didnt enter sf4 because i havent really been playing, and didnt want to give away my money.
but i met inthul. he was a real cool dude. shared a lot of info. we played 5 games. i didnt wat to play a mirror at first, so he 2-0’ed my gen real quick, before i was like ok, gotta switch.
dominated me the first game. second game, went down to pixels in round 3 for both of us. we awkwardly miss each other a bunch, and he clutched out a flame kick to go up 2-0. like i punnished a blocked rekka with low jab rekka, and only get 2 out leaving him alive
really good game, so we play one more, and the 2 people in line to play him agree. dont remember the third game, but he won easy, i think.
i came away impressed. he was really sharp with his execution, solid frame traps and safe jumps. really good knowledge of spacing.
it gave me a good idea of where i measure up. so im inspired to play again, and start training hard
Right, I’m fully back in action and playing SF now. My Fei’s not really got any worse, and my Akuma has gotten about 3x as good somehow in the brief sessions I’ve been having. Anyone wanna play some fun matches sometime? I’m up for some Fei community doss abouts!
my game hopping from MvC3, and mortal kombat has me playing soooo badly, lost about 350pp yesturday due to me being super impatient, but i got most of it back except lik 30 points, was very disapointed but now i’m trying to get back in the swing of things just in time for AE.
Will do! Though unless it’s the weekend I’m not gonna be able to play late, which in the US is going to be like 7 or 8 at night lol. I’m back at home from uni and my brother can hear the stick through the wall
After coming back to the game this week I seem to have improved in some areas, but I very much lack in the footsies department. In some matches I had today, including a mirror, I was just not quite on the same level with the pokes and movement and Rekka spacing, which meant I slowly lost the life lead, with little chance of recovering it outside of a good knockdown and mixup. It’s all good and well getting lucky with a poke here and there or a Rekka, but my opponents weren’t just getting lucky the whole time, because they were consistently doing more damage to me than I was to them.
I’m not even sure what to ask really, because I guess it’s just me lacking in that area, but are there any little things you guys find helpful?
Losing touch with spacing has happened to me a couple times before after long breaks. The easiest way to get it back I find is to play really defensively. Play a mirror or a set against a non-projectile type of character and work on using normals and Rekkas while back peddling. Doing this, your opponent sets up the spacing for you. This forces you to react to spacing changes with the correct attack instead of overshooting your offense recklessly and being punished for it.
Actually, it might help to play against someone who’s not too sharp on the game themselves and take advantage of their mistakes. It’s also a real ego boost haha
So after protical and I played mortal kombat and MvC3 both of which are crap online… we moved over to ssf4 and after a few matches I was like “dude lets try some vanilla” and the rest is history, was actually a lot of fun, except that horrible HK.CW start-up… jesus I forgot how bad that was…
Also I am a weird, goofy white guy, I tend to do weird things… how come you dont know this by now??? hahahaha
Spartan since you’re in England I’d love to get some matches in with you. Add me on XBL: thegame4ever, I’m in Poland so it should be alright. And for footsies? cr.mp only!
“The slots will be chosen based on SKILL or how well known they are.” I understand why they are doing this, but I’m sure even if I entered they would pass over me like a Jew passes on bacon…although you’ll never know until you try I guess
