Fei Long Theory Fighter/General Discussion

More technology! Thank you! It’s such a shame I don’t have someone at Southtown Arcade sharing this info with me

As a fellow Fei player that is…

If it didn’t take so god damned long to get out to the city I’d be out there, but being in the south bay it’s way too difficult.

Being “negative” isn’t so bad really. -4 disadvantage forces Rufus to throw to punish (if he’s quick enough on that to begin with). That’s a relatively small gap that you can really take advantage of, especially on a counter-offensive front. If LK CW is blocked, the -4 delays the next move you can perform by that many frames. That can superficially extend your invincibility on Flame Kick or CW should you choose to do another one right after.

As bad of a position that LK CW may leave you in on block, you’d have to imagine how much worse it would be if you were just stuck in Rufus’s safe dive-kick rush. You can’t always Flame Kick it since there are certain angles/heights which make it safe, and if it’s done as part of a rushing series of dive kicks, you won’t be able to safely swat it down with a normal. Reversal LK CW in that instance becomes the less risky option out of those counter-offensive actions since the worst you may receive on punishment is a throw (which could incidentally push you away from Rufus depending on which he uses and your positioning).

Backdash and blocking are some other options worth trying, though backdash carries the same “reset” risk as CW and blocking carries a similar “throw” risk. OS teching may work if you use cr.MP to tech, but if it’s mistimed you run the risk of eating a full combo into Ultra on counter-hit.

Yeah, you’re right. Sometimes I guess I have to remind myself that in fact my character probably scares them more than I should be scared lol

^ Yeah, I can sit in their face pressuring them all day like hell and feel like “Damn, this guy’s cool as a cucumber”, but when Fei’s in my face I’m like “SHIT. FUCK. MUST GET AWAY.”

Got on today for a little bit, out of 15 people I played 8 were akuma. Has anyone else seen this trend at all?

I guess it’s a good thing for me as it will force me to learn the matchup

new bandwagon target

I feel there will a lot more Akuma’s and Sagat’s in AE 2012 but yea there is definitely a trend.

After attending the Southtown 2012 tourney and playing in the Ranbat the following day I noticed more Cody and Akumas. I know both these guys are going to be top tier so fellow Fei’s I suggest you work on your footsies and hit confirms as Cody is pretty scary!

holy shiut. just got my clock cleaned by this dudley player. like 7-8 straight. he took so many of my points. he was like at 400pp when he started entering my room.

dropped me alll the way back to 1600.

i probrablly should have stopped fighting him, but then again i dont duck any challenges. if the bars are green and we dont lag, i dont care how many points you got

sucks tho. i was up above 3k this morning. ah well

One of the many reasons I married my wife is because she does stuff like this.

… Awesome

I have something similar from wife, but it’s Fei Long’s body stance with my head on it ( in a kilt, because I’m Scottish!)

Sounds weird I know, but she got an Artist to do it up for my birthday, I should put it up for a laugh. At least they know we are obsessed!!

ok…just reached 3000pp with my Fei, but this is the level of points where the good players start to come in, and my weaknesses are showing up in spades…lol I’m so used to moving across the screen with Kens step kick and Fake Thunder kick, that I’m having a problem getting zoned with Fei. I’m also pretty used to auto-correct dp on wakeup with Ken, his mp. Dp stuffs a lot of stuff, so I usually don’t have to guess a lot. But today this scrub Abel almost perfected me with simple cross ups into his command throw. I was very frustrated, (so much that I had to pick my ken when he played me again and own him) but I really do want to stick it out with Fei and stop going back to Ken every time I lose to a player. I’m not sure how to break these two habits though. Are you guys CW on wake up to escape or trying to time a late flame kick and use it like shotos dp? It’s not that I spam Ken’s step kick either, but it’s literally my tool for getting in my sweet spot range. How does Fei deal with a running away jump back Akuma? I need to stay in that rekka range but the idiot runs away so easily, I miss step kick. It moves Ken so far forward and forces your opponent to block.

Btw–is anyone else addicted to getting 4000pp and hate when you “mess up” and it causes you like 100 points a match? This system is so ridiculous, and yet, so addicting, frustrating, annoying that I can’t stop playing. My ken is at 3840, I promise to quite playing ranked on that account after hitting 4000. I promise!!! ironically, in Super my Ken was 15000 bp and over 5000 pp and I didn’t feel accomplished at anything, I just beat a bunch of people in a row who thought they could win against me lol…

Is your Ken that good? I want to get a match with you sometime!

Nah, just average…I would be a lot better if I practice my OS, but yeah I’m a bit rusty cuz i’m trying to learn fei, but lets go! I’m on PSN…

OmniStalgic–Fei
OmniCloud–Ken

Fei has various way’s of dealing with knockdown pressure but the best will alway’s be blocking. There are various situations when you can escape against certain set ups but these will come in time. Methods of escape not including blocking.

  1. EX CW
  2. cr-mk (cross up tatsu, Guy Elbow, Bison reverse etc etc, general high box hitting moves)
  3. quick stand dash under.
  4. Auto correct DP (you can use wiggle motion)
  5. Ultra 2

If you make a slow CW motion with EX, it will OS a flame kick on cross up or let you escape, it’s a sort of slow roll as opposed to the quick decision of commiting to flame kick, it’s a kind of late DP but your using the CW motion instead. LK/MW CW on wake up is good to throw in now and again to blow up close pressure and throws, but not on jump ins.

For Abel, spam the hell out of CW. He has no answer for this. I might upload some Akuma matches soon, I had a good set with a top Akuma last week.

Shit I only got a 360 smh

Hey guys feel free to add me I’m on the east coast, and usually play kinda late @ night. In an attempt to get back into this game and get better I’m going to try an take a more active approach here and in game (playing more) so feel free to hit a brother up!

Mago tearing it up at last in the Topanga league. It’s good to see actually. I’m not even bothered about the bitches complaining, I just want to see Fei destroy everyone now that this is the last version.

The wins against Kazunoko taste sweet. Knowing Fei can still decimate these bullshit marvel characters brings an old school smile to my face
