Fei Long Theory Fighter/General Discussion

Ranked mode teaches you to be a bad player. Online is a jungle. Sad but true.
@Mike, I know it’s hard but try not to mind about PPs. Bitches drop down like a rainstorm sometimes, but they also go up easier afterwards. Been playing with Dan for the last 3 weeks, I’m also hoovering around 3k PP.
With Fei I usually stay around 4k but I don’t play much ranked unless I want to recover lost PPs so that’s my psychological limit

So true! I hover around 3000-3500. Endless is where the fun is, I don’t even play Ranked. I have a 5000BP - 3100PP ranked Fei at the moment, looks a bit off!!!

^ For the past couple weeks I have only gone to the Training Room, and you’re right. The difference in my execution is like night and frickin’ day.

Just dropping in, thought you all would like this! Enjoy!

and action!

I wanted a few opinions on something I was discussing with a fellow player. The player involved is a better player than me and after going roughly 60 - 40 in his favour (not a massive margin if you ask me), he kind of called me out on some spamming (in a Salty way). In particular, LK CW on wake up, Focus attack and mashed flame kicks.

Now I’m not a serial masher, but I do occasional ram the edges if a feel I have a read on the opponent. The player in this case happened to play all characters with dive kicks. Yun, Yang and Rufus. With the nature of online, teching throws and these types of characters. I was of the opinion that I had to occasionally fire off a warning shot to let him know I wouldn’t stand for the relentless pressure.

In my opinion, Fei Long can get away with spamming occasionally because of the nature of our character and his tools.

Thoughts…

( I can upload replay’s that might help)

you could tell him: stop spamming dive kicks and i’ll stop spamming my own tools

pefectly acceptable. he has to know theres risk to dive kicking. if he never baits your reversals and keeps getting hit, thats his fault

guys on Sunday I will be in the Netherlands at Red Fight District, I hope to do well and to have great fun. 180 players registered already, Poongko will be there also! Follow if you can

Best name for a tourney yet…

Do you know if there will be a streaming of the tournament? If so, might you know where we can watch it?

Just came in here to say:
Haha. I remember playing Fei Long all throughout Vanilla and most of super, when he wasn’t even close to being a great character. I can only hope that when people see me playing him they know I always used him originally… The same shit happened to me in blazblue with bang when he went from D to S tier. Anyway… I see the old matchup thread has been done away with? Makes sense since frames have changed…

thought this was pretty funny

Good stuff for keeping him honest. Dive kick players tend to assume that their dive kicks are safe for some reason, prolly the op nature of them. I would like to know why you wake up lk CW though as its not safe on block. Well done on the occasional mash, sometimes ya gotta do it

From the Rufus thread… CW blows up Rufus if they are not patient…

It doesn’t whiff on a crouching Rufus, making it a solid reversal. Rufus also doesn’t have a 3-frame normal so he’ll have to do a normal move with reversal timing to punish you (or attempt a throw). What LK CW does after a Dive Kick is:
[]vs. Throw: LK CW comes out after blockstun ends for 3 clean hits.

[
]vs. Dive Kick: LK CW anti-airs the dive kick for up to 3 hits and a possible Ultra juggle (2-hit U1 I believe, but it really depends on the height of the dive kick being countered)

[]vs. Tight Blockstring: No LK CW comes out. You can move your stick back to d/b to defend again.

[
]vs. Frame Traps: LK CW comes out as a clean 3-hit reversal on some traps; on others it may get hit for an aerial reset, but Rufus will gain no advantage. This includes EX Messiah (he’ll hit you once and you’ll be reset)

vs. Crouch Blocking: If Rufus is close enough, LK CW crosses him up for 2-hits and allows you to switch sides. If further away, this simply causes blockstun
Oh ok, as a personal preference (and it could be that im just an idiot lol) I shy away from lk CW cuz I would rather not put myself at negative.

I also have pretty good confidence in my own ability to deal with dive kicks either on a reaction s. mk or c.mk. If they do them too high I almost always give a fk punish back. So I condition to stop dive kicking lol but good stuff with that Rufus technology, I’ll be sure to keep it in the back of my mind

Also if you get a level 2 focus attack vs Rufus you can dash foward and do hk cwing only works on Rufus.

Hey guys i play fei on the side mostly. i was just curious how do you think Fei will do vs Sagat in 2012?

didnt mago lose to that leslie from singapore playing sagat at CC?

i dunno, but i think its a fairly tough match right now. probrably 5-5 in actuality tho. the reduction in damage has to hurt somewhat, but fundamentally its going to be the same. if anything it stays 5-5 or sinks to slight advantage sagat

I’d probably disagree slightly as a Sagat mainer (secondary). Right now it’s more 6-4 Fei , some Sagat players have nightmares over Fei, with some even putting him as one of Sagat’s worst matches in AE. I’d say for me it definitely feels like I have advantage, and I play some good Sagats.

I’d say with the balance changes it’ll be a 5-5. I can’t see Sagat ever having the advantage over Fei Long. Rekka, cr-fierce and Sagat’s terrible close game will always make it a tough match for him. He can be safe jumped, cr-mp into CW, poked to death. If Sagat has no meter and is in the corner he’s basically dead. His normal’s are on the slow side so he has to guess, Fei can react.
