Yes, she can punish you on reversal at that situation but my point is that both Viper and Fei are at 0 frames of advantage. As a fei player you know ur lp 1st rekka puts you at -4 (on block) and you know her options to punish you with a normal is limited (she has no normal faster than 4 frames), since she can be beaten by fei’s jabs and shorts at that range. Her option would be to reversal special attack to get out or do a 3 frame throw. It’s at that point you can bait an ex-seismo and neutral jump to make her whiff or do a cr.mk to whiff her burning kick… What mago was setting up was a 50/50 or bait a whiff.
Picture this: Viper is in the corner cl.mp – sweep — (depending on distance and what you whiff st.lp or cr.lk) — jump mp (for ambiguous cross-up (if this whiff) – do a cl.hp (fishing for a counter hit) if you miss, you do 1st lp rekka (ur both at 0)
The most valuable move to take in this match-up is cr.mk. Performing a meaty beats a wake-up ex-seismo. At point blank range it makes her whiff her normal burn-kick. Neutral jump is good too.
Pretty sure Inthul knew this, it’s mago’s counter-hit setups that I am trying to understand and point.
Against Viper, Corner pressing is all about mind game, if you read the player correctly and now that meaty c.mk is a zero risk action, he will not be random and you’ll can apply an effective pressure due to the fact Vip doesn’t have 3f. I don’t think there is many things to tell about it but if you want me to develop this point, just ask.
At ground game you have to pay attention of 3 things :
Instant Burning kick
Thunder Knucle (LP and MP)
Seismos
Viper can prevent you to go forward using Thunder Knuckles, so you have to stay out of TK ranges and when whiffed, punish it with Rekkas or c.HP. After this, the Viper will be afraid to use TKs so just keep going in and out the TK range and push her into the corner like you use to do agains others char (Rekka fearness baby).
One the TK neutralized, Viper will use Seismos => Walk cautiously and use fadc sometimes to go forward but beware : don’t use it if after the dash forward you know that you will be too close of her.
The only way that Viper got to attack you and get the momentum is to use instant burning kick so keep this option in your head and when you see it coming use fa lvl 1 to hit her : you’re at -1 if you decide to dash forward after hit her so you can c.lk/c.lp for free (if she decides to throw her 4f, it will trade), the problem is that she can use her random shit after your fadc so i use to fa lvl 1 and then backdash.
Mago did a good thing @BBC, when he saw an instant BK coming, he did fad(forward)c then c.lp into rekkas, i will start to use it too
Confusing it a little. LP Rekka is -4, no matter what–if Viper tries any move, she gets 4 frames of cushion to use it. Her 4-frame normal can either hit you, or it won’t during this window. If it doesn’t hit you, the frames of disadvantage for Fei (advantage for Viper) essentially shorten the number of vulnerable frames on her 4-frame move.
From Fei’s point of view, he gets -4.
From Viper’s, she gets +4. In this light, it’s like linking. The frames would work like this:
[]+4 = proper link for the 4-frame move
[]+3 = missed the window by a frame, the 4-frame move is cushioned by 3 frames, leaving one vulnerable (but active) frame after the advantage is over. This is like a 1-frame, frame trap.
[]+2 = missed the window by two frames, the cushion is the +2, leaving two vulnerable frames (one is active). This is like a 2-frame, frame trap.
[]+1 = missed by 3 frames, etc. etc.
On the subject of Viper, IMO Inthul just pressed on offense too much. Not enough patient walking. If you watch the Mago fights, he walks most of the time and plays defensive footsies until he can get Viper in the corner. He might go for an ambiguous jump-in then, or he might just keep her locked down. That’s really the bulk of his offense though; he doesn’t try to chase Viper with Rekkas and CW or even aggressive normals. Inthul needs to slow it down a bit is all.
And some OS’s can be found on the C.Viper section of the Master Guide.
inthul should safe jump more on her wake up. safe jump with OS lk cw should beat everything and allow continued pressure.
he should also see if he can find some staggered block strings that beat mash out lk burnkick, and at the same time let him block mash dps
wolfkrone kinda just does whatever the fuck he wants, so specific matchup stuff wont necessarily work as well against him because he dosent play by the book.
thats my problem with characters like viper in general. they ignore the fundamental rules that apply in most other matchups, like footsies and space control, and reduce the game down to whether or not you can deal with their specific mixups/shenannigans
Would it? I’m imagining a traditional safe-jump setup would allow HP TK and EX Burn Kick to win based on their long active frames vs. LK CW’s 8 frames of invincibility. Safe-jumping would be enough I think.
