Fei Long Theory Fighter/General Discussion

Thanks!

And I just realised that the silvery thing coiled around the stick is your cable lol. I ignored it the first time I looked thinking you’d just left some random stuff on it. Looks fantastic

Hahaha yup, changed the USB cable so it would match better with the color scheme. The only thing missing is a wht guide/turbo panel and ill be set.

Did you play about with the layout of the buttons too?

Yes I did. The TEasy strike dual mod that is in this stick utilizes a stacked PCB setup so the JLF mounting points were physically interfering with the top PCB, so for a while I was having to stack borders to effectively raise the plexi to get around this which was pretty uncomfortable to play on. So I measured the distance between everything and found that the Hori HRAP1 layout (is a preset layout in the panel builder section on the tek-innovation website) places the mounting points between the connectors that were causing the interference. I actually prefer to play on this style then the viewlix layout.

Nice, I like the etching, now all ya need is led buttons

its cropped, i see white space above and below.

yea that’s what my other TE is waiting for.
The wht pearl buttons wont light up very well.

Yeah I put those there in paint so my avatar wasn’t more than twice the width of its height, but it ended up just showing Fei’s right shoulder and a couple of letters until I tried resizing the whole thing. It’ll so I guess until I decide to make something more appropriate, as initially I made it to be a sig banner for mlgpro.com

according to ryan harts blog, where he interviews mago-

Q-“In your opinion, who are fei longs worst matchups?”

A-“Yang, gouki, then either yun or balrog”

glad he didnt say guile or chun, but still not happy that all 4 of those matches are going to be popular characters

I’m thinking that’s got to be in reverse order (least difficult to most). Balrog gave Fei a 6-4 in Super and had few nerfs relevant to this fight, and I can imagine Yun being the automatic-superior to Yang (thus his grouping with Balrog). In that line of thinking, Fei v. Rog and Fei v. Yun must be 4-6.

With Akuma being traditionally 5-5 with Fei in Super and also having few relevant nerfs he should still be there (else, if Fei went 6-4 with him, it wouldn’t be considered such a tough match!). Yang must rank near there as well. Sensible?

I think since Mago did mention Chun as a bad match previously, it should still rank as one for Fei in AE. Chun lost little in terms of the tools she uses in this fight. What, she got a frame nerf on her backflip kick? Psh, nothin–not even used in this fight. The stun nerf on cr.HK, damage nerf on st.MP, and hitbox nerf on Focus also don’t make a big deal.

maybe he finds the old bad matchups easier as of late.

im just a bit disappointed that fei dosent keep the other members of the big 3 in check

GGs Spartan, was the most fun Ive had playing ssf4 ina long time!!!

Ha! I said that Akuma was a bad matchup for almost a year now and Mago agrees with me!

 “Bad” is relative term though. It may be a tough match in general (extreme concentration required), but at the end of the day if it’s still 5-5 you can really only call it even. I’d be surprised if Mago thought it was 4-6, but I really doubt it.

AE drops tomorrow. Ready yourselves for the Yun invasion.

Honestly, I’m almost more worried about Makoto. Oh God.

Mago confirmed for Revelations. I’m hyped and sad at the same time because I can’t go, lol.

Soooooooo, how’s everyone finding AE so far? I’ve not played Fei at all yet. Actually the only character I have is E. Ryu, and I am really enjoying playing him as his stun and damage are rediculous, it’s like Cody in shoto form x2 IMO.

Yang’s cr.MK xx Rekkas is so damned good; - 2 on block for the first one? But his close and standing LP are fantastic, because they’re 4 frames startup, +4 on block, but +8 on hit. He can just outright link to Ultra 1. I get the impression that Yang is more solid than Yun, but Yun’s additional mixups from the crossing up dive kick and safe random shit, plus his silly damage output makes up for his lacking areas.

I’ve not seen many Onis yet but they’ve mostly sucked balls, but so for I will get hit every time by that EX cross up shit into herp derp easy hit confirm ultra.

I’ll probably resort to Fei when I start getting continually raped, buy E. Ryu just seems so much fun right now, and so much easier to play than Fei.

I’m loving AE Fei so much. The only thing I need to adjust to is not using HK CW for close-encounters or escapes.

EX Rekkas being safe doesn’t seem to matter much, but the real killer is the st.LP > Sweep combo. That thing is a BEAST in the corner! Sweep’em down, ambiguous jump-in from the front–if it hits, sweep’em again and repeat. If they block, transition to a safe blockstring and play footsies/zoning, OR do a sneaky cl.LP xx Tenshin, OR do Flame Kick shenanigans, OR do a tick throw. The combo also makes it more worthwhile to go for cross-ups in the corner since you can sweep your way out and regain positioning if you land a hit (as opposed to a Rekka BnB pushing the opponent out mid-screen).

I’ve been experimenting with beating the Twins’ divekicks, but I couldn’t find anything outside of cr.MP. st.LP works only at certain angles but gets beaten more often than not. I had mild success with cl.MK but on whiff or if mistimed it’s just a bad idea. I think it’s worth noting that good ol’ reactions with Flame Kick works marvelously though. Also, LK CW nets you a cross-up hit after blocking a dive kick if they go for a low attack, just as with Rufus and Cammy. In some cases, it’ll get you two cross-up hits and be totally safe. U2 is a definite must for the fight with the twins. Too much ambiguous divekick shit going on–makes my head spin.
