That was an intense fight. I wish I could have stayed today to cheer him on but again it was an amazing display by Inthul. I wish I could have seen the fight where he sent J. Wong to losers. I was told that he didnt drop a single rnd to J. Wong in that set.
Good stuff by inthul ^^b really wanted him to win. He needs some OS technology against viper. The U2 must be a threat, viper’s need to be scared of it.
Once again, Good shit Inthul, fei ftw
Wow that is awesome! Way to go Inthul!
I played Inthul in casuals and got destroyed lol.
Props to him for getting 2nd and getting 32 EVO bracket points.
Where you the white guy that played him on Saturday? If so I was looking at that set, I might have even recorded it.
Unless there was a bunch of white guys playing Inthul, that was probably me.
Truthfully I hadn’t touched SSF4 since the moment I got Marvel 3 so I fell way off (but I still played carefully against Inthul, not like it mattered lol)
This is in no disrespect ok but did you look some what like this guy A.D. Miles I have the set recorded. Also Inthul did play many Fei Long players. Every Fei player wanted to test where they were at. Also he went over and gave advice to every Fei Long player. So again I mean no disrespect, I just want to know so when Summer Jam comes around and I go to that event as well I can know who you are and play some sets against you in person.
How did mago lose? I watched all the teamSpooky vids and still don’t know
Fei Long players I come to you all for some help. We need to help Inthul with the viper matchup so lets all go to the lab and find out the best setups that can be used to neutralize C.Viper. If someone can get a hold of NyQuiiLx as well he has some great videos with OS and he may also have some tricks that we havent seen and I can then pass that along to Inthul. I also sent a handful of videos to Inthul as well and he just replied “Starnab is going to help me tonight as well with that matchup” So whatevery help we can give would be great.
So thanks again fellow Fei players.
Didn’t Mago beat Uryo’s Viper quite convincingly during GG online ft10? I believe he said he played 100 or something matches against a good c viper just to prepare for this match. I can imagine that he did some “special” stuff based on the info he gathered from this training. So rewatching and analyse this ft10 might help…
Uryo’s played scared in that set. Wolfkrone just doesnt give a fuck, he did wakeup burnkick over 5 times. That said it was Inthuls mistake for getting hit by it but at the same time i can understand him. He had a chance to win his first major, shut up all the haters and make a mega statement. So i dont blame him for wanting to go for the kill. But what I am asking is some unblockable setups and counters to C. viper. With just a handful of ideas I can pass along to Inthul to work on and he will work on it.
Mago vs Uryo @Godsgarden is really helpful.
Thanks Evans I sent those videos to Inthul. Maybe you can join Starnab tonight and help Inthul out with that matchup. Also good showing at that tournament held a few weeks ago. 3 Fei longs in top 16 was sick!
In case you linked the wrong videos:

Also, I believe the Viper that Mago fought against to prepare for Uryo was Kindevu’s Viper. He said that Kindevu helped him with pretty much all of the match-ups because he knows how to play almost any character (with the exception of Ken and Dhalsim, I think). - Mago was dominating in that tournament though. In the FT3 he wasn’t as good, but you can really see the potential of Fei Long in longer sets.
Yes I do remember Mago telling me during our interview that he trained for a week for each matchup. I will forward these videos over to Inthul. He has confirmed to me that he will be at Final Round in about 2 weeks. If Wolfkrone is there then all the info we gather should help him better understand the matchup

Something i noticed: Viper doesn’t have a 3 frame normal. Here fastest normal is 4 frames. So, when you watch these vid you’ll see Mago trying to cross-up the viper player and follow with cl.hp to 1st rekka (which is -4 on block). So both are basically at 0.
I think mago was fishing for the counter hit with cl.hp and then followed it with 1st rekka if it was blocked to set the frame advantage to 0.
I may be wrong, but that frame data sounds wrong to me. I know for a fact that Rose’s cr. MP is a 4-frame start-up and that her EX Soul Spark is +4 on hit, and that cr. MP > EX Soul Spark > cr. MP is a corner-only 1-frame link.
If the Viper player hits her reversal at the exact frame, she can probably punish you. Or is the frame data different when it comes to - frames?
Now of course, her only 4-frame normal is her jab, which doesn’t really do much. But still… lol
Also, I think neutral jumping HK is pretty nice for this match-up (I’m a scrub, so don’t take this as information, but just suggestions/ideas), because Viper can ruin Fei’s focus with safe TKs - although as you can see from Mago’s matches in the video you linked, at the right distance (not sure if it counts for all distances) you’ll be able to EX Chicken Wing in the time between cr. MK/MP/HP into MP.TK, leading to a very big punish from Fei’s part. I’d probably also try to punish her overheads on reaction; they’re not really that fast (I used to play Viper, and overhead felt like such a gamble for me sometimes). They’re 20 frames on start-up but only -2 on block, so they can’t be punished with the exception of SPDs… or Akuma’s super. lol
Beside interrupting some badly timed TKs, nj. HK can also interrupt some of her Burning Kicks, which it’ll do a lot of the time. Her punish will be HP.TK for that, but it only does 70 damage, has a 7-frame start-up and sometimes trades.
Now obviously I’m not a very good Fei player, but I have only been out-smarted by one Viper who knew how to actually use her TK (I have a tendency to focus a lot against Viper, although I realize now what the risk for doing that is) and how to cancel her moves for mix-up pressure.
I’m not very knowledgeable of Fei, and the game in general, so… feel free to criticize. I’d like to know if this would work at all, 'cause I can struggle with a very good Viper myself.
Edit: How good is far standing HK for this match-up? I’ve heard it’s good against Adon for his Jaguar Kicks, so it might work against Viper’s Burning Kicks too… I’m not sure though. I don’t have any Vipers to play with.
You could nj.hk on her wake up but after a few tries the will dp and then she could fadc into her U1. Not a good trade off. It is a tricky matchup as she takes away your FA which is one of Fei’s best tools. What really makes the matchup harder is for the fact that she is safe on block from all her burn kicks. Ground and airborne. So Viper can throw it out as much as she wants as she knows she is safe on block. You could mash dp for a reversal but it’s a gamble. Also another I learned from many top players, Viper c.mp beats out a lot of pokes and hits for counter hit a lot. It has more priorty over a Loy of Fei’s normals. If you like over the match again you will see Inthul got couterhit a lot with her c.mo due to it’s high priority
Cr-mk beats pretty much all of Vipers wake up options apart from her EX burning kick (if I remember ). Her overheads slow as, and she has crappy pokes. You can pretty much poker her to death. I’ve never found Viper particularly hard, even against good ones I find it a very even match. If you can keep your patience and watch her faints, there’s no reason Fei should fear her. Mignon15’s neutral jump advice is also something I use.
That’s my 2 cents, but a player like Inthul would know this already.
I wasn’t talking about poking her overhead away. I’d try to FK on reaction to it.
Also, U2 comes into play when it comes to Burning Kicks. I’ve done that a few times on reaction to the sound she makes when doing it, but that’s mostly because I focus on nothing but that when I’ve done it.
Edit: And of course you can’t expect to win by doing nj.HK all day long. Rekkas and pokes speak for themselves obviously. Every tool should be used of course.
