Fei Long Theory Fighter/General Discussion

Amen. Although since Im in NYC when they get AE imma definitely go try him out. I like him in third strike.

Wow is anyone here the Moniraking featured at 0.30 in Lianghubbb’s funny and cool 31?

check out the craziness over in the ryu forum. air is claiming the ryu fei matchup to be 6.5-3.5 for fei. and apparently mago told him its a 7-3 for fei.

i also forund this gem of a post

lol

Based on Mago’s GodsGarden win, the final score for a first to 10 with Daigo was 7-3 for Fei, so I guess that serves as some evidence there. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s like Vanilla Sagat all over again though… People keep comparing Fei to him for some reason. It doesn’t make much sense. Vanilla Sagat was utterly broken, did too much damage and had too much health. Fei is trickier but Ryu can play a strong game against him and suffer a few blows along the way. Every Sagat punch would just be game over though.

Everyone who theory fights does so on the notion of “perfect play.” It’s a concept that doesn’t exist, and if it did, it works both ways.

As an aside, I really do hope Fei has some bad match-ups in AE. I kinda miss the days when finding a Sagat or Zangief online would mean I had to play REALLY sharp to win. Maybe not bad match-ups to that degree, but a handful of bad ones at least. This, of course, comes with the news that a number of top-tier characters are being nerfed in Fei’s favor.

Wish me luck guys.

oh, coming to michigan? i may go to that one if you are going to be there. its the day after another tourney i may go to in chicago tho, so we will see what happens. wolfkrone and bannana ken will probrablly be there in ann arbor

Good luck in that tourney for anyone who enters it.

I’m just sad now, because Fei Long’s been exposed and most wont bother to learn him properly, or at least learn how to deal with his crap, so once AE is DLC in like half a year, everyone will be compaining, and his next appearance in SF will be a nerfed version :frowning: lol.

So I guess we should just enjoy being at the top? Because it’s obviously fine when Bison, Honda, Chun-LI, Ryu and the rest are at the top; they’re expected to be good by everyone, but Fei Long?? Pfft. The response will be kinda like this I figure;

Obviously it wasn’t fine when honda was top, it isn’t “fine” to most whiners when any character is top - the sea of whining that guile was ass in vanilla was met with another sea of whining that guile is OP in super…just take your top tier status and run with it, people will bitch and moan regardless. Since I’m pretty sure this is the last iteration of SF4, Fei’s here to stay, people’s opinions on your character don’t mean anything.

here’s some life lessons from Katt Williams

I for one welcome our new Fei Long overlords.

i really don’t think fei deserves the top tier label when

 1. many people don’t know the MU and whine when they lose
 2. fei still hasn’t won a major western tournament
 3. fei still has mad trouble against at least 5 people (the charge dudes)

people need to stop acting like he’s sagat

Thing is , as soon as Mago or Daigo farts, people want a whiff of it.

“I’ve said this since Super came out” - “Fei Long is easy mode always has been” , just hunt around the main page, it’s full of this nostradamus type bullshit.

I’d say 5% of this site have played AE whilst the other 95% have played it in their head.

Is it so wrong to imagine I have a Fei Long that has 10,000 more points than Mago in a game that I’m not even sure we have anywhere in England?

As a side note, my post before wasn’t really serious, I just wanted to point out humourously that Fei’s next iteration will be mid-tier or lower again, so yeah, we might as well enjoy the work we’ve already put into him; though it’s not hard to get to a competant level with Fei, while still being retardedly hard to master him close to his full potential.

You can apply all that to guile, chun, honda not saying Fei (or anyone) is even close to vanilla sagat, but there’s no denying he isn’t his low-mid tier vanilla self anymore - he’s much better (mostly due to other characters getting nerfed)

The thing is Fei long has needed a lot of man hours put in by players getting to that stage. He’s so balanced (the most balanced in the game?), that he’s never really in trouble, but at the same time he’s not some OP beast that destroys everyone.

I think people need to realise that it’s going to take them months before they are anywhere near decent with him. I wager a slight influx , then a return to Ryu and Balrog once they find out they didn’t actually get hit that bad.

Aw jeez man. I was hoping Ann Arbor would be free lol. But yea show up, lemme see if your Fei still works after all these years

On the subject of top-tier Fei, I think he’ll still be overshadowed by Yun and Yang in the long run since they’re easier to pick up and people will be winning tournaments/matches with them faster. No one likes to lose after all. Fei’s game is very simple and direct so it’s A) Easy to predict, and B) Easy to defend against. They’ll have Fei figured out fairly soon and very few newcomers to Fei will be winning. Scrubs aside though, how many top level players are actually dropping their mains for Fei? A handful at most. Those are the ones that really matter in the end. I know you guys can beat a couple of wannabes easily.

i can say that a lot of us will be free, lol. i am playing gen now after all. but all jokes aside, our top 8 is usually pretty damned good. but thats if everyone shows up. like i said there is another out of town tourney the day before, so we will see.

on topic tho, its like i said in another thread, fei may be in the upper class of tiers in this one, but its mostly 5-5s with nothing easy to take advantage of, so anyone who picks him up and sticks with it will do so because he dosent have many bad matches, and not because he has the easiest time against everyone

I find myself disagreeing with some of these numbers. Fei Long VS. Ken, 6-4 Fei Long Favor, in particular. Thoughts?

ugh lol this list with all these 6/4 matches in fei’s favor makes me think im doing things wrong… oh well back to the drawring board.

Also I do disagree with some of them, namely: cammy, seth, viper, and blanka being in fei’s favor. these should be 5/5’s IMO

and dudley being a 5/5 match-up is wrong, that match-up is in fei’s favor without a doubt.

But you can put to much stock in these things as it always comes down to the player to decide what to do in certain situations ect. It’s good to see fei getting up there… I guess? :wonder:

That list shows charge characters being boss

I think that Cammy, Seth, and Blanka are definitely in Fei’s favor. U2 and footsies make cammy cry. Seriously…just stand outside LP rekka range and outpoke her/anti-air/FA her. I know that is simplifying it but trust me, that match-up is in Fei’s Favor.

The Seth match is all about the knockdown. If Fei gets that or a CW he wins.

In theory the blanka match-up should be in Fei’s favor, Blanka can be punished easily and he doesn’t really have anything scary enough to make you afraid to crouch-tech, so his throw shenanigans go right out the window. That being said it isn’t as easy as it sounds lol.

I don’t consider Seth / Fei to be in Fei Long favor. Seth really has no reason to challenge Fei Long up close, he has the mobility, and moveset to keep Fei Long at bay fairly well. I feel it’s 5-5.

I do agree with Fei Long having an advantage in the Blanka match. Fei Long doesn’t need to jump, and can punish a lot of Blankas specials. Cammy, I’m sort of on the fence about. I don’t really have too much experience in that match up, but I do agree with you saying he has an advantage. I’m just not sure if it’s a 6-4.

I’d push Chun Li, and Dictator back up to 6-4 Their favor, personally. Bring Sagat, Ken down to 5-5, probably Honda, Viper, and Juri as well. Push Dudley up to 6-4 Fei, and either bring Dhalsim back down to 5-5, or leave as is.