I think even with Wolfkrone’s randomness, playing the match with a more level head would force him into a position where he can’t go ballistic. I mean, if you’re walking, he’s going to have to chance a Seismo or an Air Burn Kick to really put on the hurt. With U2 and cr.MK, the Burn Kick is a big risk and Seismos still aren’t hard to deal with if you just block/absorb/jump them. I mean I definitely see how this match can be mind-boggling–especially when playing wake-up games–but I really do believe there can be a method to the madness.
As a side note, for those advocating nj.HK, it’s good if you smell a Burn Kick I suppose, but if it trades with HP TK, Viper gets an Ultra. If HP TK wins outright, she gets another HP TK to juggle for 140 damage, or in the corner, she can juggle to anything. And as Jason mentioned, there’s also the possibility of FADC if she does hit for an Ultra anywhere on the screen.
[To my experience though, many Vipers don’t actually use FADC since it leaves her at -2 on a perfect forward dash, and I believe the range on where she can cancel out is somewhat short compared to the total horizontal TK range.]
Good stuff guys i will be sending him all the video links. Keep an eye out for my youtube channel I should have up a good amount of day 1 videos from Winter Brawl. I really wish someone recorded the fight where he beat justin wong 4 straight rnds. Aslo dont forgot to follow me on twitter for more news on DMG Inthul and chances to win prizes from DMG.
It’s all good I just wasn’t sure if it would or not, but it’s always good to have new things to experiment with. If it does work, that would be pretty awesome.
Hello Fei players. I have been hard at work for my team and here is one of my ideas that came together pretty quickly and I hope you guys like and support it as well DMG Inthul ?Pad Warrior? Shirt | Dominion Method Gaming
For all those who are interested in SFXT here is a huge leak of chars. that maybe in the final game. To my dismay I don’t seem to see fei long on here, but that being said I think having marshall, forrest AND fei would be to much. One front runner in the tekken series has always been one of the laws. Anyway there is a lot of game play stuff in the notes along with a lot of other things, ENJOY!
Anyone else over the suit costume already? I’ve come to the conclusion that Fei Long needs to be played in either the original or alt 1 costume. He’s just not an alt man.
Makes me wonder if I would have preferred the jump suit now…

Since this forum has recently got some new members, and I want to inform the current fei forum members that Phreakmods is planning on releasing more of his TEasy Strike boards. For anyone that doesn’t know this is a combination of the TEasy PCB and the Dual Strike PCB making your Xbox360 stick work on both PS3 and 360, all of this is done with NO SOLDER. It also houses a 20 pin header which will eventually allow for LED mods with no solder as well.
I’ve done several of these mods myself and requires general electronics skills/knowledge to do. If anyone is interested or wants to know more let me know or check out the link below.
He is estimating that within a week or so he will have a new batch ready to sell, and if you are interested in buying one there are some small things you should read about on his page (products > TEasy Strike, then scroll down to ordering and packagin information which is roughly 1/2 down the page) so you can be sure you order the proper TEasy Stike PCB.
These things sell out very fast so be sure to add yourself to the mailing list on his page.
To help those that need it, if you order one and try to install it via the written instructions on his site and are still unsure of what to do and have Skype, I will be willing to walk you through it via my webcam.
Be sure you read ALL of the notes that were taken while the video was out.
The very last thing said was "Versus Battles against regular SSFIV players will also be supported, Capcom states “Get out there and duke it out with the version you like best!” (maybe this means you can pick maybe it means you can play people who don’t have the DLC, but what if you COULD pick?)
Who do you guys think you’d pick, SSF4 or the AE version of Fei?
I’m so hype right now… back to work!!!
EDIT: Just found the link for a site that still have the video running, check it out before its to late!
I’m pretty hyped for AE personally. I think I’m going to pick up Oni or Evil Ryu as another character I can be fairly okay with, because as of late, I’ve been obsessed with Demons. It’s just unreal how satisfying landing Demons all over the show is. So maybe Oni’s air Demon is the way to go for me?
I’m back online playing SF again now as I’ve just finished my exams for uni this morning and there’s no more work left So I may drop in for a few games here and there. Expect very little of me.
Trailers, trailers! I’m a bit disappointed that the AE box art and everything surrounding the DLC isn’t hinting to new characters… The 4 coming in aren’t the most exciting, though I’m sure it’ll add some variety at least.
SFxT is looking really sharp though  Obvious things need work, but there’s still so much time before release. Chun apparently still doesn’t have a partner… Maybe they can pair her up with a certain Hong Kong action star :wgrin:
