. Not to mention the Fuhajin build up can kick Fei Long out of Rekkas, with 6 active frames making that chance much easier.
I think your right in that she’s under rated in the game but I still think Fei probably beats her. I play our best AUS Juri regularly (not that I’m an authority on match ups!) and it just goes back and forth. Her Feng Shui engine is unbelievably scary though. 10 times worse than any Genijin bullshit. You get hit from that thing you will die.
Balrog/Bison
Rose
Rose: she generally needs to use meter to finish her combos, her footsie game is good thanks to a great back dash and walk speed, and her cr.mp can be hard to deal with. I tend to want to stay just outside of her slide range, and when she uses it a far LK can stuff it. When you have her in the corner she’s hopeless, as her ex soul spiral on reversal won’t hit you if you meaty c.lp or c.lk on wake up you can block it and punish with cl.HP or lp. When she uses U2 I suggest blocking until you can “thread the needle” and poke her when she least expects it. I usually use lp, LK, or a sneaky c.mk, other than that her fireball is ass and your damage output is much higher. Counter poking her all the time is asking for that cr.mp, so don’t get too wild with the counter pokes lol
Rog: cr.MK cr.mk cr. MK c.mk! Lol your best option when dealing with dash straights, a cr.mk on wake up will stuff a headbutt and an Ex headbutt will wiff. Obviously ultra on wake up will win, but wake up ultra? Scrub tactics. I try not to rush him down and would rather zone, TAP you can jab him out of it, and anytime you see dashes with armor throw him! If you’re going to block the rush punches remember that they come low first then high, and if they went for the overhead it’s not safe. If you have super stocked abuse the cr.mk and fish for a dash punch, as the cancelled super will take care of the armor.
I play a guy who uses both Rose and Balrog so I think I’ve had a bit of experience in these matchups. Hope I helped a bit
Considering switching to this dude from Bison. Hmm… For some reason I hate doing rekkas though, even though it’s like doing 3 hadoukens in a row.
Why the switch? You having problems, or just looking for a change?
The Rose matchup I struggle with all the time, so thanks for this tip
I’m wanted to talk about the dhalsim matchup but I need to brush up on my pressure game as I’m slightly unsure at the moment.

Wouldn’t that matchup be more in Fei’s favor though? If you space it out, the matchup doesnt seem that hard IMO. I think like you said about Vega, you just have to play cautiously against Sim.
Change. Holding back (no pun intended) for 3 years is becoming boring. Funny thing is 4 of the 5 characters I’ve always wanted to learn are considered top tier. (Juri, Seth, Fei, Cammy, and Viper).
