Got any links to video?
Thank gosh someone else feels the same way I do about Fei. I can’t stand hearing other people complain about him, but everyone is entitled to their opinion right?
That being said, did you pick up any sneaky technology from Mago? I swear only Mago and Fuudo do stuff that make me scratch my head and say “That was friggen clever!” lol. I feel like Ryukichikun is more of an auto pilot player. Again these are my own opinions and I hope I wont get flamed by other fellow Fei players.

although I am a fan on Sony’s World Wide Studios and love PS3’s exclusive games, Live is the better service to play on. More players, less lag, much better practice and closer to the true skill-sets you need to be good in real Street Fighter–Offline ;0)
Mago is my hero…I just wish I would’ve learned Fei sooner than now, it’s not that hard of a transition from Ken, but it sucks having to kinda “start over” with a new character, I want to be good already -_-
No I’d agree with you Ryukichikun is far too aggressive to ever be put in the same breath as Mago and Fuudo, he is a very very good player but just lacks that little bit of restraint you need with Fei. My opinions are only based from his online play though, offline he may be better but I remember he was the same with Ryu, very flashy, big combo’s, sweet links but just lacking that bit of smarts like Daigo. I’d chop my left nut off to be as good as him though… (plus I think the guy’s like 16!!!)
The Topanga league (correct me if I’m wrong someone) has some kind of marketing censorship on it. I think they are trying to sell the match videos at a later date to make money, and why wouldn’t you, it’s the same as any other sport, premium players should make money from their skills IMO.
At least that was the news I remember reading…somewhere?? I’m sure they will become available to the masses once they sell them.
Yeah, Topanga League is pretty hush hush with their match footage. That’s what got OverheadGreg in trouble, posting their videos on his YouTube page.
I think you hit the nail on the head, a lot of flashy stuff, lacking that small restraint. I saw a video of him (Ryukichikun) absolutely mauling a T.Hawk, it was scary cuz the whole time he was going in and I was thinking “This Hawk needs to churn dat butter! Keep him honest!”. Point well taken

When Ryukichikun’s rushdown gets shut down he gets really desperate, The thing is that Online that’s fine, people can’t handle the rushdown as they can offline.
Mago got eliminated, I was hoping he’d take that cake…Makoto/Sakura are fine, but I hate Ibuki’s…yuck, no disrespect to the player, but i hate those mix-up/trick character designs in SF4, always and will forever seem out of place.
Yea ibuki, man i hate that match-up, especially online if you what i mean. But I’d love to see fuudo vs sako or mago vs sako’s ibuki in this Topanga league to get a better idea to deal with her.
You just have to learn the vortex set ups, when she’s done mixing you up her ground game is not great compared to Fei’s. I feel I can alway’s fish out that EX DP for a full punish. Plus if you notice ibuki on wake up will almost always backdash so OS rekka or just straight up reading the back dash helps. Luckily (or not!) the ibuki I play is a 4500PP + (not that PP indicates anyting but 4+ is usually high level IMO) monster so I was forced to learn the match. I’d say I still loose more than I win but it’s not drop the stick stuff. What hit me was the amount of non cross up’s ibuki has and that’s where she gets ya. She takes advantage of you thinking everything is a cross up and that’s what kills you. Obviously there is no player going to block everything all of the time but if you can escape one, it could be enough for the round. Also a good ibuki can OS our EX CW from the front if they see you spamming it.
Have you guy’s seen this video…?
I personally mash chicken wing on wake up, I really don’t mind eating the 30dmg of kunai instead of taking the risk to block backward or forward and eat a 400 dmg combo if i don’t block on the right side.
Thanks for the vid Highland. I’ll be rewinding this vid a lot to see the difference.
Has anyone been using the cl.mp > ex tenshin setup in the corner? I’ve been using it here and there with nothing but success, although it is a bit temperamental.
Not really, I might try it out today at some point. I usually just go for another one after the first cl.mp…
All the more reason to learn the spacing for this, if it’s even viable. Just be aware of the push back, I’m guessing here, but I think it may be all dependant on what frame connects with the opponent. Sometimes, all dependent on the timing, you can grab someone by a pixle, it’s crazy the distance you get from ex tenshin. Of course other times its whiffs. I’ll have to really look into the replays to see what the difference between getting pushed back too far, or not. Sometimes I’ve been able to do: Jumping HP (deep/safe jump) > cl.mp > ex tenshin, but this is more hit and miss.
Last time I used it I was really trying to pay attention to the spacing and I think once you learn and are able to identify the distance you can and can’t ex tenshin, the amount of block stun the opponent is put in gives you enough time to make that decision. If you’re able to preform this on a regular basis I have a feeling this would be a very dangerous tool as cl.mp already leaves you at +3 and most of not all people know not to hit buttons afterward because of obvious frame trap setups.
Lemme know your success with it. It will be interesting to see what if anything comes of it.
i use cl.mp walk jab xxxEX tenshin
doesnt need corner. it does suck when i occasionally connect the jab tho
warning theory fighter
The walk up is what I’m trying to avoid, I mean I’m sure we are all used to using cl.mp as a frame trap setup. Once conditioned to cl.mp frame traps, the opponent seeing you walk forward would/should react in some way, and we all know it’s extremely hard to walk forward and DP with fei, an ex. of this is you hitting with the st.jab and whiffing the tenshin, you can’t confirm the jab>tenshin where you should be able to with this setup. In essence it will be a 50/50 based on what push back is given, of course that would dictate what occurs, but like I said in the previous post you should be able to react to that push back, allowing you to determine what options you have, or how you want to continue to pressure. With you @ +3 the opponent can’t do to much… other than sit there, risk a jump, or preform some sort of desperation move of course all of those things can happen, but with certain match ups and the availability of meter the opponent may or may not have the ability to do those things with little to no risk.
Ok so in 1 minute I’ve figure out how to do this every time both in and out of the corner (I have not tested it out one all chars)
So this trick is used by makoto players to get that one extra pixel needed to catch opponents with a karakusa. Ending the motion with forward moves you that one pixel before it comes out so the tenshin connects.
inputs are: cl.:mp: > :hcb::f: > :mk::hk:
I’ve just done this 2389492387 times on vega in the middle of the stage no problems. Just be aware that in the middle of the stage that simply walking back will avoid this setup.
CEO is going to be FUN! I will be chilling with Mago that weekend and pitch his brain for all Fei knowledge. I will record it so I can post here to help all the other Fei’s here. I look forward to playing him in a mirror as well. Want to see how I stack up against him. Im ready to take him on. After beating up on Inthul last weekend I feel I can take on the word. Well Inthul hasnt played in a while but a win is a win LOL
if they are crouching it makes many combos possible that are not possible on standing opponents… it works and much of the cast if they are crouching
he is one dimensional pure rush down… i watch an hour of footage on him. decent execution but lacks yomi… as i call them… training mode monsters
you have to free style with fei… continually adapting to everything going on and keeping your rush down safe… even if that means burning meter on ex rekka every chance you get against a character like cammy that can punish light rekka at any distance when stand blocking.
aside, remember going from st. to cr or cr to stand adds and extra frame.
so if you are stand blocking punish with st jab instead of cr jab
